CARLOS MARCELLO: THE GODFATHER OF NEW ORLEANS

Godfather Carlos Marcello

Not one of the more famous of the Godfathers of the 50's and 60's Carlos Marcello was a tough leader and very connected to the mob worldwide. He went to prison several times but was released due to health issues in 1989 and died at home with his family in 1993 at 83 years old.

Carlos Marcello, Santo Trafficante Jr., and Frank Ragano left to right, were among a group of mobsters and attorneys who dined at La Stella Restaurant.

Thom L. Jones has written a 6-page profile of legendary New Orleans Mafia boss Carlos Marcello. It details his origins, how he began his life of crime, became a made member and rose to become one of America's most powerful organized crime figures. One rumored to have been involved in many secret operations, some in cooperation with the CIA.

Carlos Marcello, also known as The Godfather and "The Little Man" (February 6, 1910 – March 2, 1993), was a powerful Italian-American mafioso who ruled the New Orleans crime family from 1947 until the late 1980s. G. Robert Blakey and other conspiracy theorists have asserted that Marcello along with Santo Trafficante, Jr. and Sam Giancana masterminded the 1963 assassination of United States President John F. Kennedy in retaliation for federal prosecution that threatened their secret criminal organization's increasingly profitable businesses and their multibillion-dollar international organized crime empires. THE MAN WHO KILLED KENNEDY: ROGER STONE

55 years ago LBJ orchestrated the murder of President John F Kennedy in the streets of Dallas. Are used eyewitness evidence, fingerprint evidence and my knowledge of deep Texas politics to make the compelling case that Lyndon Johnson had the motive, means and opportunity to kill JFK.

IN MEMORIUM: JOHN F KENNEDY NOV 22 1963

WATCH THE ENTIRE NEWS COVERAGE OF THIS EVENT THROUGH THE FUNERAL

On Friday, November 22, 1963, I was 9 years old. Holy Name grade school gave us the day off and as I was watching TV at 12:30pm, Walter Cronkite came on with a news bulletin saying the President may have been hit by gunshots. What followed the next 3 days were some of the most sad days of my young life. Even 50 years later, it is still vivid in my minds eye. Michael McDaniel

I was in 4th grade, Mrs. Doyle's class at St. Agatha in Redford Township. Principal Sister Juliette came on the speaker and said "President Kennedy has been shot" and played the radio broadcast. Kids were crying and praying. We were sent home early and I was glued to the black&white TV for days. Even saw the Jack Ruby murder of Lee Harvey Oswald live. Remember screaming out to my Mother - "Mom! Some man shot the murderer." Then who could forget the funeral. And the pictures of JFK's family in mourning. I even put on my Sunday best for the funeral day. Quite a week of memories. Paul S Funk

"Mrs. Kennedy-- she only said a couple things when I was there," says Clint Hill, the agent assigned to protect the First Lady. He leapt onto the moving limousine to shield her and the president after he heard the first gunshots on Nov 22, 1963. As the limo careened toward the hospital, Mrs. Kennedy uttered only a few words. "She said, 'Oh, I have his brains in my hand.' And, 'Oh Jack, oh Jack, what have they done? I love you, Jack.' That's all I heard her say. There was nothing else said in the car at all."

AMERICAN HERO AGENT CLINT HILL: JFK 50 IN MEMORIUM: NOVEMBER 22, 1963

photo: i8urpenguin.tumblr.com

Secret Service agent Clint Hill is seen running towards Kennedy’s limo. As the car speeds up, the man struggles to hop on. He grabs a rung, nearly slips and pulls himself aboard. Pushing Jacqueline Kennedy back into the car – he draped his body over hers and the fatally-wounded president as the car speeds to Parkland Memorial Hospital.

#JFK50 THE JOURNALIST: Jim Lehrer was at #LoveField on Nov 22, 1963 reporting for the Dallas Times Herald when he asked a Secret Service agent whether they would leave the bubble top up on President #Kennedy’s limousine. The agent looked up at the sky, noted it was clear, then turned to the other agents: “Lose the bubble top.” Later that evening, at the #Dallas police station, Lehrer would

When the shots were fired in Dallas 50 years ago, only one Secret Service agent managed to reach President John F. Kennedy. Clint Hill is 81 now, but his memories are sharp. He was assigned to protect Mrs. Kennedy. Hill was standing closest to the first lady on the side of the car following the presidential limousine.

Jackie visits her husband's grave in 1964, as Clint Hill, her secret service agent follows close behind. He is the agent who was seen climbing onto the Presidential limo when Jackie tried to get away from the horror she had just witnessed. He was able to push her back into her seat and he climbed on top for protection on the way to Parkland hospital.

Hill was the only Agent to leave the follow-up car and attempt to protect those in the Presidential car. He rode spread-eagle over President and Mrs. Kennedy as the limousine raced to Dallas' Parkland Hospital. Hill was given an award from Mrs. Kennedy for "Extraordinary courage and heroic effort in the face of maximum danger."

The photo was taken by Jim Altgens, a few seconds after the fatal shot struck President Kennedy. Secret Service agent Clint Hill has jumped onto the back bumper of the limousine to aid Jacqueline Kennedy.

Hill remained assigned to Mrs. Kennedy and the children until after the 1964 presidential election. He then was assigned to President Johnson at the White House. Later, he became an agent in charge of presidential protection in '67 when Johnson was still in office and when Nixon came in, he moved over to Vice President Agnew, SAIC job.

Then they assigned Hill to headquarters where he became an assistant director for all protection. He retired in 1975.

JACKIE KENNEDY'S ICONIC PINK SUIT IN STORAGE FOR 100 YEARS

Robert Knudsen/White House

Wearing the bloodstained pink suit that has become one of the artifacts of Nov. 22, 1963, Ms. Kennedy arrived at Andrews Air Force Base and was escorted by her brother-in-law Robert F. Kennedy.

The National Archives keep the 'bloodstained' suit " OUT OF PUBLIC VIEW "

Ms. Kennedy wore the (Chanel knock off) pink suit at least six other times, including in 1962 to greet the prime minister of Algeria. But for the half century since John F. Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, the most famous artifact from that day, one of the most iconic articles of clothing ever worn, has been seen by almost no one. Now preserved by the National Archives in a climate-controlled vault outside of Washington, it is subject to Kennedy family restrictions that it not be seen for almost a century more.

That Mrs. Kennedy is so closely linked to an item of clothing is fitting. In nearly three years as first lady, she had gained universal celebrity for her youthful style. Politically, it meant huge crowds whenever she accompanied the president. But for Mrs. Kennedy, who felt vulnerable, fashion gave her a sense of separation from the public’s gaze. It was armor.

Now preserved in its vault, the pink suit and its accessories, still stained, the stockings blood-powdered and folded in a white towel, remain essentially unchanged from the day of the assassination. Only the outfit’s matching pillbox hat and white kid gloves are missing, lost in the chaos of that day.

On the plane back to Washington, in her pink "Chanel" suit, caked with her husband’s blood, Jackie Kennedy resisted all suggestions from aides that she clean herself up. Instead, she just said, “Let them see what they’ve done.” READ MORE ON RK

NIXON SAID LYNDON B JOHNSON ORDERED JFK ASSASSINATION

Stone analyses Johnson's personality agreeing with Pulitzer Prize winning biographer Robert Caro that Lyndon Johnson was an "amoral psychopath". Stone ties LBJ to at least eight political murders before JFK. LBJ would order a murder like you and I would order a ham sandwich," says Stone.

No one man benefited more from the assassination than Vice President Johnson. A thirst for power aside, without the presidency, Johnson was to be removed from the 1964 ticket by the Kennedys, and prosecuted and incarcerated due to his involvement the twin scandals of the Senate's Secretary to the Majority Leader, Bobby Baker and Texas wheeler dealer Billy Sol Estes.

Staring into the abyss, the choice for Lyndon Johnson was clear: to yoke the various entities that had a mutual interest in JFK's death; This included the CIA, the Mob and Texas Oil who feared JFK's repeal of the oil depletion allowance. Stone outlines LBJ's unique history with each.

The murder was orchestrated in Johnson's Texas, where his control of the Dallas Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff's Office, and the Dallas County District Attorney was absolute.

RICHARD NIXON believed his predecessor, Lyndon B Johnson, orchestrated the assassination of President John F Kennedy, a former Nixon aide has claimed.

Roger Stone, a Republican dirty tricks specialist who worked on eight presidential campaigns, makes the startling allegation in a new book, The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ.

It is one of more than 140 titles published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination on November 22 in Dallas, Texas. Stone's claim joins a long list of conspiracy theories that have been put forward in hundreds of other books since Kennedy died. The mafia, the CIA, the FBI, the KGB, Cuba, right-wing extremists and Aristotle Onassis have all been cited in challenges to the verdict of the official Warren Commission, which concluded that Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald acting alone.

Stone, 61, who worked for Nixon for some 15 years and served as his personal aide after he resigned the presidency in 1974 over the Watergate scandal, said the president made clear to him and other aides his belief that Johnson, Kennedy's Texan vice-president, was behind the plot. "The first time I asked him, he looked at me and said, 'You don't want to know'," Stone told The Sunday Times in an interview. "He didn't like to talk about what he considered old times but when he'd had a couple of cocktails he got very loquacious. Another time he got a very cold look in his eye and he said, 'Texas. Texas'."

Stone said Nixon described the Warren Commission as "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated", telling him: "The difference between LBJ and me was we both wanted to be president but I wouldn't kill for it." Nixon made similar statements, Stone says, to John Mitchell, his attorney-general, who was jailed for Watergate crimes, and Nicholas Ruwe, his assistant chief of protocol. Both men have been dead for more than two decades...READ FULL STORY

MARINA OSWALD STILL BELIEVES LEE HARVEY INNOCENT

Marina Oswald, the Russian beauty whom the JFK assassin wedded while living in the Soviet Union, has built a new life in Rockwall, with her second husband, Kenneth Porter, 75.

She has a son, Mark, 47, with Porter, and two children, June, 51, and Rachel, 50, from her marriage to Oswald. They have lived in Rockwall since the mid-1970s and have a good reputation in the small Dallas suburb. MORE PHOTOS

Marina, a Russian immigrant to the U.S., was living apart from Oswald when he shot dead President Kennedy on November 22, 1963.

The night before the assassination she remembers him bringing his rifle to her home and putting it in the garage. The next day, she noticed it was gone.

Due to her relationship with Oswald, Marina found herself the focus of intense scrutiny, so has spent many years hidden away in the small town, where a sign at the end of her driveway warns to 'Keep Out'. Read more:
