Johnny Dio was notorious for his control of the Meat Packing and Garment Center unions. Dio ordered the blinding (lye in the face) of news reporter Victor Reisel, because Reisel was exposing Dio's criminal activities. Totally blind, Reisel continued his pressure on Dio. Dio was eventually convicted of labor racketeering, and he died in prison. Reisel died in his own bed.

BB KING THE KING OF THE BLUES LEGEND HAS DIED

(CNN) Riley B. King, the legendary guitarist known as B.B. King, whose velvety voice and staccato-picking style brought blues from the margins to the mainstream, died Thursday night.

He was 89.

His daughter, Patty King, said he died in Las Vegas, where he announced two weeks ago that he was in home hospice care after suffering from dehydration.

The Mississippi native's reign as "king of the blues" lasted more than six decades and straddled two centuries, influencing a generation of rock and blues musicians, from Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, to Sheryl Crow and John Mayer.

The BBC made a great documentary THE LIFE OF RILEY...watch it below...

GHOST NEXT DOOR! NEW RELEASE

US alternative metallers THE GHOST NEXT DOOR, hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, will release their self-titled debut album on June 19th via Mausoleum Records.THE GHOST NEXT DOOR emerged from a desire to marry the dark melancholy of 80s and 90s alternative with the aggression and drive of Bay Area metal.

A founding member of Sacrilege BC and Release, guitarist/vocalist Gary Wendt grew up in the Bay Area. While with Skinlab, he recorded their debut album and toured across Europe with Machine Head and Exodus. Now Gary continues his journey through THE GHOST NEXT DOOR. Combining influences ranging from Rock to Thrash, Progressive Metal to Sad-core, result in a unique riff-driven Rock & Roll.

Track listing:

1. Forever My Demon
2. Crickets
3. All Fall Down
4. Ten Steps Back
5. Dead Things
6. Bully
7. Eleven O’Clock Blues
8. Fragile
9. Famous Last Words

Gary Wendt recently performed with Robb Flynn, Craig Locicero, Slayer and Exodus guitar god Gary Holt, and Death Angel‘s Will Carroll. He was one of the featured artists in the Rob Flynn and Friends benefit concert in 2014, which included bay area metal’s best: members of Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, and the mighty Machine Head.

THE GHOST NEXT DOOR are:

Gary Wendt – Guitars,Vocals
Aaron Asghari – Guitars
Seanan Gridley – Bass
Paula Sisson – Drums

When Gary Wendt discovered he was actually living next to a supposed haunted house he named his new band THE GHOST NEXT DOOR. Gary met Seanan Gridley andSean Haeberman, on bass and drums respectively, after the two friends transplanted themselves in Berkeley from central California. Sean and Seanan left their hometown to experience the storied Bay Area music scene firsthand. Gary grew up in that scene, with bands like Fang playing literally in his back yard and taking lessons from Joe Satriani.

Performing around California for a few years, developing their musical chemistry they played a few opening slots at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco, but they never found their niche and disbanded. Gary persisted and decided to finish work on a recording already in progress. He bought all the requisite equipment, learned how to use ProTools and with the help of some friends, most notably Steve “Snake” Green (Skrew/Skinlab), he recorded and mixed THE GHOST NEXT DOOR‘s debut album.

With the record in the can, Gary set out to reform the band with his go-to bassist, Seanan and two other transplants, guitarist Aaron Asghari from Sacramento and drummerPaula Sisson from Remagen, Germany. The band has been tirelessly gigging, sharing the stage with celebrated, as well as up and coming acts: DRI and Dr. Know,SpiralArms featuring Forbidden‘s Craig Locicero, and Comes with the Fall featuring Alice in Chains‘ William DuVall. Live, they come together to show what manifests from an undeniable compulsion to create and perform their expressive take on modern metal.
