TODD RUNDGREN TO HEADLINE CLEOPATRA SXSW SHOWCASE

Rock Legend TODD RUNDGREN Headlines Cleopatra Records First Ever SXSW Showcase!

Los Angeles, CA - One of the few remaining truly independent, privately owned record labels in existence today, L.A.-based Cleopatra Records has been championing underground music and outsider artists since its inception in 1992. Now, the label has teamed up with the biggest music festival dedicated to discovering and promoting new talent, SXSW, to announce the first ever official Cleopatra Records showcase. Headlining this special event is legendary songwriter/producer/guitarist, Todd Rundgren, an artist well known for pushing the boundaries of rock and pop with his distinctive flair for the eccentric and unusual. Todd’s newest album, White Knight, was released by Cleopatra Records in May of last year and features guest performances by Trent Reznor, Robyn, Joe Satriani & more.

In addition to Rundgren, the showcase will also bring together some of the label’s newest acts including dreamwave artist Pastel Ghost, whose first album Abyss has been reissued by Cleopatra and will also see their forthcoming album released later this year on the label. Alternative metal cabaret act from Mexico, Descartes A Kant, partnered with Cleopatra for their newest album Victims Of Love Propaganda in May of last year while L.A.’s own death rock architects, Egrets On Ergot, released Surfeit Of Germütlich last October. Electronic duo United Ghosts will issue their Cleopatra debut later this year while local Texas band Nite, consisting of twin brothers Kyle and Myles Mendez, saw their newest release Reborn launched in July of 2016. Each of these bands demonstrates the label’s fondness for uniquely creative acts and a commitment to supporting truly artist-driven music.

The official SXSW showcase for Cleopatra Records will be held at Elysium in downtown Austin, TX on March 15th. The first band will start at 8pm.

RECORD STORE DAY IN DETROIT 2015!!

I spent all my money on vinyl records as a kid and I love seeing LPs are hot again....I began at age 10 using babysitting money to buy my first LP which was Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.. Buying records in Ann Arbor was initially done at Discount Records where Iggy Pop used to work. Then it became in vogue to go to Schoolkids records which was very close to the Michigan Theater.

My friends and I spent hours and hours going through the racks of LPs....a different time than today. Today I am song specific. I want a song and buy it. Record Store Day supports the independent store owners and we are all about helping local business. So plz go buy some vinyl today from your corner record shop!

.So in honor of today we will give you a bit on info on Record Day....

HISTORY

Record Store Day is an annual event, founded in 2007, held on the third Saturday of April each year to to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store. The day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores across the world. A number of records are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, and are only distributed to shops participating in the scheme.

BIGGEST DINOSAUR EVER TO WALK THE EARTH HAS BEEN DISCOVERED!

Even by dinosaur standards, a new one unearthed in Argentina is big. In fact, the paleontologists who found it say it’s the biggest ever found and thus the biggest creature ever to have walked the earth, reports the BBC.

Let us count the ways: Based on its ginormous thigh bones, they estimate that it was 65 feet tall, 130 feet long, and weighed about 85 tons, reports the Telegraph. That would make it about 8 tons heavier than the previous No. 1, Argentinosaurus, though at least one expert cautions that a lot of guesswork goes into such claims.

“It’s like two trucks with a trailer each, one in front of the other, and the weight of 14 elephants together,” says the lead Argentinian paleontologist on the dig, as quoted in the Guardian. “This is a real paleontological treasure.”
