Everyone has an affinity for music. Don’t you agree? It’s the one thing people from all over the world have in common. You can be tone deaf but still know how to appreciate good tunes. You can be the worst singer ever but a highly skilled bass player. No matter who, what, when, or where, people always find themselves drawn to music one way or another – they really do!
And I think it’s beautiful.
Since we’re on the topic, let’s talk about how music has evolved greatly over the years. It has gone a long way and it will definitely go farther. We’re sure about that. We have seen many music fads and trends come and go. From blues, jazz, reggae to the more modern beats we have today such as pop, punk-rock, and EDM. Music is definitely here to stay and make people happier every day.
Music Yesterday, Music Today – A Comparison
Music has always been beautiful – no matter the day, no matter the season. It has this way of making a connection. It helps a person get in touch with his or her soul; helps him or her build a bond with others. Music, just like everything else, isn’t constant. As they say, it is only change that is constant in this world. So music, too, changes over time.
But how much of a change are we talking about?
We’re talking about a rather drastic one. Allow me to tell you why.
When we talk about music and things that create music, you would probably think of stringed or percussion instruments and large pianos or a person singing do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do.
After all, we were introduced to music this way. We were taught notes, frets, and rests in our music subjects. We were taught the number of beats a whole note and a half note have. I’ll bet five bucks you even had those clapping exercises; those one-ones and two-twos.
Nowadays, however, music isn’t as simple. There have been changes, improvements maybe. And people now have more means to produce sounds other than instruments. Let’s take up a few examples in order to understand these “changes” better:
Before, band practice required a lot of work. If you’re renting out a studio, setting up instruments can take 20 minutes or so – and that still does not include tuning and other band prepping rituals. Nowadays, people can do a complete band setup for half the time (and effort) required to do a setup before. Band equipment like amplifiers and mixers are much smaller than they used to.
They’re also much simpler to operate. A few clicks here, a few turns there and presto! You can go live right then and there. Instruments have also become smaller and more portable.
Drums, for instance, which is supposedly the most difficult and complicated instrument to carry around and set up, have electronic versions. That’s right. The younglings of today will never know the hassles of setting up drum sets thanks to electronic drums. If you’ve ever played BeatMania in an arcade before, then you’ve experienced exactly how it feels to play on electronic drums.
Another important innovation is EDM or Electronic Dance Music (check this out). You can pass yourself off as a musician without knowing the first thing about instruments these days. All you need to know is how to work a laptop and a music mixing software and you can call yourself a certified DJ. In fact, most pop songs released in recent years have integrated EDM into their track. It really makes you wonder if classic instruments are nearing their extinction.
But of course, that is something we hope never happens.
Classic instruments are timeless and we should always keep it that way – no matter how advanced, modern, or innovative we get. They are a part – a large and important part of music history. Instruments made the world happy when computers weren’t around. They brought people together when social media still wasn’t a thing. Overall, they made the world a happier place to live in.
Now, who wants that kind of thing to end?
What we should do is make sure that classic instruments remain alive in the hearts and minds of people. Real people deserve real music. Not to mention, it is way more fulfilling to learn an actual instrument over remixing electronic notes. When you learn to play an instrument, you teach yourself a number of good things other than just playing.
You learn discipline.
You learn perseverance.
You learn that hard work always pays off.
There is a lot more to being a musician than just knowing how to play. Learning an instrument teaches you that.
But hey, technology isn’t all that bad. In fact, you can always make it work to your benefit. You can learn how to play a real-life guitar, for example, with the help of the internet.
There are many music schools and training centers like Best Online Guitar Lessons Wizard that offer to teach you how to play instruments online. They often make use of video sharing applications to converse and educate eager learners.
And because they are only using an online classroom (that requires no rent), you can enjoy cheaper training fees. Get the chance to be taught by some of the best musicians all over the world when you try online guitar lessons.
It is important to note, however, that not all online music schools are great. Many, in fact, are pretty mediocre so always make sure to check online recommendations and reviews before you pick out an online school!

Richard Anthony Monsour (May 4, 1937 – March 16, 2019), better known by his stage name Dick Dale, was an American rock guitarist, known as The King of the Surf Guitar. He pioneered and created what many call the surf music style, drawing on Middle-Eastern music scales and experimenting with reverberation.
Dale worked closely with Fender to produce custom made amplifiers, including the first-ever 100-watt guitar amplifier. He pushed the limits of electric amplification technology, helping to develop new equipment that was capable of producing distorted, "thick, clearly defined tones" at "previously undreamed-of volumes."
The "breakneck speed of his single-note staccato picking technique" and showmanship with the guitar is considered a precursor to heavy metal music, influencing rock guitarists from the 1960s until eternity...
USA TODAY "Miserlou," which would become his signature song, had been adapted from a Middle Eastern folk tune Dale heard as a child and later transformed into a thundering surf-rock instrumental.
His fingering style was so frenetic that he shredded guitar picks during songs, a technique that forced him to stash spares on his guitar's body. "Better shred than dead," he liked to joke, an expression that eventually became the title of a 1997 anthology released by Rhino Records.
RIP DICK...our thoughts and prayers to all of friends, family and gazillion fans....
Hollywood Godfather is Gianni Russo's over-the-top memoir of a real-life mobster-turned-actor who helped make The Godfather a reality, and his story of life on the edge between danger and glamour.
Gianni Russo was a handsome 25-year-old mobster with no acting experience when he walked onto the set of The Godfather and entered Hollywood history. He played Carlo Rizzi, the husband of Connie Corleone, who set her brother Sonny―played by James Caan―up for a hit.
Russo didn't have to act―he knew the mob inside and out: from his childhood in Little Italy, where Mafia legend Frank Costello took him under his wing, to acting as a messenger for New Orleans mob boss Carlos Marcello during the Kennedy assassination, to having to go on the lam after shooting and killing a member of the Colombian drug cartel in his Vegas club.
Along the way, Russo befriended Frank Sinatra, who became his son's godfather, and Marlon Brando, who mentored his career as an actor after trying to get Francis Ford Coppola to fire him from The Godfather. Russo had passionate affairs with Marilyn Monroe, Liza Minelli, and scores of other celebrities. He went on to become a producer and starred in The Godfather: Parts I and II, Seabiscuit, Any Given Sunday and Rush Hour 2, among many other films.
Hollywood Godfather is a no-holds-barred account of a life filled with violence, glamour, sex―and fun.
