THE WHITE HOUSE HOLIDAY TOUR OF DECORATIONS AND DESIGNS FOR 2018

USA TODAY First lady Melania Trump gave former first lady Laura Bush a tour of the buzzed-about White House Christmas decorations that sparked negative reactions on social media last week.

Former First Lady Laura Bush toured the White House Christmas display.

Trump's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told USA TODAY the visit happened in private. No other details were provided.

President Donald Trump tweeted earlier Tuesday that Mrs. Bush, who is in Washington for the state funeral of her father-in-law, former President George H.W. Bush, would visit.

Melania first unveiled the White House Christmas decor last week, which includes a hall of crimson trees in the East Wing without any ornaments and a wreath made out of sharpened "Be Best" pencils, in honor of her anti-bullying campaign.

According to a press release from the first lady, this year's Christmas theme is "American Treasures," which has the White House shining "with the spirit of patriotism." READ MORE

In its second breath of life, Steve and Brian now take " Victory" on a coast-to-coast tour. Their updated soldiers have been given new powers and armor to spread his wish for mending the universe. Now you, too, can find peace and healing with help from Victory.

After you get over that initial shock... then you move into the genius of it... fashioned into these gigantic totems that make the world stand up and be counted, they make us look.

This is a metaphor that says there is a solution to the world problems we have... these broken pieces can be fixed and repaired and formulated into a whole recognizable body.

That's what's so powerful about this exhibit.

Today the LA-via-Brooklyn trio DREAMERS released their official video for their single "SCREWS," which is currently #32 on Alt Radio. The visual, directed by lead singer Nick Wold and shot by Ben Zucker, features cameos from some of the band's friends and co-creators in the alternative music scene - Gnash, Papa Roach,The Griswolds, Joywave, The Wrecks, Steve Aiello, tour mates morgxn, Weathers and Rad Horror, and industry icons such as Matt Pinfield and Allison Hagendorf.

"We feel a sense of an amazing alt scene taking place in LA right now. There is a community of alternative artists and songwriters from all over the country living here, and a super positive collaborative spirit. There are bands, songwriters, producers and people in every branch of the industry and everyone is writing together, recording together, and touring together. Ever since we moved here it was apparent that everybody just wants everybody to succeed and make great music. It reminds me of our own mini version of the Seattle grunge scene in the 90s, or New York CBGB revival in the early 2000s.

In the "SCREWS" video, we just wanted to show that to the world. We made it over the course of 4 nights driving around and just hanging out with our friends, tour-families and co-conspirators of alternative music."

JAMES BAY UNVEILS ACOUSTIC VERSION OF “JUST FOR TONIGHT”

NEW YORK, NY (August 24, 2018) — Three-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multiplatinum singer-songwriter James Bay shares an acoustic version of his latest single “Just For Tonight” (Acoustic) today.

Continuing a long tradition of soulful and stirring acoustic anthems, the troubadour stripped the song down to its essentials: just guitar and vocals. This sparse arrangement illuminates the power of his instantly recognizable voice and emotionally charged lyrics.

As a youngster growing up in Southport, Merseyside, Marc Almond was immersed in the magical world of the 3-minute single. Tuning in to Radio Caroline, Radio Luxembourg and a weekly fix of Top Of The Pops acted as catalysts for the aspiring singer’s dreams and ambitions.

WISHBONE ASH NEW FALL ROAD WARRIOR TOUR!

Danbury, CT - Wishbone Ash, one of the most influential guitar bands in the history of rock, returns to these shores in September with the Road Warriors North American Tour. The tour begins in Colorado and moves eastward through the month, passing through 12 states and Ontario, Canada. Longtime fans and new converts alike will revel in the group’s signature twin-guitar mastery and powerhouse rhythm section as they present classics spanning their career and showcase selections from their latest studio release, “Blue Horizon.”

True road warriors, each year Wishbone Ash logs around 30,000 miles, roughly equivalent to circumnavigating the earth; but this year may just set an all-time record with a series of July performances in South Africa. “We are looking forward to reconnecting with fans from the past who are just catching on that we've been touring non-stop for 46 years, to see and hear how we’ve grown while carrying the torch,” says founding member Andy Powell “And for our faithful fans who have walked with us consistently through the years, we have some special things in store to reach new heights in our relationship.”

The Road Warriors North American Tour also comes on the heels of two live recording projects in May, including a direct-to-vinyl performance at renowned Metropolis Studios complex in London slated for a fall release, expected to be available on both vinyl and CD. “Recording live in a studio and going straight to acetate is rarely done,” says Powell. “The conditions have to be just right, because you only get one shot. Everything has to be in sync.”

Immediately following the Metropolis session, the band did a three-day residency at Le Triton Theatre in Les Lilas, Paris that was recorded for a DVD release in October. Powell says, “We recorded three nights of material, including current versions of some classic songs, plus some deep tracks that people won't necessarily expect.”

Formed in 1969, Wishbone Ash is led by Powell on guitar and vocals, trading licks with Finnish guitar master Muddy Manninen. Bassist Bob Skeat, an 18-year veteran of the band, sets the pace with Joe Crabtree, one of the best of Britain’s new breed of drummers whose performance credits include Pendragon and David Cross of King Crimson.

Through the years the band has delved into various musical genres, from folk, blues and jazz to pedal-to-the-metal rock and electronica. Whatever the style, Wishbone Ash’s hallmark is the distinctive twin-melodic lead guitar interplay that has influenced such bands as Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Maiden and, more recently, Opeth. Wishbone Ash has to its credit 24 original studio recordings, 11 live albums and five live DVDs along with a DVD rockumentary (“This is Wishbone Ash”).

In 2014, the band released “Blue Horizon” (Solid Rockhouse Records) to international acclaim. Praised for its stylistic variety and powerful performances, the album features guest artist, Ireland’s Pat McManus, on fiddle for two tracks. “Blue Horizon” also includes two songs written by Aynsley Powell (Andy Powell’s son) and one by former Wishbone Ash guitarist Roger Filgate.

According to Powell, the album’s diversity reflects the culmination of several factors. “The band basically lives together year-round, so we have a very strong level of communication that translates in our performances and recordings,” he says. “We’ve come to an era where the industry has to pigeonhole a band as Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Heritage Rock and so on. The truth is that we have always kept our options open and always relied on the musicianship of the players to lead the way. It’s fun to be stylistically diverse and this has, in its way, contributed to our longevity.”

Powell has been working on his autobiography, “Eyes Wide Open: True Tales of a Wishbone Ash Warrior,” which is slated for October publication and will be available through Amazon. “It’s quite an undertaking to put 46 years of being a touring musician in this one band into book form,” he says. “I’ve seen a lot of changes in the music business and the world in general, as you can imagine.”

No strangers to worldwide success, Sultan + Shepard’s discography makes for an impressive read. ROCK SAX LEGEND PHIL KENZIE FROM THE BEATLES AND EAGLES TOUR /NEW RELEASE!

Rock Sax Legend From The Beatles to The Eagles, Phil Kenzie Tours to Save Our R&R Sax Solo and Releases New Album

The Last Of The Great Rock Sax Players Phil Kenzie! Saxophonist With The Beatles, John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Al Stewart, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, The Eagles and many Others!

Nashville, TN - With the recent passing of Bobby Keys, the last of the legendary rock sax players still remains - Phil Kenzie! Phil has the great distinction of playing sax on The Beatles legendary 'Let It Be' album! Along with The Beatles, Phil's impressive resume includes recording sessions and tours with such iconic music groups and artists as John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, The Eagles and many others. It's easy to be familiar with Phil Kenzie's superb sax work.

Just recall the soaring solos on Al Stewart's “Year of the Cat” or “Time Passages” still enjoying favored airplay to this day, or the punchy brass intro to “Jet” by Paul McCartney, or the inspired solo on “The Long Run” from “The Eagles Live” album. In fact, this gifted sax player/arranger has lent his masterful touch to hits by everyone from Rod Stewart to Jackson Browne, Stevie Nicks and Rosanne Cash to David Bowie, and in the process amassed some nineteen gold and platinum albums! Phil also holds the world record for the highest note ever played on Alto Sax on a solo on a top ten hit record (entry note on the first solo on “Time Passages” by Al Stewart).

A documentary of Phil's incredible musical journey is in progress and is 99% finished. With 120 minutes in length, it is produced by Harry Jarvis an Independent video producer from Nashville TN.

Phil relates, “I'm originally from the Liverpool area in England and in my first band, The Pressmen, I played many of the clubs made legendary by The Beatles, even occasionally sharing billing with the 'Fab Four', including The Cavern and Hamburg's famous Star Club. So it was totally appropriate that I should be asked later to play on the most classic 'swan song' of the century, 'Let It Be'.

This connection continued with my work on recordings for Apple Records, most notably John and Yoko's 'Plastic Ono Band' at Lennon's home in Ascot and all of the horn section work and solos on George Harrison’s 'All Things Must Pass' and playing in the massive sax section on 'Jet' for Paul McCartney and Wings. Through these sessions, I also worked with such notable stars as Eric Clapton, Steven Stills, Peter Frampton, Delaney & Bonnie, Leon Russell, Doris Troy and Billy Preston.

“As a session man, I was doing gigs around London with Manfred Mann's 'Chapter Three', arranging and performing shows for Jack Good's psychedelic update of Othello entitled 'Catch My Soul', finding time to appear on Paul McCartney's 'Band On The Run' album and to be heavily involved in the hit cult classic 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', playing and recording both the show and the movie; supplying the screaming rock sax for Meatloaf's portrayal of 'Eddie'.

During this time I also worked with Alan Parsons, David Essex, Joan Armatrading, Ian Gillan, Alex Harvey, Leo Sayer, Black Sabbath, Steve Harley, Marc Bolan, Wishbone Ash, Annie Lennox, David Bowie, The Coasters, The Temptations, Arthur Connolly, Mick Ronson, Ian Hunter and Roger Daltrey appearing on his 'Ride a Rock Horse' and 'One Of The Boys' albums and on both David Bowie's 'Diamond Dogs' album and his wildly inventive television special 'The 1980 Floor Show'.

At this point I was asked by Alan Parsons to record what would become a legendary hit 'Year of The Cat' by Al Stewart. In the subsequent tour of America and another hit for Al, 'Time Passages', I caught the attention of Rod Stewart and was asked to join his band, recording with Rod what would turn out to be his biggest album to date 'Blondes Have More Fun'. I would ultimately appear on five albums for Rod including 'Footloose and Fancy Free', 'Foolish Behaviour', 'Rod Stewart Truly Live' and 'Greatest Hits'.”

Now, much to the excitement of his fans worldwide, Phil is releasing a CD titled 'A Night With The Cat'. The album, recorded between 1998 and 2008, has never been released before and is an instrumental depiction of the lyrics/story of “The Year Of The Cat” hit single by Al Stewart, in which Phil plays the world acclaimed hit saxophone solo. Titles on Phil's new CD reflect the lyrics of the song. Phil is backed on 'A Night With The Cat' by Peter White “king of the soft jazz charts”and legendary session players Bob Babbitt and Larry Knechtal.

Says Phil, “The album's listed producers are Phil Kenzie and Michael Snow and the album was recorded partially in Los Angeles and partially in Nashville Tennessee. It was done in my personal recording studios using analog and digital methodology and myself being the recording, mixing and mastering engineer. I am Industry recognized in these fields.

My daughter Anna Pauline Kenzie did all the hand drawn and digitally colored artwork for the CD sleeve which is exceptional. Apart from both composition and musical artistic performances by current top 'Soft Jazz' star Peter White. There are what well might be the final recording performances from two of the biggest iconic pop/rock session artists of our age, Bob Babbitt ( Motown, “Poppa Was A Rolling Stone” etc) and Larry Knechtel (Bread, The Wrecking Crew, “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” etc.). These two legends both passed away in recent years. The album contains a composition and a performance by Larry called 'Amazing' which I co-wrote with him.”

In support of his new CD release, plans for Phil's S.O.S.S (Save Our Sax Solo) tour is currently in the works. The show will premier at Jazziz Nightlife on Jan 15th, 2015 in Boca Raton, Florida.

Lucca took a no-nonsense approach in the studio while recording his 8th studio album. Favoring guitars and acoustic drums over synths or electronic beats, the resulting sound is reminiscent of Kings of Leon or early Maroon 5 - organic, driving, and genuine. 

In his own words, “We went in with the intention of making a record that was as live-sounding as possible. I wanted to close my eyes and be able to visualize the players in the room or up on the stage, actually playing the songs together. One guitar over here, the other guy over there, bass, drums, some keys? I mean, that’s the rock-n-roll I fell in love with when I was a kid.”

RAUL MIDON NEW RELEASE AND TOUR DATES!

Raul Midón's new album Don't Hesitate is out now via Mack Avenue's Artistry Records imprint. The album first premiered in The Wall Street Journal who said, "The album is a mix of sounds and styles, from the dusty southwestern feel of opener 'Libertad' to the folk-pop number 'Time Machine' to the Spanish-language reminiscence 'Mi Amigo Cubano,' a collaboration between Midón and the soul musician Bill Withers that features dazzling guitar leads from Midón."

Referring to the album's title track, Guitar World writes, "Midón’s skilled musicianship and silky vocal delivery shine on this track, and the entire album for that matter. With a Latin rhythmic backbone, pop sensibility and extremely solid guitar playing, Midón’s writing and production on this album are truly excellent."

Soultracks writes of Midón's impressive talents on display throughout Don't Hesitate, "Raul Midon has a gift that goes beyond his skills as a vocalist, lyricist and guitarist and his ability to transform his voice into a trumpet."

Midón recently traveled to WBUR's studios in Boston to record an interview and performance for NPR's national program Here and Now. Host Jeremy Hobson spoke with Raul about his unique playing style as well as the challenges he overcame to record Don't Hesitate himself. Listen to the segment here.

Don't Hesitate is a musical and personal milestone for the soulful and virtuosic multi-instrumentalist. Despite being blind since birth, Midón took control of every aspect of the album's recording process. The artist cut all of the tracks in his home studio, playing most of the instruments himself and handling all of the project's technical elements on his own, utilizing special computer software that enabled him to engineer the sessions. The result is a vibrant and compelling album that clearly reflects Midón's unique musical character.

The meteoric rise of Kansas City Alt Rock group Alice Sweet Alice (ASA) continues as Harrah’s VooDoo lounge approached the band to headline on their legendary stage this September 5th, 2014. The last appearance by Alice Sweet Alice at Harrah’s Voodoo was to share the stage with 90’s hitmakers “Collective Soul”, when both bands played to an enthusiastic, packed house of over 1300 fans.

COLONY HOUSE DEBUT LP ZIPPING UP THE CHARTS

 

The Nashville rock trio Colony House released their debut album When I Was Younger on July 22, 2014 via Descendent Records (The Lone Bellow) to raving reviews. Managed by Missing Piece Group's Mike Krumper, the album charted #3 on Billboard Heatseekers Chart, #7 on the iTunes Alternative Rock Charts, and their single “Silhouettes” continues to be the #1 played track on SiriusXM’s Alt Nation with 50 spins per week. “Silhouettes” is also the most downloaded song by SiriusXM AltNation listeners from the SXM site and is spinning on Alternative radio stations across the nation in Portland, Albany, Colorado Springs, and more.

On the heels of the debut release and single success, the band announces the second leg of their U.S. tour that will hit over 20 cities throughout the fall. Colony House will be touring with Knox Hamilton, an Arkansas based band who are also receiving heavy play on Alt Nation. “We couldn’t be happier with the response we’ve gotten about the album,” says lead singer / guitarist Caleb Chapman. “It was a true labor of love but honestly, nothing is better than playing these songs live.”

Chapman writes effortlessly infectious tunes that resonate with personal experience and emotional depth. The songs' messages of hope and perseverance are matched by the organic musical rapport of Caleb and his bandmates, brother Will Chapman on drums and Scott Mills on lead guitar and harmony vocals.

"Creating this record had such a strong set of contrasting emotions: joy, hope, frustration, sorrow, uncertainty, confidence," says lead singer / songwriter Caleb Champan. "The songs I write have always come from deep places, whether they're deep places of joy or deep places of hurt, and it can be hard inviting people into those places with you.”

This July, both MUSTERED COURAGE and their second album POWERLINES will trade Australian winters for American summers. On July 22, 2014, these Bluegrass boys from Down Under will be releasing Powerlines in the US via Travianna Records to coincide with an American tour. Kicking off on July 24 in Cambridge, MA, the tour will be punctuated with several festivals, including Shangri-La Fest (Clarks Grove, MN) and the IBMA Bluegrass Ramble in Raleigh, NC, in which they'll share the stage with Emmylou Harris, Split Lip Rayfield, and Willie Watson of Old Crow Medicine Show, among others.

Despite calling Australia their home, when it comes to their music, Mustered Courage is American as apple pie and as bluegrass as the benches in the 'Mother Church of Country Music' - The Ryman. The band's impeccable ability smudges the lines between Alison Krauss and The Avett Brothers, finding a kinship closer to Nashville than Melbourne. This is never more prevalent than on Powerlines' US-exclusive track "Rosa," which features Kasey Chambers and accompanies the 12 original tracks from the 2013 Australian release. Good news for all of us Aretha Franklin fans! Aretha has lost 85 lbs, taken classes to conquer her fear of flying which kept her from touring, and starts a new tour tomorrow!

Aretha was interviewed by USA TODAY and talks about all the positive changes she is making at age 72. Ms Franklin has had some difficult undisclosed health issues in the recent past but is much better now. We wish her all the best with her new shows!
