Once they went "commercial" we bailed on them."
Don't get me wrong here, I'm proud of the fact tha Bob came outta A2-and he is GREAT, but he kinda "bailed" on us before we did him, at least for awhile. It was tough to catch a Seger show anywhere--especially in a small venue--from the time of OP's to SEVEN (even though A2-Detroit legends such as Jim McCarty, et. al. had such a strong presence in much of that music).
The first post-late60s-early70s Seger show I saw was at Second Chance (Maybe it was Chances Are) the night before the release of BEAUTIFUL LOSER and he gave his all at the bar and we rocked with him, estatic that Bob Seger was BACK in A2 and on his way to true super-stardom.
The next A2 Seger show (maybe the next night, I'm a bit fuzzy on that) I DO KNOW that THE ROCKETS were on the bill and it was at Crisler and we all gave our allegiance solidly back to Bob--HE ROCKED and Alto (and the rest of that Motor City band) blew us away, too! Then we/he kinda bailed us/him again...
PS--I will never forget how THE ROCKETS rocked Crisler that night, bur when Seger came on it was like they had cranked the sound and energy to "11"--Should have been a major launching for Bee and the guys, but...
Just some fuzzy memories and a VERY humble opinion...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3856333241837525662.post-42124973629628399382010-12-16T19:15:24.657-05:002010-12-16T19:15:24.657-05:00I see you have been busy, a GREAT piece, Kimmer!
