FAYGO POP THE SOFT DRINK OF DETROIT!

Cousins Morton Feigenson and Phillip Feigenson head up the Faygo Beverage Company in 1967 (Photo: Tony Spina/Detroit Free Press)

Faygo Beverages, Inc., is a soft drink company headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. The beverages produced by the company, branded as Faygo or Faygo Pop, are distributed in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Central Southern regions of the United States, as well as southern Canada.

Faygo is imported in Europe by American Fizz, an official distributor of Faygo. Faygo Beverages, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Beverage Corporation, started in Detroit, Michigan, in 1907 as Feigenson Brothers Bottling Works.

Looking for a way to supplement their income, the brothers began adding cake frosting flavorings to the soda water and sold their beverages from the back of their wagon. The original flavors of their soda were fruit punch, grape, and strawberry.

They charged three cents for one bottle and five cents for two bottles. The brothers bought their first delivery truck in 1922 and started home deliveries the following year. They also introduced a low-calorie version in the 1960s called Ohana. In the 1980s, they introduced flavored carbonated water.

BOBLO BOAT COMMERCIAL

However, the boat commercial was not filmed on a Detroit River boat as some may think, but on a boat named Fiesta in Acapulco, Mexico. The company wanted the commercial ready for summer 1973, so the choice to head south was merely a weather-related call. Read More

In the 1920s as the company expanded, they thought the brand name "Feigenson Brothers" was too long and changed it to Faygo. The brothers ran the company until the mid-1960s when they turned it over to their sons and cousins.

In 1969, the company created a series of radio and television advertisements featuring a fictional cowboy called the Faygo Kid, who was portrayed in animation for television commercials for Faygo Old-Fashioned Root Beer.[

THE RADIANT ART OF STAINED GLASS

The term stained glass derives from the silver stain that was often applied to the side of the window that would face the outside of the building. ... Stained glass was usually used to make windows, so that the light would shine through the painting.

Evidence of stained glass windows in churches and monasteries in Britain can be found as early as the 7th century. The earliest known reference dates from 675 AD when Benedict Biscop imported workmen from France to glaze the windows of the monastery of St Peter which he was building at Monkwearmouth.

As a material stained glass is glass that has been coloured by adding metallic salts during its manufacture. The coloured glass is crafted into stained glass windows in which small pieces of glass are arranged to form patterns or pictures, held together (traditionally) by strips of lead and supported by a rigid frame.

During medieval times, stained glass windows were made from a combination of sand and potash (wood ash). ... When put together like pieces of a puzzle, the whole window became stabilized by an iron frame. That's how stained glass windows were made during The Middle Ages.

Stained Glass Windows. ... From pointed arches to rib vaults to flying buttresses, all of these techniques allowed Gothic architecture to replace the thick, dark walls of Romanesque cathedrals with thin, towering walls of colored glass. These stained glass windows were the multimedia stories of their day.

Although traditionally made in flat panels and used as windows, the creations of modern stained glass artists also include three-dimensional structures and sculpture.

Medieval stained glass is the coloured and painted glass of medieval Europe from the 10th century to the 16th century. ... The purpose of stained glass windows in a church was both to enhance the beauty of their setting and to inform the viewer through narrative or symbolism.

Stained glass can refer to coloured glass as a material or to works created from it. Throughout its thousand-year history, the term has been applied almost exclusively to the windows of churches, mosques and other significant buildings.

Modern vernacular usage has often extended the term "stained glass" to include domestic leadlight and objets d'art created from came glasswork exemplified in the famous lamps of Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Stained glass, as an art and a craft, requires the artistic skill to conceive an appropriate and workable design, and the engineering skills to assemble the piece. A window must fit snugly into the space for which it is made, must resist wind and rain, and also, especially in the larger windows, must support its own weight.

WHAT ARE THE BASICS OF NUMEROLOGY?

What is Numerology?

Numerology is any belief in the divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It is kind of like astrology only using numbers instead of planetary alignments. Numerology Meanings

It is also the study of the numerical value of the letters in words, names and ideas. It is often associated with the paranormal, alongside astrology and similar divinatory arts.

Despite the long history of the use of numerological ideas, the word "numerology" is not recorded in English before 1907.

How to easily find Your Life Path Number

1. Begin with your full birth date. For example February 22, 1992
2. Reduce the month, day and year down to a single digit by adding them.

MONTH February is the 2nd month
Add 2 + 0 = 2
DAY:
The day of birth is 22
Add 2 + 2 = 4.
Keep adding to digit down to a one-digit number:1 + 0 = 1

YEAR: The year of birth is 1992

Add all four numbers together: 1+9=19+9=28 2+8=10
Continue adding until you get a one-digit number: In this case it is 1

The Séance Episode of I Love Lucy

Numerology is a popular plot device in fiction. Sometimes it is a casual element used for comic effect, such as in an episode titled "The Séance" of the 1950s TV sitcom I Love Lucy, where Lucy dabbles in numerology.

Sometimes it is a central motif of the storyline, such as the movie π, in which the protagonist meets a numerologist searching for hidden numerical patterns in the Torah; the TV show Touch which focuses almost entirely on the role of numerology in the events and coincidences of any person's life; and the movie The Number 23, based on claimed mysteries of the number 23 (itself based on the Law of Fives).

SOCK MONKEY: THE TRUE STORY!

I am still obsessed with Sock Monkeys! Have loved them my entire lifetime! Today we are featuring the history of this very cool doll which has never lost it's "coolness".

The iconic sock monkeys made from red-heeled socks, known today as the Rockford Red Heel, emerged at the earliest in 1932, the year the Nelson Knitting Company added the trademarked red heel to its product.

These socks were originally made by the Nelson Knitting Mills in Rockford, Illinois (hence the name) since 1890, and patented in 1915. When the company decided to include sock monkey instructions with every pair of the Red Heel® socks in the 1950's, the true marketing magic began.

 Vintage Sock Monkeys

John Nelson, a Swedish immigrant to the United States, patented the sock-knitting machine in 1868, and began knitting socks on an automatic machine in Rockford, Illinois as early as 1870. On September 15, 1880, the Nelson Knitting Company formed, producing "Celebrated Rockford Seamless Hosiery," and selling them under the name of the "Nelson Sock."

Nelson Knitting added the red heel "De-Tec-Tip" to assure it's customers that they were buying "original Rockford's" as opposed to the generic "Rockford's". This red heel gave the monkeys their distinctive mouth and during the Great Depression, American crafters first made sock monkeys out of worn-out Rockford Red Heel Socks.

In 1953, a woman named Helen Cooke received the patent for sock monkeys. She sued a man named Stanley Levy because he sold sock monkeys but they were not the same design as hers. Levy contacted the Nelson Knitting Company hoping that they would declare the patent invalid.

The company knew that people had been making dolls for the last two years, so they gathered up all the dolls that had been made the past two years so that they could have evidence proving that Helen Cooke should not have the patent.

Helen Cooke settled the case against Stanley Levy when she was shown all the evidence that had been collected against her. She decided to sell the patent to the Nelson Knitting Company for $750. The company also paid other women for the rights to the doll including a woman in Tennessee who was paid $1000. Rockford, Illinois became the "home of the sock monkey.

Homemade red-heel sock monkey dolls usually have unique faces and body characteristics and are considered one-of-a-kind. Sock monkey dolls are also mass-manufactured in the marketplace. Sock monkey dolls mass-manufactured by a company normally all have the same face and body characteristics.

Not all sock monkey dolls are created from red-heel socks. A 2015 trend started to create sock monkey dolls from colorful striped or polka dot socks—even mismatched socks.

The Schylling Sock Monkey Company makes them today and they are very nice. But the homemade ones will always be my favorites. The Schylling Co. makes all kinds of merchandise relating to the Sock Monkey.  Here is a very cute Sock Monkey Umbrella

Sock monkeys remain a popular icon and are popular with all ages. They now come in different styles, such as "birthday-themed", different colors, and even electronic ones that sing up-to-date pop songs. Most vintage red-heel sock monkeys found today are no older than the late 1950s, and many date from the 1970s. Read More on Wiki

WHY IS PETE ROSE STILL BANNED FROM THE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME?

Pete Rose, whose career with the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies holds many major league records, was banned from baseball for life for gambling on games.

It seems to me that the punishment Pete Rose has endured is more than unfair. Gambling or sports betting is common place these days and sports figures get away with much more than betting.

Was he involved in steroid abuse or tied up with organized crime as well? Why this extreme punishment for Pete?  netbet sports uk

Why are we able to ignore more  felonious criminal behavior in our athletic heroes and yet still keep Charlie Hustle still on the self...Just sayin....

Some writers didn't care that he gambled and were prepared to vote for him for what he did on the field. But the Hall of Fame changed the rules to punish him. When Giamatti banned Rose from baseball, he did not ban Rose from the Hall of Fame. Technically, the commissioner did not have the power to do that.

Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a letter sent to Rose and made public that baseball's hits king hasn't been completely honest about his gambling. The commissioner also noted that Rose continues to bet on baseball legally, even though his gambling got him into trouble, making it an "unacceptable risk" to let him back in the game.
