AUSTRALIAN HARD ROCK BAND ROSE TATTOO UNLEASH NEW LP OUTLAWS!

Australian Hard Rock Legends Rose Tattoo Unleash “Outlaws” Album March 6, 2020!

Rose Tattoo are extraordinarily proud to announce the release of “Outlaws”, the album, on March 6. A re-recording of the famed first and iconic “Rock N Roll Outlaw”, spawning classics like “Nice Boys” (Don’t Play Rock ‘n’ Roll), “Rock N’ Roll Outlaw”, “One Of The Boys” and, “Bad Boy For Love” these songs have etched their way into the music landscape over the last 40+ years. The magik with a ‘k’ is that they’ve included three bonus tracks from the very early days, songs that were demoed and never made the final cut, being a ‘love song’ “Rosetta” written back in 1975 by Anderson and Rilens, “Snow Queen” and “Sweet Love Rock and Roll” penned by Ian Rilens.

Loveable rogue, Angry Anderson recruited the best in the business to head up the assault on this one comprising legendary bass player, Mark Evans of AC/DC fame, iconic guitarist Bob Spencer – Finch, Skyhooks, The Angels, and, Pete Well’s endorsed, “unbelievably talented maestro of rock mayhem”, Dai Pritchard on slide. Keeping the drum stool warm on this outing is ‘Genghis’, the keeper of time, Jackie Barnes.

“For me, that’s critically important, cosmically important, because this album is all about history, heritage, honor, and respect. Just as significant is the forging, the embracing, and the official signing on if you like, to that history by THIS band and having them make their own reverent mark. This really is about honoring the past and respecting the present.” – Angry Anderson

“Rock N’ Roll Outlaw”, was originally recorded at the famed Alberts studios, produced by the legendary team, Vanda & Young and, released through Albert, Repertoire Records in late 1978. The band's debut album reviewed as “A dangerous, unpredictable, monster of a record whose power has hardly diminished an ounce in the decades since this album cemented the band’s foundation for the years to come.”

“The universe owes a deep unpayable debt to this band’s founders Peter Wells and Ian Rilen as well as Mick Cocks, Dallas ‘Digger’ Royal, Geordie Leach, Rockin’ Robin Riley, and Lobby Loyde. Paul DeMarco, Dai Pritchard, and Steve King have of course honorably kept the temple flame burning brightly more recently, but the album also rightfully acknowledges the foresight and support of Ted Albert, Fifa Riccobono, George Young and Harry Vanda who saw something in this band back when most other record companies were calling the cops.” – Angry Anderson

“Outlaws” will be released by Cleopatra Records on all digital platforms as well as on CD and a special limited edition vinyl pressing in your choice of RED or SILVER!

MADISON DANIEL NEW AUSSIE POP STAR HAS NEW RELEASE!

Madison Daniel is a fast-rising 20-year-old singer-songwriter and actress whose roots in the seaside town of Mount Martha, Melbourne, Australia, lend her a unique sound that encompasses all genres, from pop to indie and even rock and hip hop.

Madison was first introduced to playing music by her grandfather, who shared a love of the piano and taught her how to play. Soon after, Madison picked up the guitar and hasn't put it down since.

Madison's first taste of acting was at age 13, when she played Claudia Howard on the popular Australian show, 'Neighbours,' and later went back on the show at age 15 for on ongoing role as Josie Lamb.

This was a crowning moment for the budding performer, as she recalled being told at a very early age by her own intuitive mother that she would be on the show – and she did it. Madison's other television credits include 'Winners and Losers' and playing Hugo Weavings daughter Rachel in 2017 ABC series 'Seven Types of Ambiguity'.

In parallel with her budding acting career, Madison continued to focus on music. Pulling influence from her jazz and blues multi-instrumentalist grandfather, her rock band singing Aunt, her dad's love of rock n' roll and her mum's alternative preference, Madison developed a sound all her own.

As a mentor to Madison, producer, Paul Beard, exposed the budding songstress to lessons outside the classroom and in the music industry. Beard, who has worked with James Blunt, Leona Lewis and other big name artists, helped Madison gain the knowledge and experience needed to make her mark with a worldwide audience.

Crediting life and connecting with others around her as inspiration for her music, Madison is passionate about allowing others to feel through her art. As a versatile artist, Madison's influences led her to writing songs, from sad love ballads to acoustic-rap, and with such a varying compilation of sounds, Madison wants people and her fans to feel with laughter, tears and love, when listening to her music.

PURCHASE: When I Fall Asleep LP

In July 2018, Madison's Australian commercial hit record, 'Love Is Love', officially made its U.S. debut by way of Spotify, and a soon-to-be released music video. The song delves into why we as human beings need to rid ourselves and our world of judgement and bias, and allow our fellow human beings to love as they wish.

The song was originally written in celebration of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Australia, an issue near and dear to Madison's heart, but its message is worldwide and certainly relevant to the U.S. political climate.

SAN CISCO TO RELEASE 3RD ALBUM MAY 5TH

San Cisco To Release Third Album 'The Water'
May 5th
First Single SloMo Out Now

April 21st, 2017 Fremantle, Australia/New York, NY: San Cisco will be releasing their third album 'The Water' on May 5th via their own Island City Records, distributed through Metropolitan Groove Merchants in America. This is the follow up to 2015's 'Gracetown' that Noisey called "the kind of thing you'll want to listen to all summer." The songs on The Water were penned by singer Jordi Davieson over a relatively short time span and in his words, are “a good snapshot of my life and headspace earlier this year”.

Production wise, The Water takes a new direction from previous releases and is more of a collaborative effort that came to life in the studio the during recording process. The result is an album that is as diverse in its sound as it is in subject matters.

The album was made over a six-month period last year, in staggered sessions that went for one or two weeks at a time. Drummer and singer Scarlett Stevens says the plan with The Water, which was written and produced with San Cisco’s long-time collaborator Steve Schram, was “to refine the San Cisco sound”. Not only has that sound been refined and enhanced by 10 deliciously upbeat pop songs, but the hook quotient has been increased significantly.

The Water features the disco tinged classic SloMo you can check out here:

Formed in Fremantle, Western Australia in 2009, San Cisco is comprised of Jordi Davieson (vocals/guitar), Josh Biondillo (guitar), Nick Gardner (bass), and Scarlett Stevens (vocals/drums.) The band released their first EP Golden Revolver in 2010, followed up by their break out hit Awkward that presently has nearly 10 million views on YouTube. The debut self-titled album followed in 2012 earning the band nominations for Breakthrough Artist - Release, Best Independent Release and Best Dance Release at the ARIA Music Awards in 2013.

Their sophomore album 'Gracetown' with a more mature sound was released in 2015 to critical acclaim: "There’s much more emotional and musical heft to their sugary sweetness as on “Magic”, “Too Much Time Together” and “Run”, but the album’s highlights come when San Cisco go for broke and head off the rails in the impressively strange “Super Slow” and slinky electro-funk closer “Just For a Minute” Rolling Stone Australia.

NME also heralded the album's sound: "As single ‘Too Much Time Together’ attests, polished follow up ‘Gracetown’ is an even poppier confection, sugared with breathless adolescent crushes on opener ‘Run’ and syrupy R&B on vocoder jam ‘Super Slow’. With The Water, the band continues to evolve and improve on their songwriting and they look forward to showcasing the tunes on an upcoming American tour, soon to be announced.

JOSH CASHMAN RELEASES NEW SINGLE: LISTENING

Josh Cashman Releases New Single – Listening
New EP Expected in May

“The young musician from Melbourne, with his emotion-filled nature, is comparable to that of Ed Sheeran. (Patience) is a beautiful tune… made majestic with his falsetto-filled harmonies. A real stunner of a song, to say the least.” - Vulture Magazine (Australia)

March 27th- Melbourne, AU/New York, NY: Fresh from his debut showcases at SXSW and 2017 US tour support for sold out Tash Sultana, Australian Singer Songwriter Josh Cashman has released his latest single Listening on March 24th via One Love.

The track is taken from his forthcoming yet-to-be-titled EP. This is the follow up to last year's full-length LP Wishful Imagery - peaking #6 overall on Triple J Unearthed Charts.

Locking himself away in the studio with Jan Skubiszewski (John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire, ILLY), Listening evokes a newfound sense of confidence and maturity - a mix of both organic and electronic instrumentation that broadening Cashman’s overall soundscape, delivering a truly beautiful song which showcases a song writing talent mature beyond his 21 years.

A gifted, self-taught musician with a fiercely loyal fan base, Josh Cashman has sold-out revered Melbourne venues,

The Worker’s Club and Penny Black, as well as a residency at Ding Dong Lounge. Recently Josh did 6 showcases at SXSW and the best by far was BD Riley's on Sat 18th March which was at capacity.

The show was for Sounds Australia and the audience had foreigners and locals alike who were singing along. Josh's official showcase at CU29 Bar on the same evening was also packed, and the crowd kept asking for more songs once he was done. It's a good that there are a lot more songs to come from Josh Cashman.

GEOFFREY GURRUMUL: SOULFUL NEW RELEASE

This amazing debut by Geoffrey Gurrumul is soul reaching and so amazingly lovely....

Those with the biggest impact don't always have the loudest voice. Take the otherworldly vocal prowess of GURRUMUL, a blind Aboriginal man whose powerfully emotive voice fuels the lush and gorgeously orchestrated album GURRUMUL (Skinnyfish Records; release date July 22, 2014).

GURRUMUL Photo credit: ADRIAN COOK

While many artists in music today vie for attention with flash and histrionics, Gurrumul needs nothing but his high tenor to evoke emotion, compassion and peace. It's what made this unassuming member of the Gumatj clan a hugely-respected celebrity in his native Australia. In his music, Gurrumul draws on the stories of the more than 40,000 year old Aboriginal culture, which is older than any other known.

Adored and revered by the likes of Sting, Elton John, will.i.am, Stevie Wonder, Prince Charles and his Queen Mother among multitudes of others, Gurrumul sings songs about identity, spirit and connection with the land, its elements and the ancestral beings he's related to. Mostly, all the songs are in his native tongue of Yolngu, and it doesn't matter if the words are not understood. It's an innate and natural language that transcends language barriers, changing the way people listen to and experience music.

CHRIS KLONDIKE MASUAK: AUSTRALIAN GUITAR STORY

 Chris Masuak

Australian Guitar Magazine just did a nice post for one of my very favorite guys....check it out!

Two years after he packed up his worldly possessions, bid Australia goodbye and headed off to make a new life in Spain, guitar gun Chris “Klondike” Masuak is heading back to Sydney for a handful of shows.

The Canadian-born, Australian Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will play a special Christmas gig at The Square in Haymarket on Saturday, December 21 with very special guests Dr Bombay and The Stukas.

Masuak, whose lineage includes Radio Birdman, The Hitmen, the Screaming Tribesmen, the New Christs and the Juke Savages, has been busy touring Europe with Spanish and French backing bands as well as being involved in a reformation of the Screaming Tribesmen for dates in Spain and France.

He’ll have his crack band The North 40 (Red Porter on bass, Gerard Presland drumming) in tow for his Australian dates.

Brisbane-based Dr Bombay is led by former Voodoo Lust frontman Gary Slater and will be making their Sydney debut.

The Stukas originally surfaced during the halcyon punk days of The Grand Hotel in the early 1980s and pride themselves on being Sydney’s most reviled band. The band is reforming after a long absence.

THE VISITORS REUNITE TO SUPPORT THE RON ASHETON FOUNDATION!

Retro Kimmer

The untimely passing of Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton in January 2009 was felt around the world - but particularly in Australia.

A stellar line-up of Australian bands - including the Hoodoo Gurus - will recognise that fact by playing a tribute show benefitting the Ron Asheton Foundation at the Manning Bar at Sydney University on Friday, December 6.

The influence of Asheton and his bandmates held sway over the underground music scene in Australia like few others. From Sydney’s Radio Birdman to Brisbane’s Saints and Melbourne’s Birthday Party, innumerable bands owed a debt.

Legendary post Radio Birdman band The Visitors, led by Ron’s close friend Deniz Tek and fea lead vocalist Mark Sisto, will headline the night, making one of only a handful of appearances since disbanding in 1979.

ARIA Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Hoodoo Gurus will appear as special guests with a short and sharp set put together just for this occasion.

The New Christs, the band fronted by Deniz’s ex-Birdman bandmate Rob Younger, will join them on the heavyweight bill.

The SC5 – a sporadic Sydney tribute to Stooges contemporaries the MC5 – and The Four Stooges, reprising songs of the Stooges, will round out the list. Both bands feature a range of Sydney rock scene luminaries.

SAVE THE SANDRINGHAM " THE SANDO" LIVE ROCK VENUE

Dear RK readers... The Sando in Sydney is in danger of being shut down... My friends Deniz Tek, Chris Klondike Masuak, and Niagara Detroit have all played there and this is a very cool venue!! I have been asked to help raise the visibility of the horrible situation.. Plz take a minute to read this story and watch the videos....xK

A bit of history on The Sando posted 2 days ago by blogger Shirley Pena... The Sandringham hotel, located at the southern end of busy King Street, Newtown, Sydney, Australia, was built in the 1860′s and originally was a coach house-style hotel. In the early years the hotel played host to and accommodated traveling actors who were performing at local theaters, business men and travelers to Sydney.

It played a significant role in the community, and staged many local community events on its original balcony such as election and community speeches. On certain occasions it even acted as the local morgue! It was recognized this year by the Marrickville Council as the oldest existing business in its municipality.

Sandringham Hotel - Sunday August 26 2012 Members of ACDC, The Angels, Rose Tattoo, & The Choirboys playing on the back of a flatbed truck, supporting the 'Save Our Sando' fundraiser on King St Newtown,

The Commonwealth Bank is attempting to close The Sandringham Hotel even though the owners have never missed a payment. They need to wait until the Senate enquiry is complete before winding up the hotel.

Do not bank with The Commonwealth Bank if you support live music in Sydney.

Today, the Sandringham Hotel, or “The Sando” as it is affectionately known in the area, is a Sydney icon. The hotel is renowned for its venue which for many years has played host to a wide variety of artists and bands both known and unknown. Within the music industry “The Sando” is recognised as a place where young bands can get a start and where established acts feel comfortable performing showcase and warm up gigs. The hotel has maintained this reputation which sets it apart from other hotels in the area.
