JOHNNY DEPP TAKES ON WHITEY BULGER IN BLACK MASS

I am going to see this film in a theater. The story of Boston Crime Boss James Whitey Bulgar comes to terrifying life in Black Mass which is in theaters now.

Johnny Depp's transformation in this role is stunning..he really looks like Whitey Bulgar. Perhaps an Oscar Nomination may be in the works for Johnny....

Question: How did Whitey Bulger evade capture for so many years?

While his brother Bill (Benedict Cumberbatch) remains a powerful leader in the Massachusetts Senate, Irish hoodlum James "Whitey" Bulger (Johnny Depp) continues to pursue a life of crime in 1970s Boston.

Approached by FBI agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton), the lawman convinces Whitey to help the agency fight the Italian mob. As their unholy alliance spirals out of control, Bulger increases his power and evades capture to become one of the most dangerous gangsters in U.S. history.

Depp transforms into notorious Boston gangster Whitey Bulger for the crime drama, which comes from Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper.

We were just writing about scary Todd Jesse Plemons starring in Fargo Season 2 and here he is in Black Mass...

BOSTON EDISON HOMES IN DETROIT UP FOR AUCTION!

This house has handsome Tudor styling and will be the first sold.

One of the very finest of Detroit's old neighborhoods is the Boston Edison district. The Gordy Mansion is there and many other very well kept homes. There are 13 homes in various stages of disrepair up for auction to people who have the money and energy to take on a rehab project of this size.  They may win a cheap deal on a hoe but the repairs needed are not for the "faint of heart". It is exciting to see the beauty of Detroit real estate coming back to life. JOIN THIS SITE TO BID ON A PROPERTY

The auction of vacant homes in Detroit — which aims to put empty homes that need repair into the hands of owners who'll do it — will open its new phase Tuesday in the elegant Boston-Edison Historic District. 13 homes will be auctioned online.

Here, 13 houses will be auctioned online — one house per day — from Tuesday through June 8. It’s a collection of fine homes mostly built in the 1920s by Detroit’s celebs and gentry of the day.

“This was the place to live in its heyday,” said architect Rob Saxon, chief architect at the Detroit Land Bank Authority, which is running the sale. “There was everything from athletes, Ty Cobb and Joe Louis, to dignitaries to the auto manufacturers.” Other names on that list include Walter O. Briggs, Frank Navin, James Couzens, Henry Ford, Horace Rackham, Clarence Burton, S.S. Kresge, four of the seven Fisher brothers, plus their mother, Margaret Fisher.

The Auction

■ Each house is open for sale one day only, 9-5. Bidding is online.
■ Bidders must register with a credit card. If that bidder wins, $1,000 is charged immediately.
■ Winning bidders have three days to pay the balance of 10% down and sign a letter of Intent to Purchase.
■ Winners have 30 days to execute a contract for repairs or prove they can DIY.
■ Winners have six months to complete repairs, or nine months in a historic district.
■ Failing at any of these requirements means losing the money paid to date.
■ Only Michigan residents or business that work in the state can bid.
■ A complete list of houses and rules is at www.buildingdetroit.org.

JAMES WHITEY BULGER FINALLY GETS LIFE IN PRISON

This is a rather anticlimactic ending for the Whitey Bulger case. At his advanced age, he is more or less "retiring" in prison. He get free medical and dental. He'll get 3 squares and free rent. Not so bad eh?

WHITEY BULGER has finally been convicted. But when will there be an accounting for FBI complicity in allowing Whitey Bulger to run amok and commit unspeakable crimes of murder through mayhem, back when he was an FBI informant? Don’t hold your breath...

Bulger, 83, stood passively in US District Court on the same South Boston waterfront where he committed some of his crimes, as a clerk repeatedly proclaimed “guilty” to 31 of the 32 counts with which he had been charged. As he was led away, he turned and gave a thumbs-up sign to his family members, before he was heckled by a relative of one of his many victims.

Mob Kingpin Whitey Bulger Calls Murder Trial A ‘Neck Tie Party And Stacked Deck’ As He Speaks For The First Time Post-Conviction

Los Angeles Times

James "Whitey" Bulger will spend the rest of his life in prison, a federal judge ordered today, capping a trial that detailed the Boston mobster’s decades-long reign of terror.

A federal court jury convicted Bulger in August of 11 counts of murder, as well as multiple counts of racketeering and gun possession. The two-month trial came years after the crimes; Bulger, now 84, had been a fugitive for 16 years until his 2011 arrest in Santa Monica.

The judge sentenced Bulger to two consecutive life terms plus five years, the punishment sought by prosecutors. Bulger's lawyers did not weigh in on sentencing; they said he had instructed them not to because he considered the trial a sham.
