NEW DOCUMENTARY ABOUT ROCK PHOTOGRAPHER LENI SINCLAIR!

Leni Sinclair Photo:  MC5 and friends

One of my favorite heroes of photography has always been Ms. Leni Sinclair. She was there with cameras in 1968 when the MC5 made their inconic live LP at the Grande Ballroom.

Leni had the forethought to capture that music with stills and video. Thankfully! Leni combined her art form with promotion and marketing to help forge the image of the MC5.

Dennis Thompson Hill St ann Arbor Photo by Leni Sinclair

Leni's story is not only about her being creatively business minded but also about standing up for your beliefs and includes her activism, feminism, civil rights, culture, and art. It’s a rock and roll rebellion story, it’s very timely.

The filmmakers Jennifer Baross and Jack P Johnson have picked a great person to honor with this film.

Leni is also a fabulous mom and grandma too! Go Leni!! xoxK

WYETH: AMERICAN MASTERS “ARTISTS FLIGHT” ON PBS

WYETH tells the story of one of America’s most popular, but least understood, artists – Andrew Wyeth. Son of the famous illustrator N.C. Wyeth, Andrew had his first exhibition at age 20, and his painting “Christina’s World” was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in 1948.

While Wyeth’s exhibitions routinely broke attendance records, art world critics continually assaulted his work. Detailing the stunning drawings and powerful portraits he created in Chadds Ford, Pa. and on the coast of Cushing, Maine, WYETH explores his inspirations, including neighbor Christina Olsen and his hidden muse, the German model Helga Testorf, who he painted secretly for 15 years.

Through unprecedented access to Wyeth’s family members, including sons Jamie and Nicholas Wyeth, and never-before-seen archival materials from the family’s personal collection and hundreds of Wyeth’s studies, drawings and paintings, American Masters presents the most complete portrait of the artist yet — bearing witness to a legacy just at the moment it is evolving.

Directed by Glenn Holsten, the film will be available on Digital HD on September 8 and on DVD September 11 via PBS Distribution.

THE CROWN SEASON 3 HIRES JOSH O'CONNOR AND MARION BAILEY!

Stewart Clarke: Variety

Rising British star Josh O’Connor will play Prince Charles in Netflix’s hit series “The Crown.” He will step into the role of the heir to the throne for the show’s upcoming third and fourth seasons. The producers also announced Thursday that Marion Bailey (“Allied”) will play Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

O’Connor was lauded for his starring role in indie British film “God’s Own Country,” which won him the best-actor prize at the British Independent Film Awards last December. He has also been nominated as a BAFTA Rising Star.

“I am thrilled to be joining The Firm for the next installment of ‘The Crown,'” said O’Connor, who replaces Julian Baring in the role. “Seasons 3 and 4 will follow some of the most turbulent events in the Prince of Wales’ life and our national story, and I’m excited to be bringing to life the man in the midst of it all. I’m very aware it’s a formidably talented family to be joining, but reliably informed I have the ears for the part and will fit right in.” Read More Here

MADISON DANIEL NEW AUSSIE POP STAR HAS NEW RELEASE!

Madison Daniel is a fast-rising 20-year-old singer-songwriter and actress whose roots in the seaside town of Mount Martha, Melbourne, Australia, lend her a unique sound that encompasses all genres, from pop to indie and even rock and hip hop.

Madison was first introduced to playing music by her grandfather, who shared a love of the piano and taught her how to play. Soon after, Madison picked up the guitar and hasn't put it down since.

Madison's first taste of acting was at age 13, when she played Claudia Howard on the popular Australian show, 'Neighbours,' and later went back on the show at age 15 for on ongoing role as Josie Lamb.

This was a crowning moment for the budding performer, as she recalled being told at a very early age by her own intuitive mother that she would be on the show – and she did it. Madison's other television credits include 'Winners and Losers' and playing Hugo Weavings daughter Rachel in 2017 ABC series 'Seven Types of Ambiguity'.

In parallel with her budding acting career, Madison continued to focus on music. Pulling influence from her jazz and blues multi-instrumentalist grandfather, her rock band singing Aunt, her dad's love of rock n' roll and her mum's alternative preference, Madison developed a sound all her own.

As a mentor to Madison, producer, Paul Beard, exposed the budding songstress to lessons outside the classroom and in the music industry. Beard, who has worked with James Blunt, Leona Lewis and other big name artists, helped Madison gain the knowledge and experience needed to make her mark with a worldwide audience.

Crediting life and connecting with others around her as inspiration for her music, Madison is passionate about allowing others to feel through her art. As a versatile artist, Madison's influences led her to writing songs, from sad love ballads to acoustic-rap, and with such a varying compilation of sounds, Madison wants people and her fans to feel with laughter, tears and love, when listening to her music.

PURCHASE: When I Fall Asleep LP

In July 2018, Madison's Australian commercial hit record, 'Love Is Love', officially made its U.S. debut by way of Spotify, and a soon-to-be released music video. The song delves into why we as human beings need to rid ourselves and our world of judgement and bias, and allow our fellow human beings to love as they wish.

The song was originally written in celebration of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Australia, an issue near and dear to Madison's heart, but its message is worldwide and certainly relevant to the U.S. political climate.

BEAUTY REDEFINED: SELINE SHENOY ADDRESSES TRUE BEAUTY

(The last group of people that are mocked universally)

Anger is spreading like wildfire surrounding Netflix’s controversial new series, 'Insatiable', which encourages the toxic message that women must become thin and pretty to make friends, especially in high school. With no plans for cancellation in sight, how can we teach our girls that true beauty is defined by character—instead of appearance?

“Don’t waste any more time living in a state of despondency because you don’t match up to the shallow standards of mainstream attractiveness,” says life coach Seline Shenoy, author Beauty Redefined. “This is your life and only you have the power and capacity to make it one amazing journey!”

Shenoy—founder and writer of the influential The Dream Catcher blog community—is challenging this quest for perfection. some of the important topics She addresses:

  • Poor body image and low self-worth: The damaging influence this Netflix series can have on every aspect of a woman’s life.
  • Igniting the beauty revolution: What we need to do as individuals—and as a society—to truly redefine our obsession with appearance when determining a person’s value.
  • Tips and tricks for recognizing your unique brand of beauty, embracing your power, and making your mark on the world.
  • Ten traits of a modern day “True Beauty” (TB) and how to apply these traits to achieve meaningful things in your life.
  • The “Beauty Premium:” Unspoken benefits of beauty and the toxic role it plays in the workplace.

THE EMPEROR: POWER SUCCESS AND REPUTATION

Lotus Tarot:

The Emperor card refers to worldly acclaim and ambition. It indicates a need to step up to the plate and assume a position of authority.

Whether that means striving for professional success or wielding your own personal power, it speaks of honoring commitments and taking care of business.

This is not the time to be passive or wishy-washy. It's time to take control of your life with a firm hand and authoritative presence. Hard work, perseverance and determination are all required: nothing will come to you through sheer luck or wishful thinking.

You may be called upon to counsel another or to offer guidance based on the wisdom of your own experience. In this respect your greatest gift may be the ability to truly hear what others have to say without judgment or censure.

Although there are definite masculine elements to this card, the references don't only apply to men. It can refer to a single mother, a career-woman, or a woman with important responsibilities. It can also describe a man in your life (or someone new coming in) who embodies these qualities.

The Emperor card is all about power, success, reputation and public standing. But these are all relative terms and are not necessarily related to profession. They're just as likely tied to responsibilities around the home or within a group of peers. MORE

GENE SIMMONS NEW BOOK: 27: THE LEGEND AND MYTHOLOGY OF THE 27 CLUB:

27: THE LEGEND AND MYTHOLOGY OF THE 27 CLUB, the inaugural release of the new SIMMONS BOOKS series, is Simmons’ witty, insightful, and no-BS take on the myth, and the actual people, that make up the “27 club”—the ground-breaking musicians, artists, and celebrities who died at the age of twenty-seven, frozen in the collective consciousness at the zenith of their creative output.

The summer of 1969 was a momentous one in modern history. It was a season punctuated with change. Apollo 11 landed on the moon, thousands of young fans flocked to rock ‘n’ roll festivals like Woodstock and the controversial Altamont Freeway concert, the Manson Family cult were on a high-profile killing spree, and the first uprisings that would become the Stonewall Riots began. It was an electric summer of violent endings, new beginnings, and social unrest.

It was also the summer that a myth was born–beginning with the tragic, untimely death of Rolling Stones founder, Brian Jones. The world soon lost two more huge music stars: Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. Not only did losing these three beacons of music culture seem to signal the end of a musical era, it also felt like a foreboding sign; they had all died at exactly the same age. All three had lost their lives at the pinnacle of their creative output, and all three were exactly 27 years old.

People have speculated that there could be a dastardly lineage, from the poisoning of blues pioneer Robert Johnson in 1938, through these icons of the 60s, and more recently to rebel chanteuse Amy Winehouse’s death from alcohol poisoning in 2011. Could it be a twisted fate that the world’s very best creative souls come to early, often violent, deaths at just 27 years old? Over time, this idea began to be known as, “the 27 club,” and it has persisted in the public imagination.

In 27: The Legend & Mythology Of The 27 Club, rock ‘n’ roll icon Gene Simmons takes a deep dive into the life stories of these legendary figures, without giving credence to the romanticized idea that being in the “club” is somehow a perverse privilege. Simmons wills us to acknowledge the extraordinary lives, not the sensational deaths, of the musicians and artists who left an indelible mark on the world.

Gene Simmons is the co-founder of KISS–America's #1 Gold Record Award Winning Group Of All Time, In All Categories (RIAA), Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees since 2014, and 45 years strong as one of rock’s most influential bands. With KISS, Simmons has recorded 44 albums and sold over 100 million records worldwide, and the band continues to sell out stadium tours today.

Simmons is also a bestselling author, boasting New York Times bestsellers Me, Inc. and On Power among others, and has founded a number of hugely successful businesses, including the restaurant chain Rock & Brews.
