RESTORED BARTON ORGAN UNVEILED OCT 29!!
Ann Arbor, Mich. – When the 86-year-old Barton Organ was pulled from the Michigan Theater historic auditorium in late June, it was anything but a sad good-bye. Teams from Ann Arbor-based Renaissance Pipe Organ and Littlefield & Sons Furniture Service began the slow, painstaking process of restoring the Barton to her original 1928 state. After three months of hard work, including rebuilding electrical components and mechanical parts, installing a new solid-state relay system, and cleaning and retouching the console, the restoration is almost complete. The mighty Barton will return for a special screening of Nosferatu, the original vampire film, on Wednesday, October 29, at 7:30 PM.
As in previous years, organist Stephen Warner will accompany the film with a performance of his original score, which enhances the spookiness of the 1922 classic. To celebrate the Barton's return, a special pre-show reception featuring drinks and hors d'oeuvres is open to VIP ticketholders from 6:00-7:00 PM.
Advance tickets are available at ticketweb.com. Tickets are $15 (general), $12 (students, seniors, veterans, kids 12 and under), and $10 (Michigan Theater members). VIP tickets are $50 for the general public and $25 for Towsley Society, Gold Card, and A2Y Chamber members. In addition to the reception, VIP tickets also include reserved seating for the film.
About the Michigan Theater: Now celebrating its 87th year, the Michigan Theater is Ann Arbor's award-winning non-profit historic center for fine film and performing arts. The Michigan Theater welcomes more than 250,000 visitors each year to its art house films, concerts, lectures, live theater, and special programs such as Sundance Film Festival USA and Cinetopia International Film Festival. PAUL REVERE DIED
One of my very favorite bands of the 1960s was Paul Revere and the Raiders. Though Mark Lindsey was the star of the show, Paul Revere was the band leader/keyboardist and comic relief on "Where the Action Is" and many other TV shows..He died peacefully at home at age 75...
Here is a beautiful tribute to him from Roger Hart...
"Paul Revere had a style; a sixth sense for pleasing an audience. The magic chemistry of his personality has been a major factor in the Raiders' rise to popularity; and not by sheer accident. He created, over a period of time, a highly polished act built on warmth and spontaneity. Paul had a knack of finding the finest talent and personalities to keep his group a top entertaining act year after year."

THE AMAZING DOCUMENTARIES OF KEN BURNS!
My love for Netflix and PBS just keeps growing! This past two weeks I have been obsessed with THE ROOSEVELTS, PROHIBITION, THE WEST and the entire Ken Burns catalog.
Ken Burns does amazing work creating these historic masterpiece documentaries. He has the best photos, best voice actors, and the music is fabulous...My favorite of all is BASEBALL
Ken Burns
Baseball is similar to Ken Burns' previous documentaries such as The Civil War, in the use of archived pictures and film footage mixed with interviews for visual presentation. Actors provide voice over reciting written work (letters, speeches, etc.) over pictures and video.
The episodes are interspersed with the music of the times taken from previous Burns series, original played music, or recordings ranging from Louis Armstrong to Elvis Presley. The series was narrated by journalist John Chancellor, best known as the anchor of NBC Nightly News between 1970 and 1982.
The story is brutally honest and emotional. The best and the worst of American Sports history. Have a look....

THE TWILIGHT ZONE!
Photo of Rod Serling courtesy of the Museum of Television and Radio.
"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity." TV audiences first heard Rod Serling's mesmerizing introduction to his groundbreaking CBS anthology series "The Twilight Zone," on this date in 1959. The series continued for five seasons and has lived on in syndication and home entertainment. What was your favorite episode of the series? Photo of Serling courtesy of the Museum of Television and Radio.
Rodman Edward "Rod" Serling (December 25, 1924 – June 28, 1975) was an American screenwriter, playwright, television producer, and narrator known for his live television dramas of the 1950s and his science fiction anthology TV series, The Twilight Zone. Serling was active in politics, both on and off the screen, and helped form television industry standards. He was known as the "angry young man" of Hollywood, clashing with television executives and sponsors over a wide range of issues including censorship, racism, and war.
One of my favorite episodes... It's a Good Life with Billy Mumy
