KIMMER AND DEE IN YPSI AT THE SIDETRACK!

Finally got my driver's license and car tags legal at last! So my first road trip was to Depot Town to find my girl pal DEE Gilbert! We went to our favorite Ypsi bar THE SIDETRACK....

Dee and I have not hung out in a very long time so it was FABULOUS to catch up and see her new digs....We of course went to the SIDETRACK IN DEPOT TOWN.....it was packed as always...Dee is from Union Lake and I gave her a brief driving tour of my home town...Loved driving in the sunny weather.

We ordered almost the same dinners. Sidetrack has the BEST corned beef sandwiches. Dee had the Reuben and I had the corned beef on rye with coleslaw...Both were to die for...couple of beers and martinis too....such fun!

Jason Colegrove and Kimmer

Loved our charming waiter Jason Colegrove....he is a musician and is originally from DETROIT...He has worked in Greektown, Fishbones (love that place),  managed Soup Kitchen Saloon, and many other gigs in the D.

Jason then moved to Ann Arbor and opened Rush Street. worked at Goodnight Gracies, and LIVE before landing at the famous Sidetrack.... working for our pal Linda French!

FOCUS ON STRENGTH

What Should I Focus On?
Strength
Card 1 (Strength) : »

This may be a time when the only things which will get you through are good old fashioned courage and bravery.

Some say that we are not measured by our successes, but how we deal with our failures. This implies the choice between wallowing in our negative thoughts and emotions, or hauling ourselves up by the boot straps and finding the courage to go on.

If you want a promotion or you are seeking a new job, but set backs and rejections are making you feel like a failure, keep applying - don't give up.

In the area of love, have the courage to do what's right for you. Avoid focusing on loss, rejection and loneliness, and instead focus on the possibility that you will find the kind of love and relationship you desire ... or that it will find you!

In the area of finances, focus on the money that's coming in, and find ways to increase the flow, rather than focusing on any expenses or losses that are draining your resources.

POWERFUL SUPERMOON & TOTAL ECLIPSE OF EQUINOX SUN ON MARCH 20!

http://www.space.com/28820-total-solar-eclipse-march-2015.html

This March 20th ushers in a new awakening powered not just by the Spring Equinox, but also by a total Solar Eclipse! And after an emotional first two weeks of March, you can finally relax and enjoy yourself, while letting bygones be bygones.

This week, the moon will completely cover the disk of the sun, creating a solar eclipse that only a small part of the world can see.

The March 20 total solar eclipse event will be the first since Nov. 3, 2013. The dark umbral shadow cone of the moon will trace a curved path primarily over the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, beginning off the southern tip of Greenland and then winding its way counterclockwise to the northeast, passing between Iceland and the United Kingdom.

The shadow will then pass over the Danish-owned Faroe Islands, the sparsely inhabited Norwegian island group of Svalbard and then it will hook counterclockwise toward the northwest, where it leaves the Earth’s surface just short of the North Pole.

If you don't have the chance to see the solar eclipse in person, you can catch it live online. The online Slooh Community Observatory will broadcast live views of the solar eclipse through its website Slooh.com, beginning at 4:30 a.m. EDT (0830 GMT).

You can also watch the total solar eclipse webcast on Space.com on March 20, courtesy of Slooh. The Virtual Telescope Project will also air live views of the eclipse through the project's website beginning at 4 a.m. EDT (0800 GMT), and it will also be carried on Space.com if possible.

BUFFY SAINTE-MARIE: POWER IN THE BLOOD

True North Records today announces details of the forthcoming 16th studio album by the iconic artist Buffy Sainte-Marie. The bold new album, Power in the Blood, her first album in more than 6 years, is set for release on May 12, 2015.

Power in the Blood is a sculpture of an artist ever-evolving and a statement of a life’s work realized - challenging, empowering, and celebrating the listener with each and every song. Featuring all but two original tracks, the album starts unpredictably with a re-imagined version of “It’s My Way,” a song that originally appeared on her acclaimed debut album. The new recording of “It’s My Way” demonstrates how her work can transcend generations and still inspire individualism and self-expression 50 years after it was written. Today, NPR Music premiered the track where writer Ann Powers stated "The song is a blessing, ever renewing itself — as relevant as the voice of the glorious elder who offers it."

LISTEN: Buffy Sainte-Marie's "It's My Way" on NPR Music:
http://www.npr.org/2015/03/17/393553697/buffy-sainte-marie-its-my-way

Recorded in Toronto, Sainte-Marie enlisted three different producers, a first for her, to help shape Power in the Blood. Michael Phillip Wojewoda (Barenaked Ladies, Rheostatics), Jon Levine (Nelly Furtado, K’NAAN), and Chris Birkett (Sinéad O'Connor, Bob Geldof). Birkett has worked with Sainte-Marie on four albums, beginning with the 1992 release Coincidence and Likely Stories. He recognized from the start that Sainte-Marie was a singular force. “She pays a lot of attention to her lyrics,” Birkett says, “and when Buffy says something, she actually means something.”

Throughout her incredible half-century career each era has revealed new and distinctive shades of an artist revered for her pioneering and chameleon ways. There was no mold from which Buffy Sainte-Marie emerged; she created her own, ripened from experiences in both her head and her heart. Power in the Blood is a reminder that, five decades on, Sainte-Marie is a voice as vital and significant as ever. Like so much of Sainte-Marie’s work, it’s universal. “I love words, I love thinking, and I recognize and value the core of a universal idea simplified into a three-minute song,” says Sainte-Marie. “What appeals to me in folk music are the songs that have lasted for generations, but I wasn’t trying to be one of those guys. I want to give people something original.”

Power In The Blood Track List:
01) It's My Way
02) Power in the Blood
03) We Are Circling
04) Not the Lovin' Kind

*NEW BOOK* DETROIT *67

Detroit67 is the story of the city of Detroit in the most dramatic and creative year in its history. It is the story of Motown, the breakup of The Supremes and the implosion of the most successful African-American record label ever, set against a backdrop of urban riots, escalating war in Vietnam and police corruption.

The book weaves through the year as counterculture arrives in Detroit and the city's other famous group the proto-punk band MC5 go to war with mainstream America. The year ends in intense legal warfare as the threads that bind Detroit together unravel and leave a chaos that scars the city for decades to come.

JD SOUTHER RELEASES NEW ALBUM TENDERNESS

AVAILABLE MAY 12, 2015 ON SONY MUSIC MASTERWORKS

Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, iconic musician and actor JD Souther releases his new album Tenderness via Sony Music Masterworks. Produced by Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux, Melody Gardot, Herbie Hancock), the album will be available on May 12, 2015 and supported by select tour dates across the country and internationally.

“JD Souther is both a legendary and mysterious figure in American popular music,” says Chuck Mitchell, SVP of Sony Music Masterworks. “He’s a self-described ‘classicist’ who, in his new work, draws a through line between the first great songbook of Porter, Kern, etc., and his own generation’s massive impact on the art of the song. The result is an album that brings a new and fresh perspective to this amazing singer-songwriter’s contributions.”

“Now there are many ways to listen to music, and my intention is, as always, that each song tell its own story,” adds Souther. “However, Tenderness is designed as a set. I invite you to enjoy it this way."

“JD Souther proves once again why he’s an American treasure,” says Irving Azoff., the music industry icon whose company manages Souther.

Called “an American songwriting treasure” (Creative Loafing), with a “musical history that is improbably rich” (San Diego Union Tribune), Souther’s Tenderness continues the new path in sound and style that he has forged since his return to recording in 2008; but at the same time, the album is unlike anything he has previously recorded. Joining Souther on guitar and vocals are longtime collaborators pianist Chris Walters and saxophonist Jeff Coffin; as well as new friends, vocalist Lizz Wright and trumpet master Till Brönner. Jazz piano legend and recent Grammy Award winner Billy Childs is on board as well; he also has arranged the elegant and searing strings on half the album’s tracks.

On Tenderness, Souther balances his pop and jazz sensibilities paying particular homage to his earliest influences, the geniuses of the 20th Century Great American Songbook, while maintaining the signature qualities that have made him one of the true contemporary giants of American song.

Souther is best known penning countless hits for the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Roy Orbison, James Taylor, Don Henley, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Brooks and Dunn and others; while establishing a cult following as a performer with the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band and as a solo artist.

As an actor, he has appeared in the TV Shows Thirtysomething and Nashville, among others. A passionate animal lover and advocate, JD is also involved with Best Friends Animal Society.

THE WORLD: NEW BEGINNINGS

The World:
Embrace now as a joyful day. At the start, look in the mirror and see the joy that's already in your eyes. Work with contentment, spend quality time with friends and family, and share your love of life with every stranger you meet. You don't have to be overbearing and surprise people with your happiness. What you truly feel will shine on its own. The little things may bring you the most joy.

You have finally accomplished your goal or purpose. Everything has come together, and you are in the right place, doing the right thing, achieving what you have envisioned, and feeling fulfilled and complete. In this sense, the World card also heralds new beginnings that naturally emerge out of the completion cycle.

STRENGTH: DETERMINATION AND POWER

Strength:
Anger could raise its ugly little head today, but you have things under control. Don't engage, if possible, and tactfully deflect the worst of whatever misunderstanding caused the outbreak. If it's repressed anger, there may never be any loud or angry words. You can smooth any ruffled feathers simply by standing up and not being intimidated or rushed into any action or opinion. Be at your best today.

The Strength Tarot card represents strength, determination, and power in a manner similar to the Chariot. However, the differences between the two Tarot cards are obvious. Where the Chariot represents outer strength and will, the Strength card represents inner strength and the power of the human spirit to overcome any obstacle. The meaning of the Strength Tarot card is about knowing that you can endure life’s obstacles by drawing upon your inner strength and confidence. You have great stamina and persistence, tempered by an underlying patience and inner calm. You are focused on what you need to do, and you go about it in a way that demonstrates great composure and maturity.

The Strength Tarot card also reflects a compassionate approach. You are like the woman in this card who offers love and patience to the ferocious lion in order to be able to tame him. You give others space and you are tolerant of their needs. You are accepting and can easily forgive any imperfections. In doing this, you create a safe and trusting environment where you can then gently influence others. This demonstrates a level of ‘soft’ control, persuading and coaxing others to your way of thinking.

THE BEST OF THE GUESS WHO NEW RELEASE ON SACD

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing The Guess Who's “The Best Of Guess Who” album on Limited Edition 4.0 Quad Hybrid SACD in April 2015. They didn't have street cred; they didn't look like stars; and they weren't considered "cool" by the ultra hip and snooty underground FM rock crowd.

But over the course of their career, The Guess Who created some of the most transcendent and electrifying pop music of the Seventies. The Guess Who stubbornly flew in the face of fashion, trends, and the flourishing progressive rock movement, and built an enduring body of work that illuminates their status as immensely gifted pop rock practitioners.

Though influenced by the British Invasion, The Guess Who were purely Canadian rockers. The band scored a string of Top Ten hits in the late '60s and early '70s, including the psychedelic-romantic smash "These Eyes" and the riff-rocking anthem "American Woman." The band was a huge success in the States and even performed at President Nixon's inaugural ball (with the acerbic "American Woman" conspicuously omitted from the set list).

Burton Cummings' throaty baritone vocals and guitarist Randy Bachman's theatrical riffs gave the band their versatile sound - and their rocking classics sound as vital today as they did when they were first released.

As a special bonus that audiophiles and fans alike are sure to enjoy, Audio Fidelity has included in each package a miniature version of the coveted psychedelic poster that was contained in the original 1971 vinyl album release!

The Magician card affirms that my alter ego today is the Imagineer or Director, whose superpower is a state-of-the-art design force. By bringing free will and intention together with natural principles, the creative process is transformed into a blueprint for success. The spell is cast, and I don't have to see it to believe it.

I can apply or advance new ideas and entertain new possibilities with resourceful and inventive attention to detail. I lay it on the line. I set the stage for performing my own enterprising experiments to make it over and make it work. I leave it all behind so that I can simplify or renovate the formula. I read between the lines for tips and tricks to following conventional methods and guarding my reputation and my privacy.

The Magician card sees you creating success in everything that you do. This is a Tarot card about manifesting your goals by utilising the skills, tools and resources that are available to you. The Magician suggests that you will come up with creative ways to solve problems and you will be able to use your existing knowledge and networks to arrive at solutions.

The Magician Tarot card is a good omen when you have a specific wish, when you begin a project involving creativity, or when you need to make a transformation of any kind. This is a great Tarot card for meditation when you need to call all the elements for help and wisdom.

The Magician Tarot card indicates that you can benefit from your creative forces if you can claim your power and act with awareness and concentration. FULL MOON IN VIRGO MARCH 5 2015

On March 5th, 2015, a head over heart matter will take center stage, lighting up the night sky.

Sometimes our hearts want what our heads are telling us is never going to happen. It’s a balancing act that is tough to master and one that arrives with the Virgo Full Moon taking place at this time.

A Full moon comes around once a month and each time it does there’s a pull of energy taking place in our lives as a result. It’s also a time of great awareness and inner clarity. Our ability to see things in full focus is always higher and it’s important to be mindful of the energies in play—in order to make good use of them.

During this month’s Full Moon, the signs of Virgo (head/logical realm) and Pisces (heart/feelings realm) will be staring each other down. Virgo is the realm of logic, organization, precision and details. It’s great at noticing the details and getting things organized to a tee. Pisces on the other hand cares a lot less about the details and loves swimming in a ton of feelings and letting her creative energy flow. It’s great at lending a helping hand, coming to the rescue of someone in need and finding beauty in imperfection. READ MORE HERE
