BADFINGER TEAMS UP WITH RICK SPRINGFIELD ON NEW SINGLE!

Los Angeles, CA – If you grew up in the ‘70s, chances are you had a poster of actor/musician/singer Rick Springfield adorning your bedroom wall and at least one Badfinger vinyl in your record collection. Now these two icons of ‘70s rock have joined forces on a new single that recreates a classic hit from Badfinger’s catalog, the 1979 power pop favorite “Love Is Gonna Come At Last” originally released on the album Airwaves. This new version features not only Springfield’s powerful vocals, which seemed to have only grown more resonant with time, but also his deft and intricate guitar work that intertwines beautifully with Badfinger’s Joey Molland’s own ample voice and driving bass guitar. It’s truly a match made in rock heaven!

Springfield shares, “Badfinger has always been one of my all-time favorite bands. In fact, I am often asked by journalists ‘What is the one song you had wished you had written?’ and my answer is ‘Baby Blue’. What a perfect song! Their music was and is immortal.”

Check out the single: https://orcd.co/badfinger_rick_springfield

Look for a full-length Badfinger album with special guests Todd Rundgren, Rick Wakeman, Matthew Sweet, Rick Springfield, Sonny Landreth and more coming later this year!

TODD RUNDGREN & RIVERS CUOMO TEAM UP FOR NEW SINGLE

Todd Rundgren photo credit: © Lynn Goldsmith

Los Angeles, CA - Music hipsters of the world UNITE and celebrate what is sure to be one of this year’s most talked-about musical collaborations. Multi-hyphenate Todd Rundgren, famously heralded by Rolling Stone as Rock’s Renaissance Man meets up with the equally iconoclastic Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo on “Down With The Ship,” a new song that is being released today on all digital platforms.

The duo share writing duties as well as trading vocal roles on the track, which draws inspiration from reggae and African rhythms not unlike Rundgren’s evergreen 1983 hit “Bang The Drum All Day.” Lyrically, however, the song cuts with a much sharper edge, as Rundgren puts it, “It’s just a little parable about what happens when you align yourself with a treacherous leader.”

WILLIAM SHATNER TEAMS UP WITH GUITAR LEGEND RICHIE BLACKMORE!

Los Angeles, CA – Hot on the heels of the superb joint effort from William Shatner and Canned Heat comes to a brand-new alliance that is sure to have music fans cheering. Former Rainbow and Deep Purple axeman and one of the most revered guitarists of the classic rock era, Ritchie Blackmore, joins Mr. Shatner for a deeply felt, heart-rending take on the blues classic “The Thrill Is Gone.”

The song, perhaps best known by the smash-hit version that B.B. King recorded in 1970, was actually written the same year that the young Mr. Shatner made his film debut in 1951. Since then it has been interpreted numerous times, but King’s version was the first to unite the soul-piercing lyrics with absolutely awe-inspiring guitar licks to create the definitive version of the song, and no doubt inspired the Shatner/Blackmore version.

As a special treat, Blackmore’s wife and longtime collaborator in Blackmore’s Night, Candice Night, contributes background vocals to add even more pathos to this inspired track.

Mr. Shatner had this to say about the song, “'The Thrill is Gone' is the title of the song, but the thrill is there with Ritchie Blackmore and his great guitar!”

Blackmore and Night return the praise saying, “We would like to express our gratitude for being able to appear on the recording with William Shatner. It is always an honor to work with him. He is a man of many legendary performances.”

The album will feature a constellation of blues, rock and country performers who work together with Mr. Shatner to bring the blues to life including Sonny Landreth, Brad Paisley, Pat Travers, Tyler Bryant and more! Look for the album to be released October 2 courtesy of Cleopatra Records.

WILLIAM SHATNER JOINS CANNED HEAT "LET'S WORK TOGETHER" NEW SINGLE

Los Angeles, CA - In 1969, songwriter and recording artist Wilbert Harrison released “Let’s Work Together” amidst unprecedented social strife and racial tensions in America. The song was a clarion call to “every boy, girl, woman and man” to join the burgeoning social movements that promoted peace, justice and equality and a declaration that “Together we will stand, divided we’ll fall.” The following year, Southern California hippie blues band Canned Heat released their own version of the song, which became a major hit and amplified Harrison’s call to action and unity.

Now, that same band has teamed up with famed actor and musical interpretationist William Shatner for a much-needed revival of the spirit of unity found in this song.

“Let’s Work Together” features a backing track created by the current line-up of Canned Heat, including long-time drummer Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra, as well as a special guest appearance by former member, and revered blues guitarist, Harvey Mandel. The musical stage thus set, Mr. Shatner joins in with a dramatic, passionate rendering of the song’s lyrics, breathing a new life into the message.

Mr. Shatner proclaims, “This is a terrific song for this moment in time!”

Fittingly, “Let’s Work Together” will be one of the centerpieces on Mr. Shatner’s new album, The Blues, coming later this year that will feature a constellation of blues, rock and country performers who work together with Mr. Shatner to bring the blues to life including Sonny Landreth, Brad Paisley, Ritchie Blackmore, Pat Travers, Tyler Bryant and more - courtesy of Cleopatra Records.

Stream the single: https://orcd.co/shirley_king_elvin_bishop

The song is a highlight on King’s incredible new album, Blues For A King, which crosses musical genres from blues to rock to soul and back again.

Even next to such high wattage guests as Joe Louis Walker, Robben Ford, Junior Wells, Pat Travers & Elvin Bishop, King absolutely shines as she performs a spectacular version of the blues classics “Gallows Pole” and “Hoodoo Blues Man” as well as the soul hit “Johnny Porter” (originally by The Temptations) plus two songs by British rock band Traffic, “Can’t Find My Way Home” and “Feelin’ Alright?.”

The album closes with a powerful version of Etta James’s unforgettable “At Last,” which signals that, at long last, Shirley King is finally getting the attention and recognition she so richly deserves.

About Shirley:

Born and raised in Memphis, Shirley began singing in the church choir at age nine. When she was thirteen, she met another music legend – Etta James. Young Shirley was so impressed by Etta’s performance that she made Etta her musical role model. Ruth Brown and the late Mahalia Jackson also greatly influenced the fledgling singer.

Shirley says, “I grew up around the stage watching my dad become famous, but I never imagined I’d become a blues singer too.” Ms. King came late to the blues, first trying it on in 1990. Within six months, she was a regular performer at famed Chicago blues club Kingston Mines. Two years later she saw the release of her first CD, Jump Through My Keyhole.

In 1999, Shirley released her highly acclaimed blues album, Daughter of the Blues, which featured her soulful, bluesy versions of classics like “Wang Dang Doodle,” “Sweet Home Chicago,” “Every Day I Have the Blues” and, fittingly, “The Thrill is Gone.” Once her father caught her act he lent his full support to Shirley’s efforts at carrying on the blues.

She admits that having a legendary father helped open some doors for her, but it was her talent, charisma, and high-energy stage presence, along with her big, beautiful singing voice, that put her on the musical map. From traditional blues to gospel to funky R&B to smooth soul, Shirley defies genre and her singing and stage antics never fail to excite her growing number of fans worldwide.

Shirley also believes in giving back. She has worked with kids as an artist-in-residence with the highly acclaimed Urban Gateways Arts in the Schools Program at Chicago Public Schools and continues to expose school children to the history blues has played in American culture.

All in all, Shirley King continues to be the quintessential ambassador for the blues - and that’s something that would certainly make her daddy proud.

THE RIFT: LOS ANGELES HARD ROCK TRIOL TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE

Los Angeles hard rock trio The Rift will be releasing their highly anticipated new single “Edge of Never” on March 20th. It will be premiered on Pure Grain Audio March 18th.

“Edge of Never” will mark the first of several releases for the band in 2020 with plans for a tour coming together in the summer months of 2020. The song was recorded at Validus studios in Los Angeles and produced by Scott Hallquist (Ten Foot Pole). It opens as a heavy in your face classic rock tune reminiscent of Black Sabbath and turns into a grooving progressive jam session towards its conclusion.

Says the band, “The meaning of this song is pretty in your face. Music is like therapy for us and helps to deal with the storms life can throw at you. We wanted to make a song that really was gritty with rock and roll and chaos. 'Edge of Never' is very chaotic. You have this swerving guitar riff and crazy drumming. It's intense, and it's meant to be.”

The Rift recorded “Edge of Never” along with several other upcoming singles this past fall 2019 at Validus Recording Studios. Scott Hallquist was their producer and had some great ideas and dialed in the sound. Guitarist Aris Anagnos explains, “We had the song written musically earlier in 2019, but you know before you go into the studio you fine-tune things, especially lyrically.

We took 4 days I think to do all the songs at Validus, but there's just something about hearing a song like 'Edge of Never' come to life through the speakers for the first time! Part of that process I think helped me finish writing the lyrics in the studio.”

Traditionally, a rift is an open space. That space can be a blank canvass of potential. Los Angeles hard rock trio The Rift lives up to its moniker!

Aris Anagnos says, “The name is the best way to describe the band, what we do, and the experience we want portray live. We have a lot of different influences from metal to flamenco, reggae and classic rock, so we wanted the openness as a band to push those genre boundaries. Every song we shoot to make the best song no matter the style. That openness has solidified the group.”

The Rift is Aris Anagnos (vocals/guitar), Johnny Evil (bass, vocals) along with Ovais Malik (drums) - as one of Southern California's most thrilling new rock upstarts. Since forming in 2009, the musicians have played alongside the likes of Exodus, Joan Jett, The Misfits, Motionless in White, Wage War, and many more as well as receiving nominations at the Hollywood Music Awards and Ventura County Music Awards.

2016's full-length debut “Inventions” crystallized their hard rock hooks and generated a ton of buzz on Pure Volume, Jam in the Van, Screamer Magazine, Pure Grain Audio, and dozens of radio stations. The album also caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer Brandon Friesen who worked famously with Alice in Chains and Nickelback, Papa Roach, and The Hu Band.

In 2017 The Rift released two singles “Rock Narcotic” and “Mysterious.” The band feels that with both songs they have reached a new level in song development and that they are onto something very special. “Rock Narcotic” is provocative and one can hear traces of Muse and System of a Down at times. The song is about losing yourself in the music and getting addicted to rock and roll. It has almost a reggae, flamenco vibe at times, but then hits hard with a chunky rock chorus. Aris Anagnos says it's meant to be a tribute to the power of rock and roll.

The song caught on in Los Angeles and helped propel the band to Vans Warped tour in 2018 where the band performed on several dates in the Midwest. After that they were welcomed home by 95.5 KLOS FM featuring Rock Narcotic as a part of the Next 2 Rock contest produced by Big Machine Records. The band placed as runner up at the Viper Room in the contest but kept the energy to push toward 2019. Much of 2019 was spent refining and writing their new material.

“The Rift are an exciting and undeniably talented group of musicians, creating within the indie world exactly what their name suggests.” - StereoStickMan

Along with working on their next album, The Rift is planning a tour of the West Coast this summer. They will also be releasing 2 other singles at least this year with videos to accompany them. Everything should be out by August 2020.

SEA WOLF RELEASES NEW TRACK: FOREVER NEVERMORE

February 7, 2020 – Alternative indie/folk artist Sea Wolf has released a contemplative new song, “Forever Nevermore”, along with an illustrative new video. The track depicts a specific, transformative moment in time with vivid imagery and a driving melody, as the narrator tries to move on while reflecting on what has transpired. “Forever Nevermore” is off Sea Wolf’s first new album in six years, Through A Dark Wood, which releases on March 20 via Dangerbird Records.

Watch the “Forever Nevermore” video via Youtube:

“The song ‘Forever Nevermore’ is set in a very particular place and time, and I like videos that aren’t literal interpretations. The director Jacob Epstein came up with something that was unrelated, and yet there are enough easter eggs to connect it to the song and the larger narrative of the album,” explains Sea Wolf frontman Alex Brown Church. “The video takes place in Los Angeles, where I live, but I’m living out of a suitcase somewhere. I’m connecting with my friends and there’s this new romantic interest, so it seems like life has maybe moved on from the events in the lyrics, but I’m also seemingly trapped in a loop, unable to move forward. The song is about uncertainty really, and here I am perhaps still trapped in the feedback loop of that uncertainty.”

Sea Wolf has garnered a reputation for Church’s poignant delivery and dexterity as a songwriter, first capturing attention with his 2007 breakout track “You’re A Wolf" off the debut full-length, Leaves In The River. After releasing two more studio albums and one stripped-down LP, Church began recording the next Sea Wolf record, but ultimately decided to scrap it. He felt the songs did not reflect the significant life changes he was experiencing, and instead took time away to score an independent feature before returning musically rejuvenated and ready to dig even deeper. The result is his most personal, introspective album to date.

Through A Dark Wood is a compelling collection of songs that showcase Church’s ability to gracefully illustrate deep, complicated human emotions. As cathartic as it is triumphant, the new album explores themes surrounding relationships, loss, the magnitude of current events, and ultimately the process of coming out on the other side. Church's strikingly honest lyrics are wrapped around expansive melodies, with pounding drum machines and a stunning string quartet that push his sound forward and offer an underlying sense of hope throughout. The captivating debut track “Fear of Failure” is a testament to the strength found in confronting internal demons, and FLOOD Magazine called it “more intimate than anything Church has done before.”

KANDACE SPRINGS RELEASES GORGEOUS NEW SINGLE "6 8"

Kandace Springs has released “6 8,” a sublime remake of Gabriel Garzón-Montano's gorgeous ballad that is molasses slow and crystalline pretty. Kandace’s sensual vocals and chiming piano intertwine with Elena Pinderhughes’ ethereal flute and float above Burniss Travis II’s bass and Karriem Riggins’ drums. Watch the video for “6 8” here.

The song follows the single “Don’t Need The Real Thing,” both of which appear on Kandace’s remarkable second album Indigo, a 13-track LP of originals and choice covers that will be released September 7 on Blue Note Records. The album showcases the full breadth of Kandace’s artistry with songs that swirl classical composition with quiet-storm cool, jazz poise with hip-hop swing, tropical warmth with soulful depth, and earthen groove with airy psych.

All but two tracks are produced by Riggins (Common, Erykah Badu) with additional production by Jamie Hartman (Rag'n'Bone Man), Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae), Jimmy Harry (Madonna, P!nk), and Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken (Rihanna).

Given the diverse palette, Karriem was exactly the right person to work with Kandace to catalyze the best parts of various interests into something new. “I love crossing genres and the direction on Indigo was to marry all the different things to tell her story,” says Karriem, who tracked his drums at various studios while on the road with Diana Krall, and chopped and reassembled his and Kandace's recordings into what you hear. “It sounds organic because everything was built around the songwriting. She says so much on the piano, and her voice is amazing—it's the focal point of the whole sound.”

Kandace will embark on a U.S. headline tour beginning September 28 that includes album release shows in Los Angeles (Troubadour, October 1), New York (Sony Hall, October 28), and a hometown Nashville show (City Winery, November 4), followed by performances in Europe and Asia. ROBBIE GENNET NEW RELEASES: LP GLEAMS AND SINGLE THE CAMERA'S ON

Los Angeles, CA: At first listen, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Robbie Gennet’s music sounds so original and different from the norm that it’s almost jarring. After all, most new music is “borrowed” from artists that inspire the songwriter, and is easily classified in a specific musical genre.

Not so in Gennet’s case. Perhaps “multi-dimensional, progressive, piano-driven pop/rock” best describes it. Or, to compare his sound to well-known artists, think Father John Misty, Arcade Fire, Rush and the Killers, with Elton John-esque piano and even a string section throughout.

Robbie Gennet is proud to announce his upcoming 7-song album of all original songs, Gleams, set for a May 24 release. Having previously been a sideman on keyboards, vocals, guitar and bass for other artists, including Fuel, Lisa Marie Presley, Nick Lachey, Everclear and many others, he’s excited to release Gleams, his own latest original musical creation.
.
Prior to the release of Gleams, the first video from the album is “The Camera’s On” which comes out on April 27. “The Camera’s On” is a frenetic, multi-layered piece of music that reflects the constant state of surveillance we all live in now, while also connecting with the recent anti-patriarchy #metoo movement. “There are cameras in most public spaces, and we are increasingly captured on video,” he explains. “There’s the concept of Big Brother watching us, which I wanted to touch on by showing that through our collective cameras, we are the Bigger Brother watching back. As the lyrics state: ‘Watch what you watch-they see what you see. Don’t leave a trace if you want to be faceless in the crowd when you’re not allowed anonymity.’”

“I was also compelled to tie-in an anti-patriarchy theme in this video,” he continues. “I feel very strongly about women rising up and gaining an equal seat at the table, which requires the patriarchy to unwillingly lose its long-held privilege. As the video started forming in my mind, I saw my initial ‘Reservoir Dogs-meets-Eyes Wide Shut’ plotline through the eyes of a female main character. I knew this video was meant to be built upon the theme of a woman turning the tables on a man and in the end, assuming total power over him.”

In addition to writing all the songs, Gennet plays most of the instruments on the album. “I’ve always played piano on my previous recordings, but playing bass this time has given me the freedom to map out more adventuresome parts. I also played drums on the demos to give Ryan Brown (Dweezil Zappa) a fairly explicit roadmap. Of course, he added his own dazzling touches!” Gennet also specializes in vintage keyboards (Rhodes, Clavinet, Wurlitzer, Minimoog) and has experience playing Hammond organ. He is also a longtime music journalist and video host with Keyboard magazine, teaches music (at Musicians Institute and privately), and is the author of The Key of One (Alfred) book/DVD, his own notation-free approach to learning music as a language.

Growing up, Gennet idolized Elton John and Billy Joel. “Elton and Billy Joel were the pinnacles of piano playing singer/songwriters to me. Having no classical training and minimal exposure to classical or jazz music, I was more interested in rock and blues piano, so I gravitated in that direction. Also, one of my seminal influences when I was a kid was the soundtrack to the movie Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band starring the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton. It was my introduction to the songwriting of the Beatles, as we didn't have any of their records in the house at the time.””

“This new music and sound is one of the most exciting things I have done musically,” he concludes. “By adding live strings and stacked vocals to my piano trio arrangements, I branched away from the guitar-frosted music of my past into more cultured and rich arrangements. Coupled with more complex chord progressions, lyrics and melodies, these songs have broken new ground in my catalogue. It’s much harder for me to find references to tag this music with because of its individuality, which to me is something of a victory artistically. I don’t want to align my music with what’s on the radio or is currently enjoying its15 minutes of coolness. I am focused on timelessness, and being true to my vision.“

Stay tuned for more news…additional new musical releases are planned, as well as live show dates in select cities…

JOSH CASHMAN RELEASES NEW SINGLE: LISTENING

Josh Cashman Releases New Single – Listening
New EP Expected in May

“The young musician from Melbourne, with his emotion-filled nature, is comparable to that of Ed Sheeran. (Patience) is a beautiful tune… made majestic with his falsetto-filled harmonies. A real stunner of a song, to say the least.” - Vulture Magazine (Australia)

March 27th- Melbourne, AU/New York, NY: Fresh from his debut showcases at SXSW and 2017 US tour support for sold out Tash Sultana, Australian Singer Songwriter Josh Cashman has released his latest single Listening on March 24th via One Love.

The track is taken from his forthcoming yet-to-be-titled EP. This is the follow up to last year's full-length LP Wishful Imagery - peaking #6 overall on Triple J Unearthed Charts.

Locking himself away in the studio with Jan Skubiszewski (John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire, ILLY), Listening evokes a newfound sense of confidence and maturity - a mix of both organic and electronic instrumentation that broadening Cashman’s overall soundscape, delivering a truly beautiful song which showcases a song writing talent mature beyond his 21 years.

A gifted, self-taught musician with a fiercely loyal fan base, Josh Cashman has sold-out revered Melbourne venues,

The Worker’s Club and Penny Black, as well as a residency at Ding Dong Lounge. Recently Josh did 6 showcases at SXSW and the best by far was BD Riley's on Sat 18th March which was at capacity.

The show was for Sounds Australia and the audience had foreigners and locals alike who were singing along. Josh's official showcase at CU29 Bar on the same evening was also packed, and the crowd kept asking for more songs once he was done. It's a good that there are a lot more songs to come from Josh Cashman.
