6 LIFE LESSONS YOU LEARN IN COLLEGE
6 Life Lessons You Learn in College
If you’ve just crossed the college threshold, or you’re about to graduate, there is so much academic years teach you about yourself, the others, and the world you live in. Let’s check some of the marvelous things that university or college has taught you and shaped your personality.
Grown-ups Don’t Know What They’re Doing Either
That’s what you’ve hoped for, right? You know you’re just wandering around in life hoping for the moment when you’re an adult finally and can easily figure things out. When a teenager, you feel jealous of those grown-ups who seem to understand the meaning of life. Well, the sad reality is that they have not the slightest idea of what you are doing in life either! Even those people who look like they’re cool with life and stuff really don’t. They just pretend, no more and no less.
Mental Health Is Just Above Everything!
We cannot stress this part enough! If you do not live in harmony with yourself, you’re not going to be happy with what surrounds you. Students try to cover up any uncertainty and unhappiness with partying hard, drinking, oversleeping, or just trying to lose themselves in something, but that is not all right.
As you’re getting through your own struggle with depression during your first college year, make sure to force yourself to start focusing on yourself, doing things for yourself, and realizing that you can’t live a happy life by limiting what you do based on what others have to say.
If you’re feeling confused or lost with your current freshman stage, ensure to have the so-called self-care day. Just set aside a Saturday night, put on that ridiculously overpriced facemask, enjoy your favorite film, and sip juice or wine if you’re not underage in your cute pajamas. This special ritual will help you to dream away from reality and feel content.
Everybody Needs Somebody…Sometime
Difficult situations suck. No matter how hard you try, you can’t be equally good at Math, Arts, Literature and Sociology class! That’s life, and you’re just a busy human. Don’t try to be a hero since sooner or later you’re going to fail trying to do it all at once. Admit that you need help and do not be shy or selfish to approach someone for it.
The best thing is that nowadays the internet provides a lot of options for any sort of academic assignment from a quick essay on ‘Hamlet’ to a detailed lab report on Chemistry.
Just text ‘Please, write my essay for me’ or ‘Help me finish my lab report till Monday’ and have someone by your side ready to assist 24/7.
Friends Come and Go
Chances are you believe that everyone you meet during college years is going to be your best friends till the end of your days. From your suitemates to your roommates. WRONG. Without a doubt, the first several weeks of college, every person you encounter is so friendly with you because you’re in the same boat now – homesick, challenged, confused and lonely. As the days are passing by, students’ true nature will start being visible, and you’ll begin to realize that.
You may believe you’re BFF because you talk every day, you have the same classes, share your meals, and get along really great. But then comes the summer break and you return to college complete strangers. Some friends just aren’t forever. That’s life.
A+ Isn’t the Dream
This is something the vast majority of students tend to struggle with when they start adjusting to the part-time jobs, to living a social life, and the desire to work out regularly. Over time, you’ll learn that being happy, satisfied with life is more important than getting an A+ for homework.
Try Everything
These two words carefully sum up everything mentioned above. Being a student means exploring life and trying new things. It’s about figuring out who you are and making mistakes on the way. Go to that pantomime class. Get the role in that play. Explore the city with a new friend even though she seems to be a weirdo. Meet new people. Make your college years the ones that you’ll always remember like ‘Wow, that time rocked my life!’

CARLOS MARCELLO: THE GODFATHER OF NEW ORLEANS
Godfather Carlos Marcello
Carlos Marcello, Santo Trafficante Jr., and Frank Ragano left to right, were among a group of mobsters and attorneys who dined at La Stella Restaurant.
Thom L. Jones has written a 6-page profile of legendary New Orleans Mafia boss Carlos Marcello. It details his origins, how he began his life of crime, became a made member and rose to become one of America's most powerful organized crime figures. One rumored to have been involved in many secret operations, some in cooperation with the CIA.
Read the entire story on my favorite mob page: Gangsters Inc.
Carlos Marcello, also known as The Godfather and "The Little Man" (February 6, 1910 – March 2, 1993), was a powerful Italian-American mafioso who ruled the New Orleans crime family from 1947 until the late 1980s. G. Robert Blakey and other conspiracy theorists have asserted that Marcello along with Santo Trafficante, Jr. and Sam Giancana masterminded the 1963 assassination of United States President John F. Kennedy in retaliation for federal prosecution that threatened their secret criminal organization's increasingly profitable businesses and their multibillion-dollar international organized crime empires. MUSIC 101: WHY TAKE THE BEST ONLINE GUITAR LESSONS?
Everyone has an affinity for music. Don’t you agree? It’s the one thing people from all over the world have in common. You can be tone deaf but still know how to appreciate good tunes. You can be the worst singer ever but a highly skilled bass player. No matter who, what, when, or where, people always find themselves drawn to music one way or another – they really do!
And I think it’s beautiful.
Since we’re on the topic, let’s talk about how music has evolved greatly over the years. It has gone a long way and it will definitely go farther. We’re sure about that. We have seen many music fads and trends come and go. From blues, jazz, reggae to the more modern beats we have today such as pop, punk-rock, and EDM. Music is definitely here to stay and make people happier every day. Online Guitar Lessons
Music Yesterday, Music Today – A Comparison
Music has always been beautiful – no matter the day, no matter the season. It has this way of making a connection. It helps a person get in touch with his or her soul; helps him or her build a bond with others. Music, just like everything else, isn’t constant. As they say, it is only change that is constant in this world. So music, too, changes over time.
But how much of a change are we talking about?
We’re talking about a rather drastic one. Allow me to tell you why.
When we talk about music and things that create music, you would probably think of stringed or percussion instruments and large pianos or a person singing do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do.
After all, we were introduced to music this way. We were taught notes, frets, and rests in our music subjects. We were taught the number of beats a whole note and a half note have. I’ll bet five bucks you even had those clapping exercises; those one-ones and two-twos.
Nowadays, however, music isn’t as simple. There have been changes, improvements maybe. And people now have more means to produce sounds other than instruments. Let’s take up a few examples in order to understand these “changes” better:
Before, band practice required a lot of work. If you’re renting out a studio, setting up instruments can take 20 minutes or so – and that still does not include tuning and other band prepping rituals. Nowadays, people can do a complete band setup for half the time (and effort) required to do a setup before. Band equipment like amplifiers and mixers are much smaller than they used to.
They’re also much simpler to operate. A few clicks here, a few turns there and presto! You can go live right then and there. Instruments have also become smaller and more portable.
Drums, for instance, which is supposedly the most difficult and complicated instrument to carry around and set up, have electronic versions. That’s right. The younglings of today will never know the hassles of setting up drum sets thanks to electronic drums. If you’ve ever played BeatMania in an arcade before, then you’ve experienced exactly how it feels to play on electronic drums.
Another important innovation is EDM or Electronic Dance Music (check this out). You can pass yourself off as a musician without knowing the first thing about instruments these days. All you need to know is how to work a laptop and a music mixing software and you can call yourself a certified DJ. In fact, most pop songs released in recent years have integrated EDM into their track. It really makes you wonder if classic instruments are nearing their extinction.
But of course, that is something we hope never happens.
Classic instruments are timeless and we should always keep it that way – no matter how advanced, modern, or innovative we get. They are a part – a large and important part of music history. Instruments made the world happy when computers weren’t around. They brought people together when social media still wasn’t a thing. Overall, they made the world a happier place to live in.
Now, who wants that kind of thing to end?
What we should do is make sure that classic instruments remain alive in the hearts and minds of people. Real people deserve real music. Not to mention, it is way more fulfilling to learn an actual instrument over remixing electronic notes. When you learn to play an instrument, you teach yourself a number of good things other than just playing.
You learn discipline.
You learn perseverance.
You learn that hard work always pays off.
There is a lot more to being a musician than just knowing how to play. Learning an instrument teaches you that.
But hey, technology isn’t all that bad. In fact, you can always make it work to your benefit. You can learn how to play a real-life guitar, for example, with the help of the internet.
There are many music schools and training centers like Best Online Guitar Lessons Wizard that offer to teach you how to play instruments online. They often make use of video sharing applications to converse and educate eager learners.
And because they are only using an online classroom (that requires no rent), you can enjoy cheaper training fees. Get the chance to be taught by some of the best musicians all over the world when you try online guitar lessons.
It is important to note, however, that not all online music schools are great. Many, in fact, are pretty mediocre so always make sure to check online recommendations and reviews before you pick out an online school!

THE MAGICIAN: GREAT POTENTIAL
The Magician »
This is a day when you can achieve whatever you want, provided you have the determination and self-belief to make it happen.
There is great potential for you here, either at work, with a financial prospect, or concerning a relationship. Harness that inner power and you will find the charm, wit and possibly sheer cheek to achieve the outcome you want.
If you lack self-confidence or are indecisive, you risk letting today's opportunities slip by.
Take care if you have any dealings today with a man who you feel unsure about. If you doubt his trustworthiness and sense a devious nature or hidden agenda, you may well be right!
