BOBBY RYDELL AUTOBIOGRAPHY: TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS!

TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS

The Bobby Rydell Autobiography

From Rise to Superstardom through Alcoholism and Life-Saving

Double Transplant Surgery, ‘Justin Bieber of the Camelot Era’

Releases Candid and Compelling ‘Tale of Second Chances’

PHILADELPHIA (March 22, 2016) — From his vivid childhood on the fabled mid-20th-century streets of South Philadelphia, to his reign as the Justin Bieber of the “Camelot” era, his battles with alcoholism, and his lifesaving double-transplant surgery, multi-talented entertainer BOBBY RYDELL has one hell of a story to tell.

On May 4, Bobby will share his incredible tale as he releases his candid and compelling autobiography, TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS: A Tale of Second Chances (Doctor Licks Publishing, 249 pp., $16.95).

Co-written with award-winning musician-author-filmmaker Allan Slutsky (Standing in the Shadows of Motown), TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS not only tells the story of Bobby Rydell, but that of American pop culture through the past six decades. In its pages, Bobby writes of his encounters with such giants of 20th century show business as Frank Sinatra, Ann-Margret, The Beatles, Red Skelton, Jack Benny and Dick Clark, whose Philly-based American Bandstand helped make Rydell the world’s biggest teen idol in the years between Elvis Presley’s army induction and the advent of Beatlemania. A time when Frank Sinatra called Bobby his “favorite” pop singer.

But TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS also is a very personal — and often-painful – story. Bobby delves into the darker and more dramatic aspects of his life, including the death of his beloved first wife, Camille, his decades of alcohol abuse, and the last-ditch transplant surgery that saved his life.

Among other topics covered in the book:

The circumstances of how Bobby lost his virginity in a Hollywood hotel suite at the age of 17.

How a Philadelphia mob boss helped him take a movie acting job.

His becoming, at age 19, the youngest-ever headliner at New York’s legendary Copacabana nightclub.

How The Beatles paid homage to Bobby in one of their biggest hits — and how the Fab Four’s emergence as a global phenomenon all but killed his career.

Humorous, tragic, fascinating, inspiring and always entertaining, TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS stands as one of the most important non-fiction books of 2016.

TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS (Doctor Licks Publishing) will be available May 4, 2016 at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and book stores throughout America.

A Penumbral Lunar Eclipse Leads the Way to Easter Weekend

22 Mar , 2016 by David Dickinson

The first of two lunar eclipses for 2016 occurs this week, though it’s an event so subtle, you might not notice it at first glance. We’re talking about Wednesday evening’s (morning for North America) penumbral lunar eclipse.

If a total solar eclipse such as the one that crossed Indonesia and the Pacific Ocean earlier this month is the ultimate astronomical experience, then a penumbral lunar eclipse is at the other end of the spectrum, a ghostly shading on the Moon that is barely noticeable. Read More Here

WHY IS PETE ROSE STILL BANNED FROM THE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME?

Pete Rose, whose career with the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies holds many major league records, was banned from baseball for life for gambling on games.

It seems to me that the punishment Pete Rose has endured is more than unfair. Gambling or sports betting is common place these days and sports figures get away with much more than betting.

Was he involved in steroid abuse or tied up with organized crime as well? Why this extreme punishment for Pete?  netbet sports uk

Why are we able to ignore more  felonious criminal behavior in our athletic heroes and yet still keep Charlie Hustle still on the self...Just sayin....

Some writers didn't care that he gambled and were prepared to vote for him for what he did on the field. But the Hall of Fame changed the rules to punish him. When Giamatti banned Rose from baseball, he did not ban Rose from the Hall of Fame. Technically, the commissioner did not have the power to do that.

Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a letter sent to Rose and made public that baseball's hits king hasn't been completely honest about his gambling. The commissioner also noted that Rose continues to bet on baseball legally, even though his gambling got him into trouble, making it an "unacceptable risk" to let him back in the game.

GROUND HOG DAY 2016!

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) — The handlers of Pennsylvania’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, say the furry rodent has failed to see his shadow, meaning means he’s “predicted” an early spring.

Members of the top hat-wearing Inner Circle announced the “forecast” at sunrise, just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Heck we have had Spring all Winter here in Ann Arbor...
