We are completely saddened at the loss of our friend Detroit photographer Larry H. Leitner (Amp/Recording Tech, Photographer, Guitarist) I do not remember our first meeting..he was just there when I first began filming events in Detroit. He was so encouraging and so full of enthusiasm! We talked at gigs and he shared photography tips.

The women in Detroit rock n roll LOVED him...he took such care to make certain that everyone looked great. Larry was so considerate when photographing his subjects. Never an ambush shot from him. He truly was a fan in the most joyous sense of the word. I am not sure that Larry knew how many fans HE had! I am going to post some of the messages that are coming in on Larry's facebook page...this will be my tribute to him...

I hope he is hanging out with my pal the Madhatter and planning the next gig they are going to attend! Larry did make the world a kinder place to live and always had a smile to share with everyone he encountered. The term RIP just isn't enough for Larry...

my favorite photos Larry took of me working

R.I.P. Larry. I will never forget our first meeting at the Fillmore! I knew instantly you were a kind, gentle soul with a heart of gold. You introduced yourself, and we talked about your love for redheads!!! I smile to this day, recalling your comments. We talked about our mutual love for music and in particular, Detroit Rockers. I will forever remember our conversation then and the ones that followed in person and here on FB.

My heart goes out to your son and I pray God helps him find comfort knowing that you are in a better place. My deepest sympathy to your son, friends and family. You left quite an impression on everyone who had the privilege to know you and you will be missed by many. God Speed my friend. ♥

So sad to hear of the passing of my former coworker/Amp tech Larry H Leitner. Larry was such a good hearted guy that always had a story or a joke to tell you. My favorite memory was getting on stage with Larry last year at Gary Modlinski's birthday party and jamming "I Wanna Be Your Dog" with Larry on guitar and vocals. I'll miss him greatly. Please keep his son Steven in your thoughts and prayers. R.I.P. Larry. :(

He was one of the most supportive fans I ever had...I wish there were 100 more just like him....however, he was one of a kind....he will be greatly missed. I feel fortunate to have known him.....bye for now Larry H Leitner :(

I worked with Larry at ABL for about 7 years. He helped me out several times with difficult repairs. His knowledge of reel to reels was unsurpassed. We often talked about music and musicians and any funny pictures we found on Facebook. Everyone at ABL will miss you. R.I.P. Larry H Leitner

Rest in peace, Larry. I'm forever grateful for your kind words and friendship. The world has lost a good soul. I only wish we'd had more time to hang out and talk in person. Prayers of peace, comfort and understanding for your son and family.

R.I.P. to our friend Larry H Leitner who passed away yesterday. Larry worked for us doing amp repair at BluesAirmen Guitars for several years. Send prayers out to his son Steven who also lost his mother and Larry's wife Robin only a few short years ago as well.

I am saddened beyond words......just love for Larry, we will miss you so much...with all love for you, you were such an amazing man, full of love, adventure and passion...the world is smaller somehow right now, you opened up your heart and your soul of love to us, with your photography, with your music, with your life - with your self - and your excitement and adventure, a true friend, too (:

I just found out Larry Leitner, a great friend and photographer of the Detroit Music Scene, passed away from a stroke. He photographed a huge part of the Detroit scene over the years and left behind a vast photo collection of Detroit music and art events. To us Larry, you won't ever die. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Larry, and all his friends and family!

It's hard to believe this. Larry I wish we could have shared that stroll thru Greenfield Village. You were always willing to go that extra mile for all you loved. Your will be missed so much. you were that "go to guy" that we could always count on. I have all the inbox messages to cherish as memories now you have left us too soon.
You won't be forgotten ever by all of us you touched.
It's a shock to hear this and God now has you eternally my friend. Rest well sweet Larry.
