Actor Kirk Douglas and Kennedy in 1961
We lucky Detroit kids grew up watching Bill Kennedy at the Movies. He was funny in a campy sort of way. It was a show my Nanna and I could both watch together...good memories
Willard "Bill" Kennedy (June 27, 1908 – January 27, 1997) was an American actor, voice artist, and host of the long-running Detroit-based television show, Bill Kennedy at the Movies. He began his career as a staff announcer in radio; Kennedy's voice narrates the opening of the television series Adventures of Superman.
Detroit's own BILL KENNEDY was reportedly paid $350 to do the opening "Faster than a speeding bullet..." narration for the 1950s SUPERMAN TV show.
Just one of several clips you will see at Saturday's TRIBUTE TO BILL KENNEDY AT THE MOVIES, dedicated to Detroit's legendary movie host. Showtimes 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets $5 at www.redfordtheatre.com. BUY TICKETS HERE
