Todd Rundgren To Launch Live Virtual Television Series “The Todd's Honest Truth”

Todd Rundgren, dubbed “Rock's Renaissance Man” in 1972 by Rolling Stone, will be premiering his bi-weekly live interactive virtual television series “The Todd's Honest Truth” on his 72nd birthday, June 22, 2020 at 6pm PDT/9PM EDT. A new episode will then go live every other Friday beginning July 3 in the same time slot.

Famously outspoken and opinionated (he was among one of Bill Maher's most frequent guests on the original “Politically Incorrect”), Rundgren will host the show live from his Kauai property, interlaced with his throwing to pre-recorded packages shot in front of a green screen to provide mood-appropriate settings (a recurring segment dubbed “The Word of Todd”, in which he will be waxing eloquent on any number of topics).

He will also be answering audience questions in real time, there will be a live chat window open for viewers to interact, and Todd will encourage audience members to submit content which he will curate in between shows and select standouts for inclusion on upcoming episodes.

“Forty years ago I reserved a transponder on a satellite, hoping to broadcast to homes across the world. Apparently, that satellite got lost or blew up or something so a dream was put on hold… until now! And I don't even have to leave my house!!!”, Rundgren explained.

The series is being produced in partnership with Future Beat, the leading company producing VIP package experiences for concert tours — futurebeat.com. Todd's longtime manager, Panacea Entertainment chairman Eric Gardner, is executive producing.

In other news, Todd Rundgren and some well known guest artists are re-recording his 1973 anthem “Just One Victory” and giving it away for free to the Democratic National Committee for use by candidates throughout the US running for public office this fall. Participants include Joe Walsh and Paul Shaffer, along with Don Was, who is co-producing with Todd.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager, going on to found and front Nazz, the quintessential '60s psychedelic group. In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, recording his debut offering, Runt. But it was 1972's seminal Something/Anything?, on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight, prompting the press to unanimously dub him “Rock's New Wunderkind.” It was followed by such landmark LPs as The Hermit of Mink Hollow and A Wizard, A True Star; evergreen hit singles include “I Saw The Light,” “Hello It's Me,” “Can We Still Be Friends,” and “Bang The Drum.”

LOCKE AND KEY NEW SERIES ON NETFLIX WAS PRETTY GOOD!

I streamed the whole 10 episodes yesterday. The show is young adult/teen based so it has horror type action but no real gore or foul language. The actors who play the kids are fabulous! The story is surprisingly suspense-filled, fun and engaging.

Jackson Robert Scott as Bode Locke steals every scene he's in, he's so smart. Loved him! The mom was mostly unnecessary, clueless and mostly annoying. But the plot does gain momentum after the 3rd episode and I hung in there.

After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens — and will stop at nothing to steal them.

Locke & Key Season 1, based on the best-selling graphic novels, Locke & Key follows 3 siblings who, after the murder of their father, move to their ancestral home only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities.

UNABOMBER: IN HIS OWN WORDS NEW SERIES FEATURES IN DEPTH INTERVIEWS

I just watched this new series about the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski on Netflix but it was produced for the Reelz Channel.  The Unabomber: In His Own Words and I loved it.


The Manhunt: Unabomber series on Netflix is great as well, both together are totally perfect.

Let me say one thing about this case... Linda Kaczynski solved this case!!, without Linda recognizing Ted's writing and attitude, they may never have found him in that shack in Montana. Thank you Linda are you the HERO of this story to me. Though kudos to the FBI and Newspapers that published the Manifesto.

Ted is heard narrating and commenting on certain topics. He laughs all the time and his voice seems awfully high pitched. Kind of surprising to me. He seems like a "fun" guy. It is a great show for my fellow True Crime fans.

A nationwide manhunt searching for the terrorist only known as the “Unabomber” last from 1978 –‐ 1995 until a tip led the FBI to a remote 10×12 foot cabin in the Montana mountains. The tip that took down the Unabomber came from Kaczynski’s younger brother David and David’s wife Linda.

GAME OF THRONES: HOUSE OF THE DRAGON GETS 10 EPISODE GREEN LIGHT!

The first Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts was to take place thousands of years before the original series. It was to be written and co-created by Jane Goldman. The cast was notified that HBO was not moving forward with this pilot. The new one is 300 years before the original series. Much better IMO

HBO killed off this first Game of Thrones prequel, which starred Naomi Watts and already had a pilot and expansive cast.

But...GREAT news! A brand new prequel series The House of Dragons will feature the House Targaryen. HBO just ordered this version straight to a 10 episode series, while the former only got a pilot which was not picked up.

House of the Dragon is being co-created by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal, the 10-episode spinoff is set in the early days of Westeros and focused on House Targaryen. “House of the Dragon” is based on Martin’s “Fire & Blood” book, and takes place 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”

Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, who directed several fan-favorite episodes of the original “Game of Thrones,” will serve as co-showrunners on the series and executive produce along with Martin and Vince Gerardis.

Sapochnik will also direct the pilot and additional episodes.

“The ‘Game of Thrones’ universe is so rich with stories,” Bloys said. “We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan and George.” Stay tuned!

NYPD BLUE SEQUEL GETS A PILOT DEAL!

The new show has really big shoes to fill! One of my very favorite series of all time may have a new sequel and I am really excited about the news!! 

A new installment of “NYPD Blue” has scored a pilot production commitment at ABC, Variety has learned.

The new series follows Andy Sipowicz’s son, Theo, as he tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father’s murder. Original series writers and executive producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Wootton will write and executive produce the new show, with Jesse Bochco–son of “NYPD Blue” co-creator Steven Bocho–executive producing and directing. Dayna Bochco, Steven’s wife, will produce. ABC Studios will produce in association with 20th Century Fox Television.

Olmstead is repped by WME and Bloom Hergott. Wootton is repped by WME and Hirsch Wallerstein.

The original “NYPD Blue” ran for over 260 episodes and 12 seasons on ABC from 1993-2005. The series starred Dennis Franz, David Caruso, Jimmy Smits, James McDaniel, Amy Brenneman, and Nicholas Turturro among many others during its run. The show was nominated for 84 Emmy Awards and won the best drama series Emmy in 1995 and won the Best Drama Series Golden Globe in 1994. Franz also picked up multiple best actor in a drama series Emmys for his role as Andy Sipowicz.

Should the project move forward, it would mark the latest revival or continuation of a storied series to make it to air on a broadcast network in recent years. ABC most recently revived “Roseanne,” which was subsequently brought back as “The Conners” following the firing of series creator and star Roseanne Barr. On CBS, “Murphy Brown” was brought back after 20 years, while Fox has revived shows like “The X-Files,” “Prison Break,” and “24.”

Exciting news! Hopefully Netflix will film a series that is worthy of C.S. Lewis' books! the movies never did the books justice in my opinion...I am really hoping the new series will be fantastic!

Hollywood, Calif. - October 2018 -- Netflix will develop new series and film projects based on C.S. Lewis’ beloved The Chronicles of Narnia series. Under the terms of a multi-year deal between Netflix and The C.S. Lewis Company, Netflix will develop classic stories from across the Narnia universe into series and films for its members worldwide.

All series and films produced through the deal will be Netflix productions, with Mark Gordon of Entertainment One (eOne) alongside Douglas Gresham and Vincent Sieber serving as executive producers for series and as producers for features. In total the Narnia books have sold more than 100 million copies and been translated in more than 47 languages worldwide. The deal marks the first time that rights to the entire seven books of the Narnia universe have been held by the same company.

“C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia stories have resonated with generations of readers around the world,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix. “Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”

NEW FIRST WIVES CLUB SERIES ORDERED AT PARAMOUNT NETWORK!

“The First Wives Club” reboot has been ordered to series at Paramount Network, Variety has learned.

The order comes less than two weeks after the network ordered the project to pilot. The half-hour comedy is based on the 1996 Paramount film of the same name, which was itself based on the 1992 book of the same name by Olivia Goldsmith. It will follow a group of New York women who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in their sisterhood and a little revenge. Paramount Network has ordered 10 half-hour episodes.

Tracy Oliver, who co-wrote the screenplay for the hit comedy film “Girls Trip,” will write and executive produce. Karen Rosenfelt will also executive produce along with Scott Rudin. Tony Hernandez of JAX Media will also serve as executive producer. Brad Gardner will serve as the executive in charge of production and will oversee the project for the network. Paramount Television will produce. Production will begin in New York City this summer with the series slated to debut on in 2019. READ MORE

LEAH REMINI SIGNS DEVELOPMENT DEAL WITH A&E

A+E Networks has set a first-look development pact with Leah Remini and renewed her “Scientology and the Aftermath” docu-series for a third season.

The production deal comes on the heels of A+E’s launch of an unscripted production unit dubbed A+E Originals. The plan is for Remini to develop a range of documentary content, beyond the subject of Scientology, for A&E, Lifetime, History and other in-house A+E platforms.

“I am so incredibly proud of this show and the movement that has started around it which continues to grow each and every day,” said Remini. “I’m honored to have a home at A+E Networks and am grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to expand our relationship telling brave stories and bringing truth to light, no matter the obstacles.”

“Scientology and the Aftermath” won the Emmy for informational series last year. The veteran actress’ expose of the organization birthed by L. Ron Hubbard is one of a handful of docu-series successes (notably “60 Days In” and “Live P.D.”) that have generated renewed momentum for A&E, which had been struggling with double-digit viewership losses.



“Leah is an incredible talent and collaborator with a unique point of view and we are looking forward to developing her brand of brave storytelling to new topics,” said Buccieri. “The creation of A+E Originals provides the opportunity for us to partner directly with the industry’s best nonfiction storytellers like Leah, both in front of and behind the camera, to bring their ideas to audiences around the world.”

The unit expects to order at least 50 hours of programming this year. “Scientology” has been renewed for eight hourlong episodes, plus five specials. “Scientology and the Aftermath” is produced for A&E Network by the Intellectual Property Corporation. HBO HAS HIRED 4 WRITERS TO DEVELOP GAME OF THRONES SPIN-OFFS!

VARIETY: HBO has closed deals with four different writers to explore multiple possible spinoffs of “Game of Thrones.”

The premium cable channel says that there is no timeline for development of the projects. “We’ll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in,” a spokesperson said.

The four writers are Max Borenstein (“Kong: Skull Island”), Jane Goldman (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”), Brian Helgeland (“Legend”), and Carly Wray (“Mad Men,” “The Leftovers”). Goldman and Wray will each be working individually with novelist and “Game of Thrones” creator George R. R. Martin.

“Game of Thrones” executive producers and showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff will be attached to the four projects, as will Martin, but will not write on any of them.

A spinoff to “Game of Thrones” — the most watched series in HBO history — has been a source of speculation for years. In recent months, HBO executive began to privately acknowledge that the network was searching for writers to develop ideas based on the series and Martin’s best-selling fantasy novels from which it is adapted.
