TV LEGEND MARY TYLER MOORE DIED TODAY

Sad news today, one of our very favorite television stars, Mary Tyler Moore, has died at age 80. She discovered that she had Type 1 Diabetes while filming her show in the 1970's. Recently she had a terrible time managing her illness.

“Mary Tyler Moore passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine,” her longtime publicist Mara Buxbaum said in a statement.

Moore, who had struggled with health problems including diabetes, was reportedly hospitalized in Connecticut for the past several days.

Mary first tv series was as Laura on the “The Dick Van Dyke Show” from 1961-66, joining an ensemble cast on the show created by comedy genius Carl Reiner, and then as star Mary Richards in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” from 1970-77. She was fabulous as the anti hero/conflicted Mother in the acclaimed film Ordinary People. Mary was in many comedy films over the years, even one with Elvis!. RIP Mare you had spunk! We loved spunk!
