Today we honor the United States military members who received the Purple Heart after being wounded or killed in service to our country. #PurpleHeartDay
During the American Revolutionary War, the Badge for Military Merit decorated six known soldiers.

Purple Heart Day on August 7 commemorates the creation of the oldest American military decoration for military merit, the Purple Heart and honors the men and women who are of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

FULL AUGUST STURGEON MOON 8-7-17

Some Native American tribes called the August Moon the “Sturgeon Moon” because they knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this Full Moon. They also called August’s Moon the “Full Green Corn Moon.”

Ringo celebrated his birthday July 7 at Capitol Records with a special salute to "Peace & Love" with family, friends and fans. The same day, Ringo also revealed details of his 19th solo album, Give More Love, which will be released by UMe on digital and CD formats on September 15, 2017, with vinyl to follow on September 22, 2017.

Recorded at Ringo’s home studio in Los Angeles, Give More Love has 10 new tracks featuring collaborations with friends including: We’re on the Road Again featuring Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter, Steve Lukather; Laughable co-written and performed with Peter Frampton as well as Benmont Tench, Timothy B. LOS ANGELES – AUGUST 4, 2017 – In celebration of the late, great Louis Armstrong’s 116th birthday today, Verve Records/UMe have released the digital collection, The Complete Decca Singles 1935-1946.

Bringing together every single and B-side Pops released during his first decade on Decca Records. Totaling 136 tracks – with many available digitally for the first time – the comprehensive collection is now on all digital retailers and streaming services just as the annual music extravaganza Satchmo SummerFest gets underway in New Orleans’ historic French Quarter for three days and nights of contemporary and traditional jazz in honor of the legendary trumpet player and singer.

The Complete Decca Singles 1935-1946

A prequel to The Complete Decca Singles 1949-1958 issued at the end of 2016, the new collection is comprised of six digital volumes with the tracks (A-side/B-side) in chronological order by original release date. Representing an overview of Armstrong’s highly prolific period recording for Decca Records, The Complete Decca Singles illuminates a time when Satchmo was developing a clear vocal and scatting style and and his trumpet playing was second to none.
Of note, three-quarters of this collection has been properly pitch-corrected for the first time ever, a cause for joy for practicing trumpet players (and singers) all over the world.

Upon signing to the recently formed U.S. Decca label in 1935, Armstrong quickly scored a hit with “I’m in the Mood for Love” and it’s that song that appropriately begins the sprawling set. Many of his other hits are represented throughout including, “When The Saints Go Marching In,” “Public Melody Number One,” “Swing That Music,” and “Struttin’ With Some Barbecue,” as well as several notable collaborations like Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald’s first-ever duets, “You Won't Be Satisfied (Until You Break My Heart)” and “The Frim Fram Sauce,” and his duet with Bing Crosby, “Pennies From Heaven,” the title track of the 1936 film they starred in together.

During this fertile decade, Armstrong recorded in a wide variety of settings, including big bands, small ensembles and pairings with the likes of Jimmy Dorsey and the Mills Brothers, and the material here encapsulates this creative wanderlust and evolution. The songs range from early jazz, big band swing, ragtime and Dixieland, to the novelty Polynesian sounds of the day and even spoken word. Regardless of genre, it’s Armstrong’s remarkable trumpet playing and trademark gravelly tenor that are always front and center, making these songs unmistakably the work of the one and only, Louis Armstrong.

I just loved Narcos season 1 and 2 insanely! Here is a bit of information for the Narcos fans out there!

What will Narcos look like in a post-Pablo Escobar world? Fans will find out when the Netflix drama returns on Friday, Sept. 1.

In Season 3, DEA agent Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) turns his attention to the Cali Cartel. “Led by four powerful godfathers, this cartel operates much differently than Escobar’s, preferring to bribe government officials and keep its violent actions out of the headlines,” the official logline reads.

Halt and Catch Fire‘s Kerry Bishé joins the cast for Season 3 as Christina Jurado, wife to cartel money launderer Franklin Jurado (played by Sense8‘s Miguel Angel Silvestre).
