A VERY WICKED HALLOWEEN TV SPECIAL ON NBC OCT 29

The TV special, celebrating 15 years of the musical phenomenon, will also feature performances by Ariana Grande and Pentatonix.

Original Wicked stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth will reunite to host and perform during NBC's A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway. The special event will air October 29 (the eve of the musical juggernaut's anniversary) at 10 PM.

Performing alongside the pair of Tony winners will be pop star and Broadway alum Ariana Grande (a noted Wicked superfan), the a cappella group Pentatonix, the current Broadway cast of the musical (led by Jessica Vosk and Amanda Jane Cooper), and more to be announced.

A Very Wicked Halloween will be taped at the Marquis Theatre with a live audience. Wicked producer Marc Platt will produce the show with Glenn Weiss (who also directs) and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment.

The musical, featuring a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, opened at the Gershwin Theatre in 2003 and has gone on to play over 100 cities in 14 countries. The producing team includes Platt, David Stone, and NBC sister organization Universal Stage Productions.  Read More on Playbill

HAIR TO BE NEXT LIVE MUSICAL ON NBC

VARIETY: “Hair” will be NBC’s next live musical, the broadcaster announced Thursday.

The announcement comes on the heels of the critically-acclaimed NBC live staging of “Jesus Christ Superstar” on Easter Sunday. “Hair Live” is currently slated to air in spring 2019. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who have executive produced each of NBC’s live musicals since “The Sound of Music,” will executive produce the telecast.

“Hair” tells the story of a group of politically active hippies living a bohemian life in New York while fighting against and resisting the Vietnam War. Claude, his good friends Berger and Sheila, and their “tribe” are coming of age in the world of the sexual revolution while struggling with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society. Claude must decide whether to resist the draft as his friends have done, or succumb to the pressures of conservative America to serve in Vietnam, compromising his principles and beliefs.  Read More

ELVIS PRESLEY'S COMEBACK SPECIAL JUNE 27 1968!

There was quite a bit more than just 12 years and a few extra pounds separating the Elvis Presley of 1968 from the Elvis that set the world on fire in 1956. With a nearly decade-long string of forgettable movies and inconsistent recordings behind him, Elvis had drifted so far from his glorious, youthful incarnation that he’d turned himself into a historical artifact without any help from the Beatles, Bob Dylan or the Stones.

And then something amazing happened: A television special for NBC that Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker envisioned as an Andy Williams-like sequence of Christmas carol performances instead became a thrilling turning point in Elvis’s legendary career. Elvis began taping his legendary “Comeback Special” on this day in 1968.

Much of the credit for the Comeback Special goes to the young director NBC turned to on the project. Only 26 years old but with a strong background in televised music, Steve Binder had the skills and creativity to put together a more interesting program than the one originally planned, but he’d also had the youthful confidence to tell Elvis that a successful show was an absolute necessity if he wanted to regain his relevance.

“Basically, I told him I thought his career was in the toilet,” Binder recalled in an interview almost four decades later. From the beginning, Elvis embraced almost every suggestion Binder made, including what would turn out to be the best one, which came after Binder watched Elvis jamming with his friends and fellow musicians in his dressing room one night after rehearsals.

“Wait a minute, this is history,” Binder recalls thinking. “I want to film this.” Binder sold Elvis on the idea that would become the most memorable segment of the show: an informal, “unplugged” session before a live audience. Read More Here

NEW EBOOK/AUDIOBOOK EXPANDS THE UNIVERSE OF HEROES & HEROES REBORN!

OFFICIAL TIE-IN EBOOK, AUDIO BOOK SERIES EXPANDS UNIVERSE OF NBC HIT SHOW HEROES and NEW EVENT SERIES HEROES REBORN

Filling in gaps between the wildly popular NBC series Heroes and the highly anticipated event series Heroes Reborn (Premiering September 24), German publisher Bastei Lübbe AG, in a joint multi-platform venture with Imperative Entertainment, is releasing the first in a series of official tie-in eBooks and audiobooks, Heroes Reborn Event Series - Book 1: Brave New World, on September 25, 2015.

The first of six thrillers, initially published as eBooks and audiobooks with an anthologized print edition to follow, Brave New World addresses many previously unanswered questions, offers new information about characters, and treats readers to a deeper examination of the Heroes universe.

Brave New World is written by former 2000AD and Judge Dredd Magazine editor David Bishop, a prolific, award-winning science fiction writer.

Based on original drafts from the first episode of Heroes Reborn, Brave New World is set one year after the events of the Odessa Summit and reveals a Heroes universe radically different from the world fans of the original series once knew. The evolved humans - or 'Evos' - are held responsible for the events at the Summit and forced to either go into hiding, or fight back.

Brave New World follows familiar characters, such as Noah Bennett and the Haitian, as well as a variety of new personalities introduced in Heroes Reborn.

The Heroes Reborn eBooks and audiobooks are the first books officially connected to the hit NBC show. Penned by different bestselling authors—including New York Times-bestselling author Timothy Zahn and multi-million bestselling novelist Kevin J. Anderson—the stories extend and expand the Heroes universe for both longtime and new fans alike.

NBC’s Heroes Reborn premieres Thursday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. ET. To celebrate this event, Heroes Reborn – Book 1: Brave New World will be made available as an exclusive, limited free eBook download on Amazon for one day only, September 25, 2015.
