The Six of Swords card suggests that my power today lies in transition. I have what I need and am willing to trust the process order to move on, seek refuge or new opportunity. I'm not willing to remain where my perceptions are invalidated but being vulnerable I must rely on guidance to move in a new direction or trust that I can make it or be led to security and new hope. 'Wherever you go, there you are.' I am empowered by perseverance and my virtue is survival. To keep moving, because the end of a long journey is in sight!
In a more positive vein, the Six of Swords can indicate recovery. This is especially true when you have just experienced a tough time or psychological blow. During the crisis, you felt numb and disconnected; nothing mattered at all. Now you are beginning to heal and pick up the pieces of your life. The travelers in our boat are at least moving forward. They are headed toward a new place, even if they are not yet ready to eagerly embrace those shores.
In fact, the Six of Swords can indicate travel and moves of all kinds. This could mean an actual change of scene, relocation or trip, but not necessarily. A journey can also take place on the inner planes as we move from one frame of mind to another.

Statement from Dr. Maya Angelou’s Family:
Dr. Maya Angelou passed quietly in her home before 8:00 a.m. EST. Her family is extremely grateful that her ascension was not belabored by a loss of acuity or comprehension. She lived a life as a teacher, activist, artist and human being. She was a warrior for equality, tolerance and peace. The family is extremely appreciative of the time we had with her and we know that she is looking down upon us with love.
Guy B. Johnson
This world lost one of it's very finest voices today. Maya Angelou (Marguerite Johnson) age 86. Maya was one of my most important and influential hero's in my life. She was an incredible human being. Gender and color be damned, Maya was brilliant and when I first learned about her work in 1979 she was not well to the American population. A forward thinking teacher (Kathleen Steele) I had in college gave me her first autobiography.. "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings".
Maya's life is an amazing story. Her self absorbed mother Vivian, left her with her strong willed grandmother in Stamps Arkansas to live in the big city. Maya struggled to fit in as a child. She was quite tall and felt gangly.
Maya had a vast and varied career, holding jobs such as fry cook, dancer, actress, poet, educator, and brothel madam. In the late 1950s, she joined the Harlem Writers Guild, where she met a number of important African-American authors, including her friend and mentor James Baldwin
She struggled with segregation and racism. Through out her young life, Maya didn't fall victim to hate and self loathing.
Writing all through her life and at age 40 "Caged Bird" became a best seller in 1969. It remained on the list for 2 years. This book was part one of what was to become a 7 part autobiographical series..I have read them all...How Maya never lost hope or faith in her early life was so very inspirational to me as a young girl. Maya was a strong woman, smart, determined and yet forgiving of those who wished ill upon her. Her forgiving nature is what impressed me the most.
Maya was chosen to recite her poem for the Clinton Inauguration and from then she became a very famous star.
After I finished reading her first book, I scrambled to read all of her other books that were released at the time (1980). I talked of nothing but Maya for quite a long time. Then a few years later, my Mom called to tell me that Maya was on PBS that night. I finally got to see her speak on television and I was mesmerized. She spoke exactly the way she wrote. Words and images flowed from her voice just as they did from her typewriter.
I wrote my very first fan letter in 1982 to Ms Angelou and mailed it to her at Wake Forest University..Sometime later, I received a charming reply from Maya. Sadly I didn't save the letters. But I will always remember how she inspired this young girl with her courage in the face of adversity. She absolutely changed this world for the better and I will never forget her. xoK
I highly recommend her books for anyone struggling with life...
THE OBITUARY OF DR. MAYA ANGELOU Dr. Maya Angelou was born to
Vivian Baxter and Bailey Johnson in St. Louis, Missouri on April 4,
1928. She passed to her Heavenly Reward quietly on May 28, 2014 in her

daughter-in-law, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren, a nephew, a
niece, grandnieces, great-grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnephews
and a host of beloveds.
From the time she was a child, Dr. Angelou proved
that she was a unique individual with amazing commitment and focus. The
birth of her son when she was seventeen did not prevent her from
continuing in pursuit of her dreams for a creative career. From her
start as a singer in San Francisco’s Purple Onion and Hungry I in 1953
to the installation of her portrait in the Smithsonian National Portrait
Gallery in Washington, D.C. in 2014, she was continuously on a
dramatic, musical or political stage.
She was a dancer, a singer, an actress, a poet, a writer, a magazine
editor, a playwright, a film director as well as a college lecturer,
full Professor and a fearless, outspoken activist. She never let her
various vocations inhibit her activism or her willingness to speak out
against injustice and inequality. She performed in a number of major
productions. She was in both the 1954 International Touring Company and
the subsequent movie of Porgy and Bess. She was also in the 1977
television series of Alex Haley’s Roots and in the 1995 film How to make
an American Quilt. She was in too many other productions to name. She
directed the films Georgia, Georgia and Down in the Delta.
first book, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, was published in 1970. She
went on to write thirty-three other books including autobiographies,
poetry and essays. A number of her works were best sellers and were
published in number of languages.
Throughout her life Dr.
Angelou’s activism never flagged or waned. In 1959, during the height of
the Civil Rights Movement, she headed the New York office of Dr. Martin
Luther King’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Next, she
worked for the Arab Observer News Magazine in Cairo, Egypt, which was
the premiere English language magazine in the Middle East. Later she
moved to Ghana and met Malcolm X.
She returned to the United States to
work for him, but he was assassinated four days after her arrival in New
York. She continued to be voice of humanity, speaking out against
anything that fettered the human spirit. Her life and her body of
literary work trumpet the importance of love, tolerance and forgiveness.
She was a warrior for truth, justice and love.
Halt and Catch Fire, known by the mnemonic HCF, refers to several computer machine code instructions that cause the CPU to cease meaningful operation. The expression "catch fire" is intended as a joke; the CPU does not literally catch fire, but it does stop functioning. It is also occasionally referred to as "SDI" for "Self Destruct Immediate". AMC’s new original series Halt and Catch Fire debuts this Sunday, June 1 at 10/9c on AMC. Want to delve into the series before it begins? Here are ten ways to get ready:
According to company legend, prior to the start of the American Civil War, while a clerk at the Higby & Sterns drugstore in Detroit, James Vernor experimented with flavors in an attempt to duplicate a popular ginger ale imported from Dublin, Ireland.
Vernor's Ginger Ale - 'Woody'the Vernor's Gnome has been the brand's mascot used from the turn of the century until 1987. He returned after a hiatus in 2002.
When Vernor was called off to serve in the war, he stored the syrup base of 19 ingredients, including ginger, vanilla and other natural flavorings, in an oaken cask. Vernor joined the 4th Michigan Cavalry on August 14, 1862 as a hospital steward, was promoted to second lieutenant on September 20, 1864, and was discharged on July 1, 1865.
The official name of the gnome mascot who adorns the bottles is Woody. The artist who first drew him was named Noble Fellows. Wouldn't "Noble Fellows" have been a much cooler name?
After returning from battle four years later, he opened the keg and found the drink inside had been changed by the aging process in the wood. It was like nothing else he had ever tasted, and he purportedly declared it "Deliciously different," which remains the drink's motto to this day.
In 1968, a Vernors advertising artist (Ron Bialecki) decided to grow out his beard and become the gnome (a.k.a Noble Fellows).

The sign has eight hundred and sixteen lamps constantly moving, filling the glass with the finest drink ever. They sell the Extract; Anyone can make the ale. c. 1900 (Detroit Hist. Soc.)
He decked out a yellow AMC Pacer in Vernors swag, including a barrel, called it the Gnome Mobile, and became the unofficial mascot at James Vernor Elementary School.

Air Marshal Alex Badeh, center, Nigeria's chief of defense staff, speaks in Abuja during a demonstration calling on the government to rescue the schoolgirls held by the militant group Boko Haram. (Gbenga Olamikan / Associated Press)
Nigeria's military says it knows where kidnapped girls are...Nigeria reportedly in secret talks with Boko Haram for release of schoolgirls..Nigerian official on kidnapped girls: 'We know where they are, but we cannot tell you'
"We can't go and kill our girls in the name of trying to get them back," he said after demonstrators marched to military headquarters in Abuja, the capital, a few days after trying to march to President Goodluck Jonathan's office. He met demonstrators and spoke to journalists.
Badeh offered no information as to how the military planned to recover the girls, other than to rule out force.
"We want our girls back. I can tell you we can do it. Our military can do it. But where they are held, can we go with force?" FULL STORY HERE
The Queen of Cups card suggests that my power today lies in intuition and drama. I trust my intuition and nurture an environment of deep devotion, patience, and intense passion. I mirror my hearts desire and am never too busy to connect to those who trust, love and need me. "It's the thought that counts." Many can say "I would die for them" -- only I can live for them -- spoken with sincerity by a true "Drama Queen." I am empowered by embracing my emotions as a gift and unconditional love is my Holy Grail or gift.

The Ten of Wands card suggests that my power today lies in conscience. "He ain't heavy, he's my brother." I own responsibility for the baggage I have chosen to carry but I am ready to lay the weight of a burden or secret I have been hiding behind where it belongs in order to reconcile my conscience. Do I want to be right or alone? I am empowered by blind faith in fulfilling my purpose or greater good to "just do it," and I transform through in passion or direction in principle.

Steve Perry performed publicly on Sunday (May 25) evening for the first time since the ’90s in an unusual setting. The former Journey vocalist made a surprise appearance at a concert by alternative rock band Eels during their show at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN.
Together, Perry and Eels delivered faithful renditions of Journey’s hits ‘Open Arms,’ and ‘Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’, the latter of which prompted a hearty sing-along from those in attendance. Whether they appreciated that they were witnessing a historic event of sorts or not, the audience ate up every moment of Perry’s appearance on stage.

One of the creepiest mothers of all time has finally died....glad she's gone.....Sante Kimes, the maternal side of a murderous mother-and-son grifter team, died on Monday in her prison cell in Westchester County, N.Y. She was 79.
Officials at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility confirmed the death.
Ms. Kimes had been in prison for a decade, serving a 120-year sentence for her role in a pair of gruesome murders that turned her and her son, Kenneth Kimes Jr., into vivid subjects for television writers and newspaper reporters. With her taste for Victorian evening wear and a long history of larceny, Ms. Kimes, the daughter of an Oklahoma prostitute, rocketed to notoriety in 1998 when she and Mr. Kimes were charged in New York with the murder of Irene Silverman, an 82-year-old widowed socialite, in a scheme to seize her $10 million townhouse on East 65th Street.
One of the very finest of Detroit's old neighborhoods is the Boston Edison district. The Gordy Mansion is there and many other very well kept homes. There are 13 homes in various stages of disrepair up for auction to people who have the money and energy to take on a rehab project of this size. They may win a cheap deal on a hoe but the repairs needed are not for the "faint of heart". It is exciting to see the beauty of Detroit real estate coming back to life. Briggs, Frank Navin, James Couzens, Henry Ford, Horace Rackham, Clarence Burton, S.S. Kresge, four of the seven Fisher brothers, plus their mother, Margaret Fisher.

The Two of Chalices card suggests that my power today lies in compromise. I am not alone. I offer and accept love, support, and happiness to connect with the pleasure and beauty of my hearts desire. There are two sides to everything and I don't always have to be right. I am empowered by expression and my gift is attraction.
