GROVER WASHINGTON JR HAS A NEW RELEASE

Audio Fidelity To Release Jazz Legend Grover Washington, Jr.'s Double-Grammy Award Winning Album “Winelight” on 5.1 Hybrid SACD

“Among the most beautiful jazz albums ever made.. from one of the smooth jazz pioneers!”

Camarillo, CA – Jazz aficionados and high end audio enthusiasts alike are excited about the forthcoming release of jazz legend Grover Washington, Jr.'s “Winelight” album on 5.1 Hybrid SACD from Audio Fidelity in association with ETrain Records. With “Winelight”, Grover Washington, Jr. produced a magical collection of jazz and soul with a touch of pop. He set the standard for the smooth jazz genre - the band is tight, the solos terrific and the arrangements understated and tasteful. The 1980 double-Grammy award winning album was Washington's most successful album and remains one of the smooth jazz masterpieces.

Top to bottom “Winelight” is superb, masterfully recorded and perhaps best-known for the hit “Just the Two of Us” sung by Bill Withers, but it is the five instrumental tracks that find Grover Washington, Jr. (on soprano, alto, and tenor) really stretching out. He was joined by percussionist (and producer) Ralph MacDonald and also the incomparable Steve Gadd (drums) and Eric Gale (guitar).

Grover Washington, Jr., had long been one of the leaders in what could be called rhythm & jazz, essentially R&B-influenced jazz. The music world lost a great musician when the late Grover Washington Jr. passed away in 1999. Fortunately, he left so many classic albums to cherish and “Winelight” is one of those time-honored works that must be included in any worthy music collection.

Tracks:
Winelight
Let It Flow (For “Dr. J”)
In the Name of Love
Take Me There
Just the Two of Us
Make Me a Memory (Sad Samba)

Album and Surround Sound Remix Produced by Ralph MacDonald
Surround Sound Remix Engineered & Mixed by Elliot Scheiner
Stereo mix mastered for this release by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio

Al Profit Bradley is part of a new documentary premiering this week....story from THE FREEP today.

One of the great mysteries of the 20th century is explored in "Killing Jimmy Hoffa," a documentary screening today through Thursday at Emagine Royal Oak.

The movie focuses on the possible fate of the controversial labor legend, who disappeared in 1975 from the parking lot of the old Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Hills.

The movie is a collaboration between Alan Bradley, a.k.a. Al Profit, a local filmmaker known for crime-themed documentaries, and Scott Burnstein, an Oakland Press reporter and author of several books about the Detroit Mafia.

Using photos, film clips and interviews with experts on the case ranging from journalists (including former Detroit Free Press writer David Ashenfelter) to former FBI agents, the documentary explores the most likely theories on what specifically happened to Hoffa. READ FULL STORY HERE

THE SHAMS NEW RELEASE! ONE AND ALL

San Francisco Based Popular Irish-influenced Rock Band The Shams Release Their New “One and All” EP

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco based band The Shams are releasing their highly anticipated EP “One and All” on February 24th, 2015. This multifaceted, Irish-influenced rock band showcases their strong and original song writing skills, and the lads are touring across the West Coast to promote their explosive EP. They began by hosting an intimate CD release party with family, friends, and fans at the iconic Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on January 16th, followed by a second release party at Neck of The Woods on Valentine’s Day with well-known Boston reggae band Spiritual Rez, and a headlining performance at The Great American Music Hall on Friday March 13th.

The EP, produced by John Cesario (who has worked with big acts such as Fleetwood Mac and Eddie Money, and is the creator of Rocket Songs) and engineered by Chris Cortez (Nice N Up Studios), has a raw and unique feel to it – yet while it is influenced by their Irish roots, their eclectic songs put them into a new genre of their own creation and appeals to music lovers of all ages.

The Shams have been featured at local music hotspots such as The Milk Bar, Bottom of the Hill, and Neck of the Woods in San Francisco, as well as 19 Broadway in Fairfax, The Starry Plough in Berkeley and legendary L.A. favorites Molly Malone’s and The House of Blues. They have played with national acts such as The Stone Foxes and Dig The Kid, and played with world-renowned Irish musician Damien Dempsey.

Whether it was a stroke of luck or pure genius, The Shams formed in 2011 when musician and guitarist Joey Kennedy (Kilkenny, Ireland) reached out to his friend and fellow Irishman Sean Daly (Donegal, Ireland) to join musical forces as the front man for their new project. Daly quickly brought in James Scragg (Cork, Ireland), an old friend and accomplished drummer. Shortly after, talented Irish-American Tommy O`Mahony joined the band with his funky bass. The final member to join was Northern California native Henry Moser, whose expertise on the electric guitar rounds out the group’s explosive and distinctive sound.

The Shams are quickly becoming a fan-favorite by combining their hard rocking, punked-up beat and raw, powerful vocals. Their repertoire of original songs reach deep down into their rebel roots and pulls out incredibly original tracks that illuminate what it means to be Irish. They provide listeners with a new, hard-hitting perspective on the evolution of Irish music, unlike any you’ve heard before. With each fiery live performance, The Shams are leaving listeners begging for more.
