SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION DEBUTED SEPT 23 1994

One of my very favorite films of all time...Teaching lessons of patience and determination the film has lots of surprises and plot twists. Morgan Freeman should have had the Oscar that year instead of Tom Hanks for Forrest Gump in my opinion...

Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins as Red and Andy

On this day in 1994, The Shawshank Redemption, starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, opens in theaters around the United States. Based on a Stephen King short story titled “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption.”

The movie followed the story of a man named Andy Dufresne (Robbins) who is sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife and her lover. Behind bars, Andy forms a friendship with Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding (Freeman), a longtime inmate known for his ability to “get things,” or smuggle contraband into the prison. The Shawshank Redemption was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Actor (Freeman) and Best Picture (it lost to Forrest Gump).

Frank Darabont, who wrote and directed The Shawshank Redemption, also helmed The Green Mile (1999) and The Mist (2007), both of which were based on books by King.

THE GREEN MILE: MAKING OF THE FILM CLASSIC

One of my very favorite films of all time is THE GREEN MILE. From a Stephen King short story, this movie runs the gamut on emotions. We are afraid, revolted, sad, hysterical laughter, in love and beyond. this movie never gets old for me, I always find something new each time I view it... here is what it is about if you have never seen it..or just love it over and over like me...xoK

The lives of guards on Death Row are affected by one of their charges: a black man accused of child murder and rape, yet who has a mysterious gift.

Stephen King Visits The Green Mile Set

The film stars Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb and Michael Clarke Duncan as John Coffey, with supporting roles by David Morse, Bonnie Hunt, and James Cromwell. The film also features Dabbs Greer in his final film, as the older Paul Edgecomb.

The film, told in a flashback format, tells the story of Paul's life as a death row corrections officer during the U.S. Great Depression, and the supernatural events he witnessed.

Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) walked the mile with a variety of cons. He had never encountered someone like John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a massive black man convicted of brutally killing a pair of young sisters. Coffey had the size and strength to kill anyone, but not the demeanor.

AMC GREENLIGHTS JOE HILL NOVEL NOS4A2 FOR SERIES

AMC has officially ordered the supernatural horror drama “NOS4A2” to series.

The show, based on the novel of the same name by Joe Hill, follows Vic McQueen, a young, working class artist who discovers she has a supernatural ability to track the seemingly immortal Charlie Manx. Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland, a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic must strive to defeat Manx and rescue his victims without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

It is currently slated to premiere on AMC in 2019 with a 10-episode first season. Hill will serve as an executive producer. Jami O’Brien, who previously worked on AMC shows “Fear the Walking Dead” and “Hell on Wheels,” created the show for television and will serve as showrunner.

Lauren Corrao, co-president of Michael Eisner’s Tornante Television, will also executive produce. The series is produced by AMC Studios in association with Tornante Television. The show will be distributed internationally by AMC Studios.

SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION PREMIERED SEPT 23, 1994

One of my favorite films off all time premiered today in 1994. This film really launched the careers of stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. It seems that just about everyone I know can quote dialogue from this movie...It is one of the great films made from a Stephen King story.... It was directed by Hungarian Frank Darabont.

On this day in 1994, The Shawshank Redemption, starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, opens in theaters around the United States. Based on a short story titled “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption,” by the best-selling author Stephen King, the movie followed the story of a man named Andy Dufresne (Robbins) who is sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife and her lover.

Behind bars, Andy forms a friendship with Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding (Freeman), a longtime inmate known for his ability to “get things,” or smuggle contraband into the prison.
