12 GORGEOUS CHRISTMAS TREE DESIGNS FOR 2019

Christmas trees originally begin as a pagan tradition as early as the fourth century C.E., according to ABC News. Europeans of the old religion were largely responsible for dressing their homes with the branches of evergreen fir trees in order to bring color and light into their dull winters.

Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it in the 16th century when devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. ... It is a widely held belief that Martin Luther, the 16th-century Protestant reformer, first added lighted candles to a tree.

The history of Christmas trees goes back to the symbolic use of evergreens in ancient Egypt and Rome and continued with the German tradition of candlelit Christmas trees first brought to America in the 1800s.

UNOFFICIAL TOUR—I had the amazing opportunity to deck the halls at the White House. When the decorating was complete, we were invited to a reception with the First Lady! It was a beautiful afternoon surrounded by many talented individuals that I met from all across the country and even a few from other countries.

MORE ABOUT RETRO FABULOUS ALUMINUM CHRISTMAS TREES!

Evergleam aluminum Christmas trees were all the rage in the early 1960s. The Manitowoc-made trees were anything but natural - artsy, space-aged, jaw-dropping.

The aluminum Christmas tree is a type of artificial Christmas tree that was popular in the United States from 1958 until about the mid-1960s. As its name suggests, the tree is made of aluminum, featuring foil needles and illumination from below via a rotating color wheel.

The poor aluminum Christmas tree was rendered "uncool"  as it was the symbol of the commercialization of Christmas in the highly acclaimed and successful 1965 television special, A Charlie Brown Christmas.  The cartoon discredited its suitability as a holiday decoration.

By the mid-2000s with a fabulous boost in all that is "retro"  aluminum trees found a a new market online, often selling for high premiums. The trees have also appeared in museum collections. They are much more lush and beautiful than the old trees of the 1960s. Costly but gorgeous...

By 1989, it was not uncommon to find aluminum Christmas trees for sale in yard sales or at estate sales being sold for as little as 25 cents.

In recent years the aluminum Christmas tree has seen a re-emergence in popularity. Collectors began buying and selling the trees, especially on online auction web sites.
