EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE PURCHASING CBD
Cannabidiol (or CBD) has recently gotten great attention for its beneficial characteristics for health and wellness, the treatment of several physical and mental conditions, as well as skin and hair care, just to name a few. Now that many people want to try it and reap the benefits, the variety of CBD products available on the market reflects the reality of how wide the range really is. In this article, we'll try to provide you with a little guide of what to know before actually making your purchase.
Why You’re Taking It Determines the Form You’re Buying
Studies have shown that CBD can be used to reduce some forms of anxiety, like social anxiety, PTSD, and others. Additionally, just as CBD is used to relax the nerves, it has been shown to promote better sleep at night and wakefulness during the daytime. If chronic anxiety or stress are your challenges, then taking it in the form of tinctures, capsules, and gummies would be a good idea. Tinctures are taken sublingually to provide fast results and are available in a wide range of concentrations. Meanwhile, some prefer using capsules or gummies for an easy-to-measure daily dose with long-lasting effects.
On the other hand, topical applications and CBD oil are considered great options for treating pain and inflammation. While the oil can provide full-body relief, topical products are more specific when applied directly to problem areas.
Know Your CBD Concentration for Proper Dosing
Just like any active ingredients, the higher the concentration, the higher the amount you’ll get per dose, and the faster you’ll feel the cumulative effects. Knowing that it’s common for products to contain anywhere from 200 mg to 1,000 mg of CBD per serving, your label should always state how much CBD is in there for you to be able to arrange for your dose.
Always Check the THC Content (Or Lack Thereof)Tetrahydrocannabinol, more commonly known as THC, is the psychoactive cannabinoid in the cannabis plant; it’s what gets you high.
While both CBD and THC come from the same plant, not everyone who wants to use CBD wants to get high. That said, if CBD oil is processed poorly, or not lab-tested before bottling, it could contain more than 0.03% THC, which is the maximum amount that can exist in legal CBD products. That’s why it’s always good to check that the CBD product you are purchasing clearly states that it contains less than 0.03% THC.
Verify Third-Party Lab Testing
In order to verify CBD and THC levels, as well as the purity of your product, a trusted supplier will provide lab-testing results for the batch of CBD you are purchasing. This is important for people with compromised immune systems, as lab tests usually look for pesticides, bacteria, fungus, heavy metals, foreign matter, and residual solvents.
While CBD can be found in many forms (capsules, drops, gum, vape oil, edibles, beverages, skin lotions, shampoos, and wax), it also comes from many suppliers and brands. The whole process of buying can get overwhelming and confusing, so we hope that this article gave you some guidelines to follow when purchasing your product.

KIMMER AND MOM'S BUS TRIP TO LELAND MICHIGAN 9-21-19
My Mom invited me to go on a day trip to Leland, Michigan with the Westminster Presbyterian church group from Harrisville, Michigan. An 11 hour trip by bus! The folks on the bus played Bus Bingo all the way! I love Bingo so it was a great distraction. Church organizers went all out to make this trip fun for all of us. Thanks so much to the ladies who entertained us all. Special thanks to Linda Knight, her helpers and Faye the Bingo caller!

Leland, Michigan is located in Leland Township, which provides local government services. It is on M-22, at the mouth of the Leland River (also known as the Carp River) on Lake Michigan.
Leland is the departure point for ferry service to both North and South Manitou Islands. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is nearby and Traverse City is about 25 miles to the southeast. Leaving Leland, going south on M-22, there is a sign that reads "45th Parallel Halfway Between the Equator and the North Pole."
Mom and pal Sandy Young
The settlement was called Mishi-me-go-bing, meaning "the place where canoes run up into the river to land, because they have no harbor" or alternatively Che-ma-go-bing or Chi-mak-a-ping.
Fishtown is home to a working fishery and a thriving charter fishing business. The riverfront is lined by a boardwalk and quaint shacks that have been converted into tourist shops.
Around 1900, wealthy individuals from Chicago, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and other Midwestern industrial centers began to visit Leland and build summer cottages, arriving by Lake Michigan passenger steamer or by Lake Leelanau steamer from the railhead near Traverse City. This led to the construction of resort hotels, and the growth of Leland as a summer resort.
The Cove restaurant is located above and below the Leland Dam at the head of Leland's Historic Fishtown overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan and the Manitou Islands.
There was a car show going on that day and we saw a cool Amphibious car coming out of Lake Michigan!

Cha-Cha and her fun sister Ilene were my favorite bus mates on the trip to Leland!

BIGGEST BUST UP MOMENTS IN MODERN DAY POKER
Poker is a gentlemen’s game. Whether you are a gracious loser or a humble winner, Poker etiquette is important in all corners of the world. Unfortunately, not everyone receives this memo and, what’s worse is that some of those people are professionals. Becoming a professional poker player takes a long time, with a lot of practice, so you would think that everyone at the top of the game would have some respect for it. Some players are notorious for having these moments, especially Phil ‘The Poker Brat’ Hellmuth, who we will no doubt see appear on this list.
The issue with Poker etiquette is that few rules surround it. If you want to be rude you can, there’s nothing about the rules of the game that stop you. Let’s be honest though being known as ‘The Poker Brat’ isn’t the best image for a professional.
When a Poker player is exceptionally rude in a tournament, there are two opinions – it’s either funny or rude. Ultimately they’re all rude, but sometimes it’s easier to laugh than cry at the attitudes of some of the players. Here’s a list of some of the rudest moments in modern-day professional Poker.
Justin Schwartz
In 2015, at the World Series of Poker Main Event, there was a rather large heated incident. The WSOP Main Event is the biggest global stage of Poker, the entire gambling industry is watching. The Main Event is where players can win millions of dollars, so it’s understandable why many players become passionate.
A rather memorable moment, especially for Joe McKeehan, was when Justin Schwartz came at him with a mouthful of verbal abuse. On the 7th seventh day of the Main Event, Schwartz and McKeehan alongside Alexander Turyansky were in a game together. With the hole cards a 2, 3 and 6, McKeehan had a favorable hand of two 6s (Schwartz with two 3s and Turyansky with two Queens). Schwartz held out for the call, where McKeehan turned over his two sixes cards and claimed victory.
Schwartz reacted very badly, first announcing that McKeehan was the “most disgusting human being ever” before delivering multiple ‘F-bombs’. Daniel Negreanu, who Schwartz had a spat with earlier that day was grinning in the background before Schwartz went on to announce that ‘he doesn’t do handshakes’ – possibly one of the rudest remarks to make in Poker!
Tony G
Antanas Guoga, also known as ‘Tony G’ in the Poker world, is without a doubt a must-mention on this list. His character is dominant at any table, he’s loud and abrasive, but you can always rely on him to put on a great show – win or lose.
This particular account of Tony G is when he played against the Russian, Ralph Perry. As soon as the hand is was dealt, Tony G is claiming claims that Perry has a weak hand, predicting his every move, call or raise but in the same breath calling the clock. The rude and abrasive actions are dominating the hand, but it is only after all the river cards are revealed, that Tony G shows his true colours.
The first thing he does after he wins is stand up and yell “Come on, Russian, get out! It’s time to go.” Bouncing around the table, looking at Perry’s hand telling him “You are a professional player, and I can do this to you. You are a terrible player, this is disgraceful.” You can watch the video here, but it’s a tad cringe to watch!
Phil Hellmuth
The ‘Poker Brat’ has had far too many accounts of ‘blowing up’ at Poker tournaments to count. Whether he’s angry at the cards he’s been dealt, the tournament itself or his competitors, Phil Hellmuth always finds something or someone to blame for his defeats.
Our personal favorite is his blow out on Season One of Poker After Dark. Shawn Sheikhan, Gus Hansen, Huck Seed, Annie Duke, Steve Zolotow and Hellmuth all sit around the table. It’s time for Hellmuth to make a decision, and he’s thinking. The others around the table are talking, which is where the issues start for Hellmuth.
After demanding that Sheikhan ‘shut up’, Hellmuth is taunted by Seed, saying the words “Please shut up so I can talk.” The table erupts with laughter and Hellmuth’s toys fly out of their pram. There are multiple ‘F-bombs’ as well as threats to walk off the show, demanding there should be consequences for talking during important moments of someone’s turn. The whole fiasco is intense, with everyone laughing and having fun whilst Hellmuth is not in the mood for jokes. We couldn’t help but laugh along too!
Of course, there are many times the Hellmuth has lost his rag, too many to count. Let us know your biggest favourite bust-up in Poker history in the comments below. although we think we’ll be sticking to some calmer games such as Roulette. Find the best roulette odds from PP and spin the wheel in a calm and more relaxing atmosphere environment.

FRIENDS, THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF A SHOW FULL OF ANACHRONISMS
When we talk about Friends, a lot of people, may go and say that it was the best Sitcom ever, and it was indeed, something else. After 10 seasons and 236 episodes, David Crane and Marta Kauffman’s creation did mark more than one generation.
But for some Boomers, the series is not more than something we all have to trash, being more homophobic and racist than we all remember it to be, as said by the controversial Vox, but is this an anachronism?
For those of you who don’t know, here’s the definition (idea or object that don’t belong to an specific time period as it is judging Friends with today’s standards). And we must say that the answers to those questions are tricky, but also quite simple, yes, to both of them. It wasn’t very inclusive, and yes, it is an anachronism.
Things have changed during the last 25 years and must of them for good. Society was not inclusive at all back then, although it may not seem to be really good now, we have indeed evolved a lot.
CONGRATULATIONS “FRIENDS”
This last Sunday marked the show’s 25th anniversary, and during a commemoratory event, both creators Kauffman and Crane ruled out the possibility of a reunion. Crane argued that “we did the show we wanted to do, we got it right and put a bow on it”.
Kauffman also commented “The show was about that time in life when friends are your family,” said Kauffman. And that a reunion or anything like that “It’s not going to beat what we did.”
The cast also played with the reminiscence, posting a couple of photos, Courtney Cox (Monica Geller) captioned the photo with “Celebrating a Thursday night 25 years ago.
Thank you to all of our loyal fans across the world. You’ve certainly been there for us”. Tagging Le Blanc, Schwimmer and Kudrow, and using the hashtags jokingly towards Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry.
David Schwimmer, A.K.A Paleontologist Ross Geller, also posted a group photo “Big love to the other 5 friends.” Matt Le Blanc, who played Joey Tribbiani, posted the same image saying that the show “Still seems like yesterday”. And Lisa Kudrow, Phoebe Buffay herself, went with a more profound “We might be in different places, but we are connected.”
An unexpected guest joined the party, and it was no-other than Cole Sprouse, who played charismatic Ross’s son Ben. The Friend’s official Instagram account posted the photo of the now 27-year-old actor next to his character’s lovely penguin toy, Hugsy sitting on the iconic Friend’s sofa. With the heartwarming caption “The One Where Ben Grew Up. @colesprouse #FRIENDS25.”
WHY IS IT AN ANACHRONISM?
As we said, this issue was brought up by Vox, establishing the things that were not up to today’s standards. It’s good that they clarified things have changed a lot. They mentioned several topics that were mistreated during the show’s 10 years of production.
For example, Friends was not that friendly towards the LGBTQ community, they were not aggressive, but they did portray what a lot of people felt or seemed to feel about the collective a long time ago. Little details as Susan and Carol’s lesbian wedding with no kiss, to Chandler’s dad treatment as a person, mainly called a crossdressing male, when in reality was a trans woman.
The other thing was the absence of non-white characters, we had to wait until the 9th season to see an African American character of certain relevance. It was Charlie Wheeler, played by Aisha Tyler, who dated both Ross and Joey, at different times, during 9 episodes. Let’s take into consideration the series was based in New York - for context’s sake.
It’s also worth mentioning the fat-Monica bits, where she did make a fool of herself, portraying her as a fat cartoon character that would dance around to disco music with donuts in her hands. By today standards it would likely be called fat shaming.
The fact that Friends was not politically correct, and that it isn’t up to today’s standards it’s just normal and logical with the evolution of society. We’re not saying it’s good that in the ‘90s people were closed-minded, it certainly was not.
Still, it’s a way to see how far we’ve come, how we’ve done it, and what’s left for us to evolve as a society. Let’s remind ourselves comedy is about making people laugh, not to offend them, and we all can learn from these mistakes or examples. Take a look at sports and how the worst teams of NFL try to come back after a bad season.
