PINK DOTS TEAM WITH BADFINGER ON NEW VERSION OF MIDNIGHT CALLER

THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS Team With Classic Rock Legends BADFINGER For A New Version Of “Midnight Caller!”

Los Angeles, CA - The Legendary Pink Dots founder Edward Ka-Spel is well-known as one of the most prolific artists to emerge from the ‘80s post-punk underground but in his 40+ studio albums with the Dots, Ka-Spel has never done something quite as adventurous as this new single. “Midnight Caller” is one of the highlights from Badfinger’s smash hit album from 1970 No Dice, and this year Ka-Spel was given the opportunity to refresh this classic track, bringing his own prodigious production skills and immense talent for arrangement to the late great Pete Ham’s composition. Featuring vocals and bass by longtime Badfinger bandleader Joey Molland, “Midnight Caller” becomes in the hands of Ka-Spel simultaneously more lush and more sinister offering a dark psychedelic spin that seeps its way into almost everything The Dots touch.

5 MUST-VISIT VINEYARDS IN CROATIA

Croatia.jpeg

If you have a sweet tooth for wine, Croatia must be in your bucket list. The country has made some of the finest wine in the world for more than 4000 years. You can then imagine their mastery of the winemaking craft.

In recognition of their prowess in winemaking, wineries in Croatia offer wine tasting tours to different regions throughout the country. According to Mypaperwriter.com, students who hire professional writers have more time to enjoy their college years, including visits to such places as Croatia where your view of the world is changed forever. Here are the top 5 must-visit vineyards in Croatia.

Korta Katarina Winery, Peljesac

The winery is located in one of the oldest winemaking regions in Croatia. The Peljesac Peninsula extends into Adriatic, one of the best environments for wine production. It is located in some of the southernmost regions of Croatia where the best tasting wine is produced.

To get to Korta Katarina Winery, you can fly into the region from the capital a journey of one hour from Dubrovnik. The region is home to Postup and Dingac, some of the initial appellations of controlled origins to be registered in Croatia. The rich tradition of winemaking also makes their varieties unique and guaranteed to awaken your tastebuds.

A unique attraction when visiting Kortra Katarina winery is the variety of food offer alongside the wines. It is a selection you are not likely to find anywhere else yet it goes down so well with the wine. Their winemaking traditions are also unique and a valuable rider for visitors to the wineries. The wine tasting events combine perfectly with the breathtaking view of the Dalmatian Coast to give you an unforgettable experience.

Milos Winery

The winery is also one of the oldest in the region and is respected for its unique tasting wines. The winery stands out among peers in the Peljesac region because of upholding the classic wine production formula. The winery uses the Plavac Mali or little blue grape to produce the uniquely flavored red wine it is famous for.

The winery is a family business run by Flano and his sons. They have preserved an age-old tradition where the taste of wine has a lot to do with its years in the factory. It ranks among the best vineyards in the world because of the use of natural yeast and typical Slavonian oak barrels. This method makes it impossible for wineries elsewhere to imitate their unique taste.

While at the vineyard, look for their signature Plavac Mali and Stagnum brands. The mountainous setting on the horizon gives you a perfect wine tasting setting that will awaken your sense of taste. If forms part of the overall wine tasting experience that is impossible to find anywhere else.

Plenkovic Winery, HVar Island

Any tourist traveling to Croatia wants to pay homage to this famous vineyard tucked somewhere on Hvar Island. The island is known as one of the sunniest parts in Europe, receiving more than 2,715 hours of sun each year. The temperatures are also among the most favorable to grow grapes.

Plenkovic winery has also won numerous awards for its winemaking formula and ability to produce the most unique tasting bottles. The area is iconic for its rolling vineyards and olive trees, giving you an unforgettable view while you sip on your glass. As you make the trip to the winery, the views are breathtaking, leaving you more thirsty and ready for what the vineyards have to off. What you get upon arrival is worth the trip. It is a wine tasting experience that you will never get anywhere else.

Visitors are introduced to exceptionally designed cellars in the picturesque countryside. The tour around the production facility is equally rewarding. It is a mindblowing journey to follow a grape from the farm until it turns into one of the tastiest wines in the world.

Stina Winery, Brac Island

Stina or whitestones is the symbol of Brac, the largest island in the Dalmatian region. The stones were used in the construction of the Diocletian Palace found in Split. Rumor also has it that the stones were exported for use in the construction of the White House in Washington, DC. That white setting raises the curtain for an unforgettable wine tasting experience in Croatia.

Brac’s whitestones have also inspired countless sculptors, poets, and painters in Croatia to sharpen their art. It is, therefore, understandable to hear that the same stones are the inspiration behind Stina Winery. The name also refers to the challenges of growing grapes on this steep terrain. However, it has one of the sweetest endings imaginable.

Stina Winery constantly reinvents itself without altering its unique taste. Recently, new grapevines were planted and the production facility renovated. To maintain the health of the grapes, cultivation is still done by hand. You identify their wines because of the unique packaging designed by Bruketa and Zinic, a celebrated Croatian design studio.

Boskinac Winery, Pac Island

Pac Island is a famous entertainment destination, hosting some of the longest-running festivals in the world. The island also features excellent dreamy beaches worth every minute you will ever spend in Croatia. The island has also made it into the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites because of its unique gastronomical offerings, including the unforgettable wines.

Boskinac Winery was built in 2000 but has transformed the wine tasting story of Croatia. The vineyard has been feted nationally and internationally for its spectacular wines. The most distinct is the coupage of merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, among other local white wine varieties.

The winery is located at a valley among pine trees, giving you a welcoming scenery that will awaken your senses. Wine tasting adds to the mouthwatering cuisine you will enjoy at the island. Visit and give your story about the eye milk cheese served with anchovies.

It is evident that Croatia loves wine and anyone who visits the country will have a unique wine-story to tell. Talk to tour experts about a wine-tasting experience in Croatia and enjoy a tour of a lifetime. This is one of the destinations you will want to return after your initial visit.

KENNETH GAMBLE & LEON HUFF: ‘YOU GOT WHAT I NEED

Click here to listen to Freddie Scott singing “You Got What I Need.”

PHILADELPHIA – Legendary Philadelphia International Records (PIR) co-founders and R&B pioneers Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff have a new commercial placement from their massive song catalogue. “YOU GOT WHAT I NEED,” which Gamble & Huff wrote and produced in 1968 for Freddie Scott – three years before launching PIR - is currently getting massive TV exposure in a new ETSY.COM commercial. Philadelphia International Records was home to The O'Jays, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, and many other acts that defined the Philadelphia soul sound of the '70s.

“Seeing the Etsy commercial featuring the song on TV so prominently, makes us instantly reflect back 52 years, when we wrote and produced the song in the studio for Freddie Scott – a great, yet unsung Soul/R&B artist and vocalist,” said Gamble & Huff in a joint statement. “We are so glad this original song and Freddie are getting their just recognition and their due.”

Usage of “YOU GOT WHAT I NEED” has proven popular for sampling in recent years. But this is the first time the original recording is anchoring a popular TV commercial in the U.S.

Rapper Biz Markie used many elements of the original recording on his 1989 hit "Just A Friend." Kanye West, Common, Pusha T and Big Sean feat. Kid Cudi and Charlie Wilson sampled the song on “Good Friday” (2010). Ghostface Killah sampled it on “Save Me Dear” (2004). And in 2017, Janelle Monáe sang “You Got What I Need” in a Gap commercial promoting their Christmas offerings

“YOU GOT WHAT NEED” originally reached #27 on the R&B chart. Scott died in 2007 at age 74.

MOST POPULAR ONLINE CASINO GAMES

New Online Casinos » Best Bonuses For Mobile Casino GamesImage: Casino News Daily

Online casinos have become rather popular in recent times with over 33.6 million active gambling accounts in the UK in 2020. This has mainly been down to the light-hearted fun they offer, a wide variety of types of games and the ease of access that they now offer in a very flooded market. Below are some of our favorite games to play in the online casino when we log on.

The most popular game in the online casino is usually Blackjack with over a half claiming that that is their go to game when they open their casino account. When you take into consideration that the chance of the dealer winning against you is much lower of that compared to other games, this is certainly a factor as to why it is the most popular. There are also the options to place side bets within the main game which make it every more inviting. If we were going to recommend a casino game, it certainly would be Blackjack.

Tempted by this list to go and give the online casinos a spin? Why not go get out these sites not blocked by Gamstop? They are offering some of the highest quality casinos online, the widest variety of games and the guarantee that your fun won’t be limited by the self-exclusion scheme Gamstop.

Next on the list of popular casino games is of course Roulette with unlike Blackjack is a game of pure chance and luck but has always been one of the most spun games in the casino. Many have played this game due to the chance of winning bigger compared to Blackjack; however, this does come with more risk as the chance of the dealer winning considerably higher when it comes to Roulette. When picking your choice of Roulette table online, make sure that the house is offering you good bonuses if your win comes in as competition is high on online casinos so they should have good deals on to entice you in. Here are some of the biggest roulette wins in history.

The final casino game that has quickly become one of the most popular is that of slot games; this is due to the colourful and fun gameplay that they offer, ease of playing meaning you don’t need much skill to be able to play, and the choice available to us gamblers is virtually endless with thousands of different variants when it comes to slots.

10 CC/GODLEY&CREME LEGEND KEVIN GODLEY RELEASES NEW VIDEO

Kevin Godley has released a new video “Expecting a Message” from his highly anticipated forthcoming solo album MUSCLE MEMORY!

“This is as DIY as it gets. No film crew, no editor, no budget. The plan was to make a film, stream of consciousness style, doing everything myself, like I’m recording music. Improvise, throw stuff in and make sense of it later and I did…all except the last bit. I guess it’s a performance film of sorts, all shot within a hundred yard radius of home and, at the risk of this sounding like a commercial, it would’ve been impossible without my iPhone X, Adobe Premier Pro and Wondershare Filmora editing software and two supremely cool apps, GlitchCam and EFEKT. Not sure if it’s the message I was expecting though.” - KG

Watch the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyxB-4jXJBk

MUSCLE MEMORY marks Kevin’s first time fronting a project. His lyricism is cutting, political and provides a mood similar to film dialogue over classic pop lyricism. Gun control, societal unrest, racism and questions regarding political correctness make for some of the most striking lyrical content likely heard on an alternative pop record. This is a dark record from someone not known for dark themes.

Kevin’s career features numerous exceptional albums and sees him as one of the most important pioneers of the pop music video. MUSCLE MEMORY is a fitting addition to this body of work, offering a provoking, daring new insight into Godley’s creative practice. Tracks from the album will be released in order every two weeks until the album's release on the 17th of December 2020.

HOW SLOT MACHINES HAVE CHANGED DUE TO THE INTERNET

It wasn’t actually that much longer than 100 years ago that a man called Charles D. Fey kicked off the modern slots industry with his Liberty Bell machine, the world’s first genuinely commercially viable slot machine. Before this there were a few rudimentary slot machines kicking about around the US, however, none of them could actually pay out any prizes, and gamblers had to claim their winnings from the bar - play here.

As you might imagine this wasn’t particularly exciting, and so it was no surprise that as soon as Mr Fey updated the old slot machines so they paid out physical coins people just couldn’t get enough. But here’s the thing: the slots industry didn’t really come into its own until the emergence of the Internet as a platform to host these games, something that well and truly changed everything.

The early days of slot machines

As we have already mentioned, if it wasn’t for a particularly innovative engineer called Charles D. Fey operating in late 1800s California we’re not sure slot machines would have ever hit the popularity that they do today, and this man was especially important in the early days of slot machines.

Back then slot machines weren’t even legal, however as soon as gambling restrictions were relaxed in America slot machines got wildly popular amongst gamblers. This can be seen the most in Las Vegas, of course, however by the mid-20th-century slot machines could be found in many places across the world.

RNGs and video slots

Obviously, slot machines were wildly popular by the 1980s, however, they still weren’t hitting anywhere near the popularity levels that they do today. This is begun to change with the invention of the RNG, or Random Number Generator. These complex pieces of computer equipment allowed for developers to use video screens for their reels, resulting in a whole load more possibilities.

You see, when the reels can be spun completely randomly on a video screen developers can immediately start adding in bonus features and other cool game mechanics – no wonder they got so popular!

The first online slots

The video slots pioneered in the 1980s paved the way for the eventual emergence of online slots, however, this could only happen after the Internet had reached a certain level of development. It was in the early 2000s that games such as Temple Of Isis by Eyecon came out, becoming the first online slots in a rich history of online slot games.

The first online slots weren’t without their faults, however, and in the beginning, the graphics and general smoothness of gameplay wasn’t the best.

The modern online slot industry

Now, the modern online slot industry has really come into its own over the last decade or so, as things such as HTML5, mobile slots and a huge increase in the number of online casino sites have resulted in a huge number of new gamblers hitting the market.

Seriously, with all the innovative and lucrative bonus features appearing nowadays it seems as though the industry is going to continue growing indefinitely!

KING OF THE AMERICAN MUSCLE CARS: THE PONTIAC GTO

Pontiac GTO 1964

The Pontiac GTO is the classic "muscle car" that was manufactured by American automaker Pontiac from the 1964 to 1974 model years, and by GM's subsidiary Holden in Australia from the 2004 to 2006 model years.

1965

In early 1963, General Motors' management banned divisions from involvement in auto racing. This followed the 1957 voluntary ban on automobile racing that was instituted by the Automobile Manufacturers Association. By the early 1960s, Pontiac's an advertising and marketing approach was heavily based on performance. With GM's ban on factory-sponsored racing, Pontiac's managers began to emphasize street performance.

In his autobiography Glory Days, Pontiac chief marketing manager Jim Wangers, who worked for the division's contract advertising and public relations agency, states that John DeLorean, Bill Collins, and Russ Gee were responsible for the GTO's creation.

Authentic 1965 Pontiac GTO Upgraded with a 389 and a Muncie Four-Speed

It involved transforming the upcoming second-generation Pontiac Tempest (which reverted to a conventional front-engine with front transmission configuration) into a sporty car, with a larger 389 cu in (6.4 L) Pontiac V8 engine from the full-sized Pontiac Catalina and Bonneville in place of the standard 326 cu in (5.3 L) V8.

By promoting the big-engine option as a special high-performance model, they could appeal to the speed-minded youth market (which had also been recognized by Ford Motor Company's Lee Iacocca, who was at that time preparing the sporty Ford Mustang variant of the second generation Ford Falcon compact). Pontiac won that race!

BINGO LINGO GUIDE: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU START

Bingo has had a wild ride since its inception in 16th century Italy, with a lottery game called “Il Gioco del Lotto d’Italia” widely being acknowledged to have set the foundations for this incredibly versatile gambling game. After this the game migrated to France under the name “Le Lotto”, as well as other Central European countries such as Germany that ended up using it for education more than anything else.

In fact, before Edwin S. Lowe, an American entrepreneur, devised the first universally applicable bingo scorecards and popularised the name “bingo”, this was a game that existed in various different shapes and sizes. Things have become more standardized since then of course, with online bingo ushering in a whole new era of popularity for this game, making it almost as popular as online slots in the 21st century. One thing that has changed dramatically after the emergence of online bingo is the bingo lingo that people use online. Read ahead for a bingo lingo guide covering all you need to know before you start at Barbados Bingo.

BRB

Those of us who are young enough to have lived through the SMS text message craze and subsequently shortened vocabulary will know exactly what BRB means, however it is definitely worth touching on for anybody who isn’t particularly well versed on the many abbreviations at play.

BRB stands for Be Right Back and is used regularly in online bingo chat rooms if you need to go to the loo or grab a refreshment. It’s not worth weeing yourself, just write BRB! WTG

Now, this is a piece of bingo lingo that is used a lot in the modern online bingo world, and also one that is fairly exclusive to online bingo chat rooms, having not really caught on in the wider world. WTF is often used in order to congratulate somebody who has just won a prize whilst playing bingo, and it is an abbreviation of the phrase “Way To Go”.

Friends will use this abbreviation to congratulate each other on bingo wins, it isn’t essential to use by any means, but it can be a nice way to show your support.

1TG

Due to the fact that online bingo is completely played on the computer, and that there is currently no online bingo chat rooms that let people communicate via video or audio link people have to do all their communicating via the keyboard, the main reason why so many instances of online bingo lingo slang exist today.

1TG is definitely one of the most exciting things to post in the chat room if you have the opportunity, because it means “One To Go”. It is used when you only have one number left before being able to scoop the jackpot, and is far from a brag. In fact, be careful with “1TG” because many experienced online bingo gamblers will be expecting to see it written in the chat before anybody hits bingo.

CHUCK YEAGER BREAKS THE SOUND BARRIER: OCT 14 1947

U.S. Air Force Captain Chuck Yeager became the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound.

Yeager, born in Myra, West Virginia, in 1923, was a combat fighter during World War II and flew 64 missions over Europe. He shot down 13 German planes and was himself shot down over France, but he escaped capture with the assistance of the French Underground. After the war, he was among several volunteers chosen to test-fly the experimental X-1 rocket plane, built by the Bell Aircraft Company to explore the possibility of supersonic flight.

For years, many aviators believed that man was not meant to fly faster than the speed of sound, theorizing that transonic drag rise would tear any aircraft apart. All that changed on October 14, 1947, when Yeager flew the X-1 over Rogers Dry Lake in Southern California

The X-1 was lifted to an altitude of 25,000 feet by a B-29 aircraft and then released through the bomb bay, rocketing to 40,000 feet and exceeding 662 miles per hour (the sound barrier at that altitude). The rocket plane, nicknamed “Glamorous Glennis” (after Yeager's wife), was designed with thin, unswept wings and a streamlined fuselage modeled after a .50-caliber bullet.

Because of the secrecy of the project, Bell and Yeager’s achievement was not announced until June 1948. Yeager continued to serve as a test pilot, and in 1953 he flew 1,650 miles per hour in an X-1A rocket plane. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 with the rank of brigadier general.

THE HISTORY OF THE PUMPKIN

 GUEST POST: GERARD PAUL ManyEats.com

The Pumpkin And Its Components

There is no wild counterpart to the field pumpkin that exists today. Today's pumpkins are byproducts of domestication and evolutionary pressure from humans – some are grown for consumption, while some are for show or even everyday use.
Family and Species

Pumpkins belong to the Cucurbitaceae family and are specifically part of the C. pepo species, full of summer and winter squashes. Gourds, spaghetti marrow, zucchini, cocozelle, squash, and Ozark melons are all just variations in this group. Some cultivars of related species – C. argyrosperma and C. moschata, for example – are known as 'pumpkins' as well. And those giant pumpkins in all the record books? They're almost always from the species C. maxima.
Colors and Sizes

Pumpkins – no matter in which species – are extremely diverse, and come in captivating colors, sizes, and shapes. Some are pale and white, like the Lumina and Casper varieties. Others are large and showy with green and orange splashes, like the Speckled Hound or the Hooligan.

The Porcelain Doll F1, a relative newcomer, is a surprising pink pumpkin while the Rouge Vif comes in vibrant red hues. In terms of size and texture, pumpkins range from small to large and can have smooth, flat, or bumpy skin. Some are enormous, thousand-pound lumpy giants (like the C. maximas mentioned!) while others can fit in my toddler's palm.

The larger ones often don't taste very sweet, while others, like the Sugar Treat pumpkin, are perfect for desserts and pumpkin pies.
Cultivation

Most pumpkins need plenty of water, sun, and nutrients in the soil to thrive and grow. But they're certainly hardy and adaptable – pumpkins grow on every continent except Antarctica.

They are relatively easy to grow and require a soil pH level between 6.0 to 6.5 for the best yield.

Pumpkins cannot grow in frosty conditions and need warmth. It takes field pumpkins between 75 - 100 days before they are ready for harvest, so it's best to plant them in the early summer.
Nutritional Value

The field pumpkin is a highly nutrient-dense food that is low in calories but rich in vitamins and minerals. Today's pumpkins' macronutrients and health benefits are pretty compelling, and it's even suitable for your pets.

Field pumpkins are nutritious, high in fiber, potassium, and riboflavin, and low in fat. They contain vitamins K, B6, C, and E, and are plentiful in beta-carotene.

On the flip side, all squashes produce biochemical compounds known as cucurbitacins. These biochemicals lend squashes a bitter flavor, and specific cultivars have more cucurbitacins than others. Overdosing on them can cause adverse GI effects and even hair loss(!), so it's best to pick a cultivar raised for eating just in case. Read Full Story Here

TODD RUNDGREN & RIVERS CUOMO TEAM UP FOR NEW SINGLE

Todd Rundgren photo credit: © Lynn Goldsmith

Los Angeles, CA - Music hipsters of the world UNITE and celebrate what is sure to be one of this year’s most talked-about musical collaborations. Multi-hyphenate Todd Rundgren, famously heralded by Rolling Stone as Rock’s Renaissance Man meets up with the equally iconoclastic Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo on “Down With The Ship,” a new song that is being released today on all digital platforms.

The duo share writing duties as well as trading vocal roles on the track, which draws inspiration from reggae and African rhythms not unlike Rundgren’s evergreen 1983 hit “Bang The Drum All Day.” Lyrically, however, the song cuts with a much sharper edge, as Rundgren puts it, “It’s just a little parable about what happens when you align yourself with a treacherous leader.”

JAZZ LEGEND GROVER WASHINGTON JR. NEW VINYL RELEASE!

Studio City, CA – Lightyear Entertainment announces that it will release a commemorative double vinyl of beloved artist Grover Washington, Jr. on Black Friday for Record Store Day.

This release marks 20 years since the passing of the immensely popular artist who was largely responsible for creating a bridge between jazz and R&B.

Grover was well loved by his fans but also by the many musicians who worked with him over the years. He was a contemporary jazz artist whose music topped the “Smooth Jazz” charts, but his sound was funky, and his music was respected in all jazz and R&B circles. His live performances and worldwide success prove that he was a timeless gem of an artist who entertained his audiences with a powerhouse band of some of the best players in the business.

This superb live recording – cut in June 1997 at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Peekskill, upstate New York – captures the essence of Grover’s greatness. With a coterie of ‘A’ class musicians in support, the legendary sax man’s work on this album demonstrates why he was not only a leader in his field but a pioneer capable of blending the subtleties of jazz with the funk and sweat of soul music.

In addition to Grover himself on tenor, soprano, alto, and baritone sax, the album features Donald Robinson on keyboards, Gerald Veasley on bass, Richard Lee Steacker on guitars, Steven Wolf on drums, and Pablo Batista on congas and percussion. It was produced by Grammy winner Jason Miles, and Executive Produced by Christine Washington, Jason Miles and Tim Ryan.

“We released a CD of these recordings in 2010, which has sold well for 10 years,” said Lightyear President Arnie Holland. “But when Grover’s family suggested we do a vinyl, we were thrilled to do it. The album was lovingly remastered for vinyl by Peter Humphreys at Masterwork, and lacquers cut by Joe Nino-Hernes at Sterling Sound. The result sounds amazing and feels like you are at the show.”

The Double Vinyl with download card is in a gatefold jacket with satin coating and metallic gold highlights. The vinyl itself is 180 Grams audiophile quality and gold metallic opaque colored vinyl was utilized, to match the gold on the cover of the album.

The album will be released on November 27 to Record Store Day retailers on an exclusive basis for 90 days, after which it will be available generally.
