JL HUDSON'S SITE TRANSITION LOOKS FANTASTIC!

New plans for the former J.L. Hudson site in downtown Detroit show a development rising from a nine-story base with a 734-foot residential tower, which will make it the tallest building in the city -- seven feet taller than the Renaissance Center. Bedrock Detroit.

For generations, Hudson’s (also known as the “Big Store” and “J.L. Hudson’s”) was the premier retailer in downtown Detroit, and one of the most important department stores in the country.

The massive flagship store anchored the bustling Woodward Avenue shopping corridor, and at 25 stories was the tallest department store in the world. Its more than 2 million square feet made it second in overall size only to Macy’s New York, and that by a mere 26,000 square feet.

The store’s enormity nearly defies belief in the era of online shopping with more than 200 departments spread over 49 acres of floor space and featuring roughly 600,000 items. Read More

Architects
They are working with both SHoP out of New York City and Hamilton Anderson from Detroit. Both bring extensive expertise in construction projects such as the one we are proposing. They think outside vision combined with local perspective will result in the most meaningful addition to downtown Detroit and metro region.

The group worked with WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, one of the nation’s leading economic analysis firms, to evaluate economic impact of this project. Overall, the project will support more than 5,800 jobs (new, direct and indirect) and generate $1.553 billion in new economic output during the construction phase.

When complete, the development will support more than 3,000 permanent jobs and generate an estimated $560 million in total annual economic impact annually.

The plan is to break ground by December 1, 2017

FIVE CAME BACK NEW SERIES BEGINS MARCH 31 ON NETFLIX!

A three-part documentary based on Mark Harris’s book captures the intersection of Hollywood and history, as five pioneering directors—John Ford, Frank Capra, William Wyler, John Huston and George Stevens—applied their gifts for storytelling and film technique to produce documentary propaganda during World War II.

At great risk, they traveled to the front lines in Europe and Asia, capturing footage that has stood the test of time. Executive producers are Steven Spielberg, Scott Rudin and Barry Diller. Laurent Bouzereau directs; Meryl Streep narrates.

THE SUPREMES A GO GO: NEW DELUXE CD SET REISSUE!!

Los Angeles, CA – March 28, 2017 – By the time Motown released The Supremes A’ Go-Go, the group’s ninth studio album, on August 25, 1966, the group had already scaled the charts with hits like “Where Did Our Love Go?,” “Baby Love,” “Come See About Me,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “Back in My Arms Again” and “I Hear a Symphony.”

The Supremes A’ Go-Go solidified Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard’s hold on the American and global marketplace, the first of their albums to go to #1 on the Billboard 200, marking the first LP by an all-female group to do so, spawning two Top 10 hits in the #1 “You Can’t Hurry Love” and the #9 “Love Is Like an Itching in My Heart.”

The album also featured the trio tackling an array of hit cover material, mostly from their Motown stablemates the Four Tops, the Temptations, Martha & the Vandellas, Barrett Strong and the Isley Brothers, but also contemporary hitmakers Nancy Sinatra (Lee Hazlewood’s “These Boots are Made for Walkin’”) and the McCoys (Bert Berns and Wes Farrell’s Brill Building chestnut “Hang on Sloopy”).

UMe will now reissue the classic album in a deluxe, expanded two-CD edition, featuring the original 12 tracks, featuring both the stereo album, along with rare mono album mixes, alternative vocal versions and mixes, as well as a duet of “Shake Me Wake Me (When It’s Over)” with the Four Tops. There are also rarely heard album outtakes, such as covers of fellow ‘60s stalwarts Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind” and the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satsifaction.”

The Supremes A’ Go-Go remained on the Billboard chart for 60 weeks, going on to sell 3.5 million around the world, including one million in the U.S., knocking off The Beatles’ Revolver from the top spot for the honors. It also went to #15 in the U.K. album charts, with “You Can’t Hurry Love” peaking at #3 on the U.K. singles chart.

The production represented the peak of the fabled Motown team, headed by producers Brian Holland and Lamont Dozier, the Funk Brothers and even the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on hand.

This expanded edition will also contain two 24-page booklets. The first chronicles the album’s production and success, as well as a timeline, and both rare and never-before-seen photos. The second booklet is a recreation of the Supremes 1966 tour book.

Said All Music’s Bruce Eder about the album, referring to its winning formula of having The Supremes cover Motown’s greatest hits: “In fact, back in the days when vinyl was the only game in town, used copies of this record sold faster and better than any of their other common '60s LPs, and for good reason.”

VISUALIZING MONEY: THE SECRET SCROLLS

"When you close your eyes and you visualize having money and imagine doing all the things you want with that money, you are creating a new reality. Your subconscious mind and the law of attraction do not know whether you are imagining something or whether it is real. And so when you imagine, the law of attraction receives those thoughts and images as though you were actually living them, and it must return those visions to you.

When you are in the place where what you are imagining feels real, you will know that it has penetrated your subconscious mind, and the law of attraction must deliver it."

THIS OLD HOUSE IN DETROIT: EPISODES BEGINS APRIL 3

This Old House' in Detroit - With the Polk Family

This Old House traveled to Detroit for the first time to work with retired firefighter Frank Polk as he and his family renovate a classic brick home. Renovations began last summer with the 10 episodes to premiere on Detroit Public Television (56.1) on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 7:30pm ET.

This Old House currently airs on Create (56.3) Fridays at 6pm ET, but we will add the Monday at 7:30pm time slot on 56.1 when the Detroit episodes begin in April. Visit the schedule to check if your provider carries Create.

The team will work with retired firefighter Frank and his family as they renovate their classic brick home. The 1939 two-story property was one of thousands of abandoned structures owned by the Detroit Land Bank.

The family recently purchased the Russell Woods neighborhood house at auction with the promise they would make improvements and move in.

Expected work includes a new roof, kitchen and baths, plus new mechanicals to replace vandalized equipment in the basement. The team will look to preserve historic details such as leaded stained glass windows and archways as the homeowners blend their modern aesthetics with the home’s historic details. It’s a total family affair as THIS OLD HOUSE pitches in to help reclaim this beautiful corner of the city.

JOSH CASHMAN RELEASES NEW SINGLE: LISTENING

Josh Cashman Releases New Single – Listening
New EP Expected in May

“The young musician from Melbourne, with his emotion-filled nature, is comparable to that of Ed Sheeran. (Patience) is a beautiful tune… made majestic with his falsetto-filled harmonies. A real stunner of a song, to say the least.” - Vulture Magazine (Australia)

March 27th- Melbourne, AU/New York, NY: Fresh from his debut showcases at SXSW and 2017 US tour support for sold out Tash Sultana, Australian Singer Songwriter Josh Cashman has released his latest single Listening on March 24th via One Love.

The track is taken from his forthcoming yet-to-be-titled EP. This is the follow up to last year's full-length LP Wishful Imagery - peaking #6 overall on Triple J Unearthed Charts.

Locking himself away in the studio with Jan Skubiszewski (John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire, ILLY), Listening evokes a newfound sense of confidence and maturity - a mix of both organic and electronic instrumentation that broadening Cashman’s overall soundscape, delivering a truly beautiful song which showcases a song writing talent mature beyond his 21 years.

A gifted, self-taught musician with a fiercely loyal fan base, Josh Cashman has sold-out revered Melbourne venues,

The Worker’s Club and Penny Black, as well as a residency at Ding Dong Lounge. Recently Josh did 6 showcases at SXSW and the best by far was BD Riley's on Sat 18th March which was at capacity.

The show was for Sounds Australia and the audience had foreigners and locals alike who were singing along. Josh's official showcase at CU29 Bar on the same evening was also packed, and the crowd kept asking for more songs once he was done. It's a good that there are a lot more songs to come from Josh Cashman.

JUSTICE LEAGUE 2017 NEW TRAILER!

I hope this new DC action film is better than the Superman v Batman movie. I couldn't watch it...The new Wonder Woman looks very cool also Aquaman played by Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Jason was bad ass as Kal Drogo in Game of Thrones Season 1.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.

Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

MOTOWN 25:YESTERDAY-TODAY-FOREVER MARCH 25 1983

Highest moment was Michael Jackson's solo perfomance

The landmark television special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever was filmed before a rapturous live audience on March 25, 1983, the Motown 25 special is perhaps best remembered for Michael Jackson’s performance of “Billie Jean,” which brought the house down and introduced much of the world to the “moonwalk.”

There were other great performances that night, too, but there were also moments that revealed cracks in the joyous-reunion image that Motown chief Berry Gordy sought to portray.

The most glaring breakdown in decorum came during what could have been the evening’s greatest triumph: the reunion of Diana Ross and the Supremes. When Ross, Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong performed together that night for the first time in 13 years, they took to the stage with something closer to 20 years’ worth of unresolved resentment among them.

Early in their performance of “Someday We’ll Be Together,” as Diana slowly moved upstage, Mary and Cindy had the audacity to keep stride alongside her. Diana turned around and angrily pushed Mary back—a move that was carefully edited out of the later broadcast but which prompted Smokey Robinson and others to take the stage and form an impromptu chorus/demilitarized zone between the warring Supremes.

Available on VOD and Digital HD
from Gravitas Ventures on
Tuesday, June 20, 2017

HEARING IS BELIEVING, the new non-fiction feature from award-winning filmmaker Lorenzo DeStefano, introduces the world to the astonishing young musician and composer, Rachel Flowers.

Born 15 weeks premature, Rachel soon lost her eyesight. At two she began playing every song she heard by ear, including Bach fugues. Starting her musical education at the age of 4, it was soon clear that the child had perfect pitch.

DeStefano and his team have created a dynamic and engaging portrait of two years in the life of a tight- knit American family, a single mom and her two kids, living paycheck to paycheck in Oxnard, California, with Rachel's stunning music as the soundtrack. The film revels in Rachel's joyous and free-flowing love of song, illuminating the bonds of family and the divine mysteries of creativity.

Among the great musicians appearing with Rachel in the film are Grammy winners Dweezil Zappa, Arturo Sandoval, and Stevie Wonder, Grammy nominated jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti, the late Progressive Rock icon Keith Emerson, Hawaii ukulele legend Benny Chong, and 50 members of the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony.

Rachel is the recipient of many awards, distinctions, and scholarships, including a Stanford University Jazz Residency, Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards, winner of the Ventura County Student Jazz competition, and private instruction in advanced improvisation through the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz.

Rachel has performed for Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Clark Terry, Herbie Hancock, Herb Alpert, and Wayne Shorter. She is a very active part of several jazz lineups in California and is currently composing original songs and works for orchestra, jazz combo, piano, and voice.

HEARING IS BELIEVING is produced & directed by Lorenzo DeStefano. Executive producer is Patti Channer. Co-producers are Randell J. Brasher, Sandra Laby, Jordan Laby, and Mary Karrh. Editing by Kevin D. Wilson. Cinematography by David Pu'u and Nik Blaskovich. Music by Rachel Flowers.

Nicky Wire has also contributed handwritten lyrics and imagery from his personal archive. "Send Away The Tigers was a very important record for us, it gave us a new lease of life and helped us to rediscover our love of the band. This edition helps to tell the whole story. Through demos, home recordings and hand-written lyrics you find intimate details of a band about to reinvent themselves.” Manic Street Preachers

Prior to this, Sky Arts will be screening a documentary on 15th April of ‘Escape From History’ made by Manics collaborator BAFTA award winning director Kieran Evans. The film describes the period after guitarist Richey Edwards went missing and follows the band as they record and release their landmark fourth album ‘everything must go’.

Through the eyes of the band and close associates the film reveals the internal dynamics and creative relationships within Manic Street Preachers.

James Dean Bradfield has also composed the soundtrack to a new independent film released on 10th March. ‘The Chamber’ is a claustrophobic survival thriller, set below the Yellow Sea and described as a “new sound from Bradfield and adds to the dark and atmospheric mood of the film”. The album is released on Sony Classics on the same day as the film.

The band has also announced several dates for later this summer, see below:
