San Francisco Based Popular Irish-influenced Rock Band The Shams Release Their New “One and All” EP

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco based band The Shams are releasing their highly anticipated EP “One and All” on February 24th, 2015. This multifaceted, Irish-influenced rock band showcases their strong and original song writing skills, and the lads are touring across the West Coast to promote their explosive EP. They began by hosting an intimate CD release party with family, friends, and fans at the iconic Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on January 16th, followed by a second release party at Neck of The Woods on Valentine’s Day with well-known Boston reggae band Spiritual Rez, and a headlining performance at The Great American Music Hall on Friday March 13th.

The EP, produced by John Cesario (who has worked with big acts such as Fleetwood Mac and Eddie Money, and is the creator of Rocket Songs) and engineered by Chris Cortez (Nice N Up Studios), has a raw and unique feel to it – yet while it is influenced by their Irish roots, their eclectic songs put them into a new genre of their own creation and appeals to music lovers of all ages.

The Shams have been featured at local music hotspots such as The Milk Bar, Bottom of the Hill, and Neck of the Woods in San Francisco, as well as 19 Broadway in Fairfax, The Starry Plough in Berkeley and legendary L.A. favorites Molly Malone’s and The House of Blues. They have played with national acts such as The Stone Foxes and Dig The Kid, and played with world-renowned Irish musician Damien Dempsey.

Whether it was a stroke of luck or pure genius, The Shams formed in 2011 when musician and guitarist Joey Kennedy (Kilkenny, Ireland) reached out to his friend and fellow Irishman Sean Daly (Donegal, Ireland) to join musical forces as the front man for their new project. Daly quickly brought in James Scragg (Cork, Ireland), an old friend and accomplished drummer. Shortly after, talented Irish-American Tommy O`Mahony joined the band with his funky bass. The final member to join was Northern California native Henry Moser, whose expertise on the electric guitar rounds out the group’s explosive and distinctive sound.

The Shams are quickly becoming a fan-favorite by combining their hard rocking, punked-up beat and raw, powerful vocals. Their repertoire of original songs reach deep down into their rebel roots and pulls out incredibly original tracks that illuminate what it means to be Irish. They provide listeners with a new, hard-hitting perspective on the evolution of Irish music, unlike any you’ve heard before. With each fiery live performance, The Shams are leaving listeners begging for more.

Canada - In February 2015, guitarist EWAN DOBSON embarks on a 3 month coast-to-coast North American Tour, hitting all major markets! North America is big, so Ewan Dobson will release not one, but two new albums to support his North American tour. ACOUSTIC METAL II is the first of these two new releases and is the follow-up to the Acoustic Metal 1. 12-String Guitar includes 12-string versions of material from Ewan´s previous albums along with 5 new unreleased songs. The show will include material spanning Ewan´s entire catalog performed finger style and with flat pick.

On Friday, July 4th, 2014, guitar virtuoso & YouTube sensation EWAN DOBSON releases his 9th solo album, Acoustic Metal II. Recorded in complete isolation in the backwoods of Canada just after completing his tour of Europe, Acoustic Metal II is the follow-up to Acoustic Metal (CandyRat Records, 2013). and features multi-tracked acoustic guitar played with a flat-pick. With Acoustic Metal II, Ewan shows that acoustic guitar can definitely be metal, and you don´t necessarily need distortion.

“Think Spanish Flamenco in a head on crash with a bus filled with Kerry King, Dave Mustaine and Dimebag Darrell! It’s when you listen to this record you can easily understand why ex-Megadeth guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman selected Ewan to play the acoustic parts that appears on Marty Friedman’s latest album Inferno. Friedman was even quoted saying 'Ewan played the parts so beautifully and with so much expertise and flair that Jason (Becker) and I were in awe of his performance.' Lets be fair, that statement alone deserves a round of applause.” - http://themetalreview.com/albums/ewan-dobson-acoustic-metal-ii-review/

CandyRat Records recording artist Ewan Dobson has established himself as one of Canada’s most brilliant and exhilarating guitarists, having performed at such prestigious events and venues as:
Burlington Rotary Fall Music Festival
Pickering Rotary Music Festival
Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competition
Montreal Guitar Grand Prix
International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship
Hammerson Hall in Mississauga ’s Living Arts Centre
George Weston Recital Hall in the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts
Royal Bank Theatre of the Living Arts Centre
Lebovic Centre for the Performing Arts
Montreal Jazz Festival

“Time 2” from Ewan´s second album was his most successful song and became a viral video hit on the internet acquiring millions of views. The video has been specially featured on numerous media websites across the internet (ie: http://www.reddit.com, http://www.ebaumsworld.com, http://www.collegehumor.com to name but a few). The song reached #1 on the iTunes charts in Finland, Germany and Sweden. It also reached #2 in Austria, #3 in Japan and the Netherlands , #4 in New Zealand and #5 in Denmark. To date, “Time 2” has accrued over 16 million views!

In early 2014, Ewan embarked on his first major tour of Europe. The “European Acoustic Metal Tour” consisted of 38 shows in 43 days covering Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Turkey, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary. The tour was a great success and the fans across Europe were delighted by his performances.

Immediately following this tour, Ewan recorded two albums back to back; 'Acoustic Metal II' and '12-String Guitar'. 'Acoustic Metal II' ups the game from the previous 'Acoustic Metal I', bringing with it heavier riffs and more evolved song writing. There are 14 new tracks guaranteed to captivate those who appreciate the heavy acoustic guitar and dual guitar harmonies. 'Acoustic Metal II' is played entirely with a flat-pick and does not contain any fingerstyle guitar unlike 'Acoustic Metal I'. It ranges from technical acoustic death metal to progressive acoustic metal and what could be described as “video-game acoustic metal.”

He was a spoiled fella.

John “Junior” Gotti was a “self-mutilating” stunad with no street cred, according to his former best friend and mob turncoat John Alite.

“He’s like Kim Jong-un — a spoiled brat that took advantage of guys around us by his dad’s authority,” the former Gambino crime-family enforcer seethed to The Post.

“Ever since we were kids, he’s self-mutilating himself, burning himself with cigars,” Alite said in his first interview before a book by George Anastasia — “Gotti’s Rules: The Story of John Alite, Junior Gotti, and the Demise of the American Mafia” (Dey St. Books) — hits shelves on Jan. 27. The massive warehouse took up a block on Chicago’s South Wabash Avenue. Shades and wire screens blocked the windows. Iron bars reinforced the double doors. The sign read “The Old Reliable Trucking Company,” but the building gave off the yeasty odor of brewing beer. It was an Al Capone operation.

At dawn on April 11, 1931, a ten-ton truck with a steel bumper rammed through the double doors. Alarm bells clanged as Prohibition agents rushed inside and nabbed five brewery workers. Then they set about blowtorching the brewing equipment, upending vats, hacking barrels open. They sent a cascade of beer worth the modern equivalent of $1.5 million into the sewer.

Eliot Ness had struck again. “It’s funny, I think, when you back up a truck to a brewery door and smash it in,” Ness told a reporter. No one had so brazenly challenged Capone before, but then, the Prohibition Bureau had few agents like Ness. In a force known for corruption and ineptitude, he was known for turning down bribes bigger than his annual salary.

He was 28, a college graduate, with blue-gray eyes, slicked-back dark hair and a square-set jaw, and he had a way with the press. When he took to calling his men “the Untouchables,” because the abuse they took from Capone’s men reminded Ness of India’s lowest caste, reporters adopted the nickname as a metaphor for the squad’s refusal to take bribes. Soon newspapers across the country were celebrating Ness as Capone’s nemesis. READ FULL STORY HERE

The World signifies completion, achievement and fulfillment. All of your efforts are finally paying off and you have reached the end of a journey or have completed a major life cycle. You have endured hardships and challenges along the way but these have only made you stronger and significantly wiser and more experienced than when you first started on your journey.

It could represent a graduation, a marriage, the birth of a child (representing the end of a pregnancy), or the attainment of a long held dream or aspiration. You have finally accomplished your goal or purpose. Everything has come together, and you are in the right place, doing the right thing, achieving what you have envisioned, and feeling fulfilled and complete. In this sense, the World card also heralds new beginnings that naturally emerge out of the completion cycle.

Rock Sax Legend From The Beatles to The Eagles, Phil Kenzie Tours to Save Our R&R Sax Solo and Releases New Album

The Last Of The Great Rock Sax Players Phil Kenzie! Saxophonist With The Beatles, John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Al Stewart, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, The Eagles and many Others!

Nashville, TN - With the recent passing of Bobby Keys, the last of the legendary rock sax players still remains - Phil Kenzie! Phil has the great distinction of playing sax on The Beatles legendary 'Let It Be' album! Along with The Beatles, Phil's impressive resume includes recording sessions and tours with such iconic music groups and artists as John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, The Eagles and many others. It's easy to be familiar with Phil Kenzie's superb sax work.

Just recall the soaring solos on Al Stewart's “Year of the Cat” or “Time Passages” still enjoying favored airplay to this day, or the punchy brass intro to “Jet” by Paul McCartney, or the inspired solo on “The Long Run” from “The Eagles Live” album. In fact, this gifted sax player/arranger has lent his masterful touch to hits by everyone from Rod Stewart to Jackson Browne, Stevie Nicks and Rosanne Cash to David Bowie, and in the process amassed some nineteen gold and platinum albums! Phil also holds the world record for the highest note ever played on Alto Sax on a solo on a top ten hit record (entry note on the first solo on “Time Passages” by Al Stewart).

A documentary of Phil's incredible musical journey is in progress and is 99% finished. With 120 minutes in length, it is produced by Harry Jarvis an Independent video producer from Nashville TN.

Phil relates, “I'm originally from the Liverpool area in England and in my first band, The Pressmen, I played many of the clubs made legendary by The Beatles, even occasionally sharing billing with the 'Fab Four', including The Cavern and Hamburg's famous Star Club. So it was totally appropriate that I should be asked later to play on the most classic 'swan song' of the century, 'Let It Be'.

This connection continued with my work on recordings for Apple Records, most notably John and Yoko's 'Plastic Ono Band' at Lennon's home in Ascot and all of the horn section work and solos on George Harrison’s 'All Things Must Pass' and playing in the massive sax section on 'Jet' for Paul McCartney and Wings. Through these sessions, I also worked with such notable stars as Eric Clapton, Steven Stills, Peter Frampton, Delaney & Bonnie, Leon Russell, Doris Troy and Billy Preston.

“As a session man, I was doing gigs around London with Manfred Mann's 'Chapter Three', arranging and performing shows for Jack Good's psychedelic update of Othello entitled 'Catch My Soul', finding time to appear on Paul McCartney's 'Band On The Run' album and to be heavily involved in the hit cult classic 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', playing and recording both the show and the movie; supplying the screaming rock sax for Meatloaf's portrayal of 'Eddie'.

During this time I also worked with Alan Parsons, David Essex, Joan Armatrading, Ian Gillan, Alex Harvey, Leo Sayer, Black Sabbath, Steve Harley, Marc Bolan, Wishbone Ash, Annie Lennox, David Bowie, The Coasters, The Temptations, Arthur Connolly, Mick Ronson, Ian Hunter and Roger Daltrey appearing on his 'Ride a Rock Horse' and 'One Of The Boys' albums and on both David Bowie's 'Diamond Dogs' album and his wildly inventive television special 'The 1980 Floor Show'.

At this point I was asked by Alan Parsons to record what would become a legendary hit 'Year of The Cat' by Al Stewart. In the subsequent tour of America and another hit for Al, 'Time Passages', I caught the attention of Rod Stewart and was asked to join his band, recording with Rod what would turn out to be his biggest album to date 'Blondes Have More Fun'. I would ultimately appear on five albums for Rod including 'Footloose and Fancy Free', 'Foolish Behaviour', 'Rod Stewart Truly Live' and 'Greatest Hits'.”

Now, much to the excitement of his fans worldwide, Phil is releasing a CD titled 'A Night With The Cat'. The album, recorded between 1998 and 2008, has never been released before and is an instrumental depiction of the lyrics/story of “The Year Of The Cat” hit single by Al Stewart, in which Phil plays the world acclaimed hit saxophone solo. Titles on Phil's new CD reflect the lyrics of the song. Phil is backed on 'A Night With The Cat' by Peter White “king of the soft jazz charts”and legendary session players Bob Babbitt and Larry Knechtal.

Says Phil, “The album's listed producers are Phil Kenzie and Michael Snow and the album was recorded partially in Los Angeles and partially in Nashville Tennessee. It was done in my personal recording studios using analog and digital methodology and myself being the recording, mixing and mastering engineer. I am Industry recognized in these fields.

My daughter Anna Pauline Kenzie did all the hand drawn and digitally colored artwork for the CD sleeve which is exceptional. Apart from both composition and musical artistic performances by current top 'Soft Jazz' star Peter White. There are what well might be the final recording performances from two of the biggest iconic pop/rock session artists of our age, Bob Babbitt ( Motown, “Poppa Was A Rolling Stone” etc) and Larry Knechtel (Bread, The Wrecking Crew, “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” etc.). These two legends both passed away in recent years. The album contains a composition and a performance by Larry called 'Amazing' which I co-wrote with him.”

In support of his new CD release, plans for Phil's S.O.S.S (Save Our Sax Solo) tour is currently in the works. The show will premier at Jazziz Nightlife on Jan 15th, 2015 in Boca Raton, Florida.

Subject: Hello I saw your site and there is a photo there of Ron and Larry and Krissy. I grew up with Krissy and I am the one that took that photo and a few more ( see my facebook if you want. I am glad that photo is found cuz its hard to get krissy to find photos we took. She is old fashion and wont even get on the computer but to see photos i send her husband. I usually call her on the phone.. I have asked her a few times go thru our old photos but she hasnt yet LOL.

Anyway just wanted you to know that was taken by me when we took Ron and some other of the entourage to see him but cant remember who it was possibly a guy named tony who worked for the stooges then. No photos tho that i have.

Now .. i saw a list of comments possibly from myspace there is one that is bugging the crap out of me and because it is NOT TRUE at all EVER ... NEVER HAPPENED. Was going ot ask you to remove it.. The comment said.. that Ron use to sneak larry out to gamble that never happened i laughed and i cant wait to call Krissy about that one.

anyway so happy that you have this photo up. I put it up on facebook and will post it a few fb places because i run some groups. And I really do miss Ron he was a wonderful guy. He dated Krissy and became a good friend back in those days.

What is true is I remember me an Krissy taking Iggy to Denny's after the whiskey on one occasion he wore my big fur coat .. then we go to Denny's rock n roll Denny's everyone knows it. And he ordered pie and nearly nodded out in it .. we had to carry him between us back to the car and up to the house when they lived next to the Hyatt in that apt complex (Coronet) it was a pink complex at the time. LOL strange things i remember...

Larry was a very private man he would not visit with many people. When we lived in the big house in Los Feliz I use to live with Krissy there mostly in the summers. Larry had the back house. He did not get visitors but the maid and his nurses.. when he moved to the Motion picture home there was alot of red tape to get into that place.. and you couldn't just walk in and visit anyone sorry you must have an invitation and it was definitely fenced to keep it private.

Larry was living with stroke problems at that time he could not do alot for himself then. So just the fact that he may have been smoking is kind of laughable as he was under doctors care at all times. It amazes me that this rumor is set in some folks minds but like i said. Ron may have wanted to boast a bit. He was a funny guy.. sorry I have no way to prove to you but me being there should amount to some credibility. Like i said people can believe what they like. Ill give Krissy a call and ask her today or tomorrow if she ever heard such a rumor. Take care new friend. Cheers Dee

Here is your Daily Tarot for Friday, January 2

The Queen of Cups card suggests that my power today lies in intuition and drama. I trust my intuition and nurture an environment of deep devotion, patience, and intense passion. I mirror my hearts desire and am never too busy to connect to those who trust, love and need me. "It's the thought that counts." Many can say "I would die for them" -- only I can live for them -- spoken with sincerity by a true "Drama Queen." I am empowered by embracing my emotions as a gift and unconditional love is my Holy Grail or gift.

When the Queen of Cups appears in a reading, it suggests that you need to empathise with others and to show true compassion. Focus on the emotional well-being of others rather than relying on rational or logical explanation. You are here to support and to teach others, by drawing upon your own intuition and sense of calm and emotional connectedness. Learn how those in need cope with life’s challenges and share your knowledge. Hug someone you care about.

One of the greatest assets of the Queen of Cups is her ability to sense the needs of those around her. Due to her associations with the element of water, the Queen of Cups can be passive and receptive. Her sensitivity draws those who struggle and suffer towards her. In many ways, she is a safe harbor for others. Her ability to connect on a soul level enables her to remedy the broken hearts of others. Her warmth and genuine caring make her a beacon of light. Because she is so responsive to the feelings of others, the Queen of Cups must constantly uphold her boundaries between herself and others. If not properly protected, the Queen of Cups can lose her own sense of self. This is her greatest vulnerability.
