“My turn.”

Those two words — which closed the Season 5 finale of “House of Cards” — could not have been more prophetic.

When the Netflix political potboiler returns for its sixth and final season on Nov. 2, Robin Wright’s first-lady-turned-commander-in-chief Claire Underwood will be in the seat of power.

The character was always slated to move into the Oval Office, but with the hasty exit of star Kevin Spacey amid sexual harassment allegations, the transition was cemented.

Production was already underway when BuzzFeed published an interview on Oct. 29, 2017, with Anthony Rapp, detailing sexual abuse at the hands of Spacey when Rapp was just 14.

The #MeToo firestorm, which had sparked a few weeks earlier with accusations against Harvey Weinstein, soon engulfed Spacey, as multiple allegations of similar behavior came to light. Netflix and MRC, the studio that produces “House of Cards,” quickly shut down production; on Nov. 3, the actor was fired.

The revelations and the lightning-speed fallout left cast and crew reeling. “We were all very shocked and surprised,” says Wright. “And then sad.”

KEVIN SPACEY BEING INVESTIGATED IN LA AND SCOTLAND YARD

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing a sexual assault case against Kevin Spacey, Variety has confirmed.

The case was completed and presented by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on April 5.

According to the Sheriff’s Dept., the incident — involving an adult male — allegedly took place in October of 1992 in West Hollywood. The Special Victims Bureau began investigating the allegation on Dec. 11.

The former “House of Cards” star has been accused of sexual misconduct by numerous men in the U.S. and in England. Scotland Yard is investigating at least three sexual assault complaints against the Oscar winner.

“Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp was the first accuser to go public with his story. Rapp alleged in October that Spacey made a pass at him when he was 14 years old during a party at Spacey’s New York apartment in 1986. Spacey was 26 at the time.

Not much is known about the plot of season five, but it is likely to follow on from Frank's declaration of all-out war on terror group ICO.

Season four ended with Frank promising to "make the terror" in a sadistic attempt to draw attention away from a scandal which was about to engulf the Underwood-Underwood election camapign.

It has been rumoured that Donald Trump will have an influence on Frank's story line. Many fans noted similarities between Frank's chaotic campaign in season four and Trump's own unconventional election.

Many have also speculated that Frank could die at the end of season five. The President’s life hung in the balance in the last run of episodes after he was shot by crazed journalist Lucas Goodwin.

It is thought that he could finally succumb to health problems caused by his wounds, or else be murdered by Claire.

One of the very best features of "House of Cards" is that the women characters are smart and not so whiny as the women in Breaking Bad and Dexter.  I cannot watch Scandal at all...men writing dialog for women is really 2 dimensional.

Not so with Claire...Robin Wright is going to win all the awards for 2014, for her unflinching portrayal of the brilliant Mrs. Vice President Claire Underwood.....
