SKINNED ALIVE BY THE FANTASTIC FILMAKER BART SARIC

I just met Bart via the Godoy Twins stars of Bart's film about Tattooing, Punk Rock and Skateboarding. Off the rim you might say. These three areas were an unlikely match and yet in the late 70's they began to blend. This film tells that story and I couldn't move from my seat while watching it! Bart takes a light hand directing this film but it covers emotions from drama, sadness, humor, and danger with a very balanced approach. Fascinating! Great work Bart!

Here is Bart's new trailer just out today!!

For purchasing and screening information contact Bart the director himself at his website HERE I want to do a big screening of "Skinned Alive this December 10-11-12 in Ann Arbor featuring Bart Saric and his stars the Godoy Twins who will also be in town playing with the Deniz Tek Group at the Blind Pig

Great clip of The Godoys those hunky tatted up twins from out West....

NEW JOHNNY THUNDERS BOX SET FROM EASY ACTION!

Johnny Thunders

Easy Action Website

Everyone at Easy Action is proud to announce we will be working alongside the Johnny Thunders Estate / Beta Petrol in producing a catalog of Johnny Thunders recordings on an exclusive imprint called Chatterbox. We have had great success with our relationship with the Stooges & Iggy Pop as well as producing high quality box sets and albums by The Sonic's Rendezvous (Love this one), Marc Bolan (Loved him) T.Rex, Steve Marriott and (KIMMER'S FAVORITE) the MC5. I really just discovered JT in recent years and dig his music totally and a lot of my friends have played with him over the years before his death.

Outside of Jungle Records, who have done a sterling job for thousands of Johnny Thunders fans - above and beyond the call of duty, and of course Warners ‘So Alone’ album, we will be looking at compiling a boxed set of unreleased material from 1975 onwards. We will also be re-issuing and re-mastering certain albums that have been out of print for some time. Reels of tape have been located already!

As fans, we want the profile of Johnny Thunders to return to the rock n roll music and fragile acoustic performances that he delivered.

We promise to produce highly packaged product and will liaise with fans to ensure we deliver exactly what they (and we)want on CD, LP, 7” and digitally.

Beta Petrol now have an archive of amazing photos, many unseen. With the official merchandise company “Don’t mess with us “ providing quality T shirts etc, we can at last
provide quality Johnny Thunders goods and hopefully bury all the cheap and vile product that has escaped over the years.

"KILLING IS EASY": THE VICIOUS GUNS NEW ALBUM

ЯICHEY VICIOUS JENNIE VICIOUS

I loved listening to this new band duo Richey and Jennie Vicious of The Vicious Guns. Obviously I love the black and white "Retro" look to their images and their music is so unique. Not being a music reviewer and just your average music lover, I found their music fun melodic and edgy at the same time. Check them out and see what you think. Their new album is available on July 13. For now you can hear them play on their website link listed below.

The Vicious Guns will be in Detroit June 22 at PJ's Lager House. The Lager House is Located at 1254 Michigan Avenue, three blocks East of old Tiger Stadium and two blocks West of The MGM Grand. 313-961-4668 info@pjslagerhouse.com

What I particularly like is that their lyrics are meaningful, clear and they are both great singers!

The Vicious Guns are an electronic rock n’ roll duo who hail from Canada. With Jennie Vicious on vocals and bass and Richey Vicious on vocals and guitar, their music is characterized by lead female vocals, male harmonies, and a juxtaposition of impeccably clean/overdriven guitar tones against a backdrop of synthetic drums and samples.

According to Jennie, “Music is our passion, therapy, obsession, and love." Something their new album Killing Is Easy, which comes out July 13th can attest to. Influenced by a mutual love for political punk, glam, brit pop, and new wave... Jennie and Richey are open to letting their fans categorizes their sounds as they will. “I hear so many dimensions in my own songs from pop to punk to dance. Vocal phrasing or guitar tone may even be influenced by R&B or funk, but that doesn't permeate the entire collection of songs.”

RARE PHOTOS OF MC5'S MACHINEGUN THOMPSON AND HIS BANDS

Ms B and MGT Copperfield's NY August 1977

One of the most exciting things for me is when fans send me rare photos of my rock friends. I had the great fortune to meet Ms B, Machinegun Thompson's former girlfriend back in the New Order and Secrets days. She and I met on Facebook and then chatted on the phone for a long time about her personal story about being a witness to musical history in the making.

Ms B told me all about the haps in Hollywood at 404 the apartment where lots of Detroit rockers lived while trying to make it big in the music world.

Cool concert flyer from my home town!

Ms B sent me all these rare and most never seen personal photos and I couldn't wait to share these my readers and Machinegun's too. I have more photos of Sirius Trixon and the Motor City Bad Boys which I posted on MGT's page. You can see them HERE

 Machinegun Thompson

How cool MGT played so fast and furious that he had a drum tech standing by to feed him new sticks when his sticks accidentally flew into the audience or he threw them to the fans.

THANK YOU MS B!

MC5 ON GOLD:: BEFORE WOODSTOCK AND BEYOND REALITY

Wild Eye GOLD: Before Woodstock. Beyond Reality on DVD, featuring a soundtrack of unreleased music from the MC5.

“…In 1968, filmmaker Bob Levis led a rag-tag band of dreamers, drop outs and drug-happy darlings into the wilderness to make a movie and emerged a month later with ‘GOLD’”, a bizarre and beautiful journey into the mind and madness of the late 1960s – one overflowing with fantasies of revolution, recreation and raunchy free love.

“At once a western, a comedy, a ‘nudie’, a drama and a musical – ‘Gold’ is a profound potpourri made in the spirit of shaking down square society, while systematically shattering every movie rule in the process. But then the film vanished, lost like the generation from which it came, until now…”

GOLD stars improvisational comedian Del Close (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and Garry Goodrow (Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice).

In the feature Pirate Radio, the character played by actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman is based on Ronan O’Rahilly (‘Radio Caroline’), the producer of GOLD. Ronan managed the MC5 for a time while they lived in the UK.
