IVAN KRAL'S FILM WAS A BLAST! KIMMER MEETS MITCH RYDER!

Ivan Kral greeting Tino Gross and Linda Lexy

BLANK Generation DVDS for sale that night sold out!

The Washtenaw Homeless Shelter still needs donations

Hey gang! I just gotta tell you what a gas Ivan Kral's film screening was last night! It was more than I ever imagined it would be! My job was to promote the event online and my focus was creating the most creative and interesting party in the lobby of the Michigan Theater and there it was!

My great pals celebrity hosts Carrie and Skid Marx with John Carver!

Soon the crowd was Wall to Wall

I walked into the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor at 5:30pm yesterday and the grand foyer of the theater was buzzing with staff and volunteer activity. I approached the check-in ladies they asked my name and I gave it to them but they didn't see it on their list. Reached into my camera bag and pulled out one of my cards and gave it to them. The ladies lit up and said hey Retro Kimmer is here! Our blogger is here! Made me feel really great! Thank you Shelter volunteers!

Casual wear, formal, punk attire, the crowd ran the gamut! Of course we are in Ann Arbor not NYC. Ann Arbor is a casual town always was, always will be. Proud to live casual here. Who cares about shorts? It's hot outside! Only the participants on Project Runway I think....

NOIR Leather came out at my invitation and I loved their look so much...

Noir Leather Crew

Keith of NOIR Leather and 2 workers looked current yet punk retro: dig it leather shorts! Debbie Harry tee shirt and a big bucket of popcorn PERFECT.

RK and Mitch Ryder :)

Just then Rick Ruiner and Nina Friday came in and I was so happy to see them! They have such energy and sparkle. As I was chatting with them I noticed Rick's eyes were kind of looking over my left shoulder. I turned to see what was behind me! Right behind me stood one of my most favorite singers of all time Mitch Ryder! He was walking toward me! OMG!! I couldn't breathe! Of course I told Mitch about buying my very first record and it being Sock It To Me Baby. We talked a bit about the keyboard player on Devil with a Blue Dress a session artist.

Mitch Ryder Rick Ruiner and Nina Friday of the Ruiners

As I was standing there holding a big bag full of cameras, Rick Ruiner leans over and quietly says Kim... give me your camera! OMG again! I was totally stunned as I hadn't even thought about it! Rick shot the photo above of me and Mitch. Thank you Rick!!!! I would have missed that moment totally... Then I shot Rick and lovely Nina Friday with Mitch. Just then the crowd poured into the party...

Ivan Kral Wendy Stars Don Was Madhatter Susie Forkin

As the party took over my whole focus, it was really hard to remember that I was there to photograph these people! I had a job to do! But I kept getting pulled into the shots too! Then I look across the room and see that unmistakable hat and dreads. Producer extraordinaire Don Was came out! Ivan and Cindy told me he might be there and WOW what a surprise so of course I just starting lining up folks for group shots.

Carolyn Striho Don Was and RK

I have a much better photo of Ms Striho with Don (what a sweet guy) in the slide show at the bottom of the post in my slide show. Carolyn was such a doll with such a retro fab mini dress that reminded me of Twiggy and Peggy Moffitt I loved the fantastic clothes of the 60's. Carolyn was just a doll!

The girls!

Wendy Stars RK Susie Forkin Stunning Linda Lexy and Carolyn in that fantastic dress! I am so lucky to call the Motorcity Rah Rahs as my friends! They add a certain joy to any event they attend. They keep me jumping and I still thank them for giving me my very own pom pom!

Linda Lexy just stunned me when she walked through the door! She had Shrek green nail polish with a nail decorated I think with purple flowers? Damn is that woman tall! Statuesque as they call it. I noticed that she was kind to lean down to accommodate the height challenged folks. Linda and Tino make the most fantastic pair. I have a giant crush on Tino always get my hug or lean on his shoulder in my best Niagara pose (HA! as if..)

Ivan Kral Tino Gross Linda Lexy Susie Forkin

Ivan and Tino are great friends and I know that Ivan loves his band The Howling Diablos. We have seen them many times this year as much as possible.

RK and pal Scott Morgan

Here is Scott Morgan one of the nicest of all rock icons I have met. Generous to other musicians, never has an unkind word for anyone, and has a treasure trove of rock history in his past! That guy has played everywhere worldwide and he played CBGB's and Max's Kansas City many times with his various bands.

He played with Powertrane Chris Taylor, Al King, Robert Gillespie and the phenomenal Deniz Tek (one of my best blogger clients) at John Varvatos Men's Boutique 315 Bowery. John renovated the entire building and now it is gorgeous.

Scott Morgan Deb Wentz Tino Gross and Linda Lexy

My favorite moment last night was when Scott Morgan arrived. From the back of the party someone yelled out hey! Scott Morgan is HERE! The whole room turned to see the man himself and I was overjoyed by the crowd's reaction to his appearance and I thank him for coming out and thanks so much to Deb Wentz Scott's girlfriend for coming to the movie!

Jonas from CTN TV is still working on the film of the event so check back tomorrow or Sunday to see the party live! For now I have a slide show featuring my photos combined with Susie Forkin's Thanks lovely Susie her love Albert Freud of Marios in Troy

Click the x to turn off the annoying animal Poke ad!!! I hate that!

One final thing... I would like to SHOUT OUT!

CINDY HUDSON DID A FANTASTIC JOB ON THIS SHOW

Thank you Diana!

Rock Never Stops! Thanks so much to all my friends that came out!

Hi,
Tryed to do update, and it wouldn't work.
The event coverage you did about the show was fantastic!
I knew(and know Scott)The Rationals and was a follower of the band all the year's they were together.
What can you say about Scott Morgan? His name says it all. You described him very well. "When Scott comes into a room, it light's up".
I made a scrapbook for Scott 2 yr's ago that covered all his band's through the year's. Rationals to Powertrane. Picture's, poster's, ticket stub's and even clipping's of grass from Scotts front yard when he was in the Rationals. So many memories came flooding back when I was putting it together.
Keep up the great work, and thanks again.

PEACE
Patches
