NINE OF WANDS: RESOLVE AND DETERMINATION

The Nine of Wands shows a weary, injured man who holds a staff as though in a posture of final defence. He has fought the battle and won. He is protected by a number of wands behind him that appear like a wall around him. He appears drained and exhausted as he leans on his wand but he is ready to go to battle again. He has the look of determination in his eye to overcome this final challenge and reach a point of accomplishment and victory. He stands up for what he believes in and holds firm in those beliefs.

9 OF WANDS: STANDING UP

The Nine of Wands card suggests that my power today lies in remarkable gratitude. I am not a victim. There are no lost causes. "I've been there, done that, and know suffering -- but it's all good." I'm still standing. "Can't touch this." Self-pity is an excuse to do nothing. To appeal to sympathy for pity's sake is to seek affirmation of the choice to do nothing. I am empowered by the spirit and support of meaningful experience and I transform with silent resilience.

 ACTIONS
defending yourself
assuming ill will expecting the worst taking extra precautions being paranoid feeling wary and guarded protecting others remembering past attacks

persisting despite all setbacks refusing to take "no" for an answer seeing something through to the end getting knocked down, then standing up keeping your resolve trying repeatedly
showing stamina
continuing despite fatigue holding fast drawing on hidden reserves holding together through force of will demonstrating physical strength keeping up the pace
