Prog Legends Nektar Return With Stunning New Studio Album “The Other Side”

The Stunning New Studio Album From Legendary Nektar - Released January 24, 2020, on Esoteric Antenna

Esoteric Antenna is delighted to announce the release of the stunning new studio album by the legendary band Nektar. Throughout the 1970s Nektar released a series of acclaimed albums, scoring chart success in Germany (where the British band was based) and later in the USA (where the band relocated).

Following the passing of original guitarist/vocalist Roye Albrighton in 2016, fellow founder members Derek “Mo” Moore (bass, vocals), Ron Howden (drums, vocals) & Mick Brockett (lyrics, visual conceptions) reunited along with Randy Dembo (bass, 12-string guitar), Ryche Chlanda (guitar, vocals) & Kendall Scott (keyboards) to begin work on a new album.

Ryche Chlanda originally recorded with Nektar in 1978, and for “The Other Side” the band updated some of those ideas which evolved in the basement of Mo Moore’s house in Chatham, New Jersey. Ron Howden, Mo, and Ryche collaborated on much of the music heard on the album. The 1978 unrecorded song “Skypilot” has evolved into “Skywriter” in 2020. With new lyrics by Mick, Mo, and Ryche

“I’m On Fire” is the musical adaptation of a poem written by Mo for his soon-to-be wife, Nicki, during that same time period of 1978. The closing track, “Devil’s Door”, was originally performed live in 1974, but never featured on a Nektar album. Updated and recorded for this album, the song features the presence of the late Roye Albrighton on the introduction to the track, whose wonderful guitar part was taken from a live soundboard recording made in 1974.

Kendall Scott’s distinctive & versatile keyboard presence has enhanced this considerably, whilst Randy Dembo, who originally joined Nektar in 2004, brings a uniting presence on 12-string and bass guitars, rounding out the instrumental arrangements. Ron Howden has been a continual driving force of the band, weathering all versions of Nektar since its conception in 1969. With Mick Brockett now back in the fold (with his visual concepts and ideas as an essential part of the band making the music and light theatre a reality). “The Other Side” is a stunning album from a legendary band.

THREE TIMELESS ROCK STARS

Some music is brilliant enough to pass the test of time and stay with us for the entirety of our lives. The icons that create these connections are few and far between, but the demand that there are for these stars remains, and that means that they continue to tour regardless of age.

These stars will continue traveling to see their fans until the day that they physically can't do it anymore, and that connection between listener and artist is something that isn't as significant as it once was. But, which megastars are still defying their age and entertaining millions around the world?

Sir Rod Stewart
Stewart embarked on his first tour in 1977, and he is currently midway through his 30th. The 74-year-old has sold over 100 million albums and 200 million singles throughout his career which sees him place among the best-selling music artists of all-time. During his career, he has had six consecutive number one albums in the United Kingdom, as well as registered 62 hit singles.

In 1994 he staged the largest free rock concert when he performed for 3.5 million fans in Rio de Janeiro. In the very same year, he was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the first time before he was later inducted again in 2012 as a member of the Faces. As well as touring as part of his Red Blood Roses Tour, he has also famously held a residency in Las Vegas for six years between 2011 and 2017. Punters would be able to play their favorite Novibet casino games at Caesars Palace before listening to his classic hits such as 'Maggie May', 'The First Cut is the Deepest' and 'Infatuation'.

The Rolling Stones
The super-group fronted by Sir Mick Jagger has been on the music scene since 1962, and they are currently doing dates on their 48th tour. During these events; four of them have gone onto become the highest-grossing tours of all-time, with their 'Bigger Bang' tour generating over $558,255,525.

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, before being inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. The Rolling Stone magazine ranks them at fourth in their list of the '100 Greatest Artists of All-Time'; with only The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan ranked ahead of them. They have sold over 250 million records worldwide and have released 30 studio albums and 23 live albums.

Ozzy Osbourne
Birmingham born, Ozzy Osbourne rose to fame in the 1970s as the lead vocalist for Black Sabbath; where he was given the nickname of 'The Price of Darkness'. However, following substance and alcohol problems he was fired from the band in 1979, but he went onto enjoy success as a solo performer.

During these solo years, he released eleven studio albums; with the first seven of those awarded multi-platinum in the US.
He rejoined the band in 1997 and helped record the group's final studio album which was released in 2013. They embarked on a final farewell tour which concluded in a gig in their home city of Birmingham in 2017. His success and lengthy career have given him the title 'Godfather of Heavy Metal'.

DAVID NAIL AND THE WELL RAVENS NEW RELEASE!

David Nail and The Well Ravens
Release Rock-Tinged New Song
"Come Back Around"

Debut Album
Only This And Nothing More
Out On September 14th

Chart-topping songwriter and Grammy-nominated artist David Nail has spent the last decade leaving his unique mark on modern country music. Now he begins a new chapter with his collective new project called David Nail and The Well Ravens who's debut album Only This and Nothing More will release on September 14th via One Five Sound.

The project is Nail's first independent release and finds the charismatic singer reaching a new creative peak with a record that matches his adept melodic chops - as heard on #1 hits like "Whatever She's Got" and "Let It Rain" - with atmospheric rock & roll guitars, lush keyboards, drum loops, and rule-breaking arrangements. Today he released his "rock-tinged" new song "Come Back Around" which debuted on People Magazine.

Listen to "Come Back Around" HERE
Stream via Spotify and Apple Music

"'Come Back Around' was one of the songs we started, and then sorta felt like we had established a consistency to what we were doing from session to session," David told People. "We ended up more or less rebuilding it from the ground up months later, but initially, I think we all knew the melody was pretty solid, and the potential was endless."

Only This and Nothing More straddles the boundary between country storytelling, indie rock instrumentation, and southern twang. Nail and The Well Ravens has allowed David to expand his sound inspired not only by his country roots, but also the reverb-heavy wash of Ryan Adams, the rhythmic punch of the Black Keys, and the anthemic swell of Kings of Leon. Billed not as a solo album, but as a collaboration, he enlisted help from two longtime partners; multi-instrumentalist Andrew Petroff and producer Jason Hall.

Track List:
01) The Gun
02) Come Back Around
03) White Trash Girl
04) Cheating On Me
05) Over
06) Heavy
07) In My Head

Of the project, Billboard recently stated "David Nail - who is known as one of the more distinctive talents in Music City today - returns with one of his most musically adventurous projects yet."

Watch the video for lead single "Heavy" HERE.

Earlier this month, David released "In My Head" and spoke with Taste of Country about the song's poignant and honest origin.

Over the course of three different recording sessions, Nail, Petroff, and Hall created tracks like "Cheatin' on Me," a waltzing ballad that's retro and modern; "Over," a gritty nod to the British Invasion bands of the 1990's; "Heavy," which updates the sounds of the '80's pop/rock for the current decade; and "The Gun," the album's most haunting number, rooted in a fictional story about family violence.

The result is Nail's boldest work to date which Rolling Stone Country described as "atmospheric rock sounds that wouldn't be out of place on a late-Nineties Oasis album." With one foot planted in the organic sound of his country past and the other pointing toward newer territory, he shows off the full range of his abilities. He's a country crooner one moment, an indie rocker the next, and a diversely compelling frontman throughout. Most importantly, he's an artist following his muse, making music without rules or regulations.
