10 TRICKS FOR GETTING INSPIRED TO WRITE

It happens to the best – you need or want to start writing something, or you’ve already started creating a story, but hit a plateau and lose inspiration. What should you do? How to overcome this obstacle which ruins it all? This article is going to provide you with several different ways through which you will find your inspiration again.

⦁ Listen to music.

Music is an extraordinary tool for inspiration; it is able to evoke different feelings, it can make you sad and nostalgic or cause extreme happiness and positivity. If you are unsure what to listen to or tired of your old playlist, try listening to the radio, and you will discover your next favorite song. Pay attention to the lyrics, as it may help you to get inspired big time. Any phrase can spark off new ideas.

⦁ Read.

Successful people, especially writers, admit the importance of reading. One excellent famous author, Stephen King, states that if you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write.

The meaning of this quotation is that a person, who rarely reads, will have more issues with finding inspiration and have less knowledge about the complicated art of writing.

Therefore, pick up and read your favorite book or choose a new inspirational book and gather up new ideas.

⦁ Create a good workplace for yourself.

For some people good, the ideas-inducing workplace should be tidied up and feature bright lighting. For others, creative atmosphere includes artsy mess, muted light and a cup of aromatic tea.

It does not matter, which one you prefer, the primary role of your workplace is to put you in an active working mood. What might really help you, though, in case if you keep procrastinating, is to surround yourself with various motivational English quotes by famous writers.

You can print out quotations, hang them on the walls, add something extra to your workplace and turn it into a “corner of inspiration.”

⦁ Start small.

Lots of people make the same mistake time and again. They build huge goals for themselves and then get frustrated because they cannot achieve them as fast as they thought.

That is why you need to break one big aim into a few smaller ones. For instance, instead of assigning yourself an objective to write a book, start with – gather ideas for the book. It will give you a sense of accomplishment each time you reach an aim and motivate you to move forward.

⦁ Write everything down.

This concept is familiar to every writer. To discover a “gem” in your ideas, you need to write all the gibberish that comes to your head. Oftentimes, you will piece together several points and find something deserving attention.

⦁ Go for a walk.

When you lack inspiration, a simple stroll through the park can do wonders. Nature and fresh air stimulate creative processes that will result in a clear state of mind and a rush of ideas.

⦁ Talk to people.

Yes, this is simple but might help you considerably. By talking to people, you will never need a story idea again because you’ll be full of them. People’s lives are amusing and full of interesting experiences, you just have to hear their stories.

⦁ Ask for help.

Sometimes, you do not enjoy the topic which you need to write about or really do not have time to write. In these cases, lack of inspiration makes everything even worse.

Do not be embarrassed to ask for help. Many blog owners hire special creators and never worry how to get ideas for a short story or an article since writers provide them with fresh, original content on a regular basis.

Moreover, you don’t have to look for creators in the vast spaces of the Internet. Nowadays,

Special writing services were created where you can ask writers “help me write a lab report” or an essay, and the work will be done when you need it.

⦁ Browse the Internet.

The Internet is a magical place for writers. You can do research faster than ever, look for quotes or sayings, and find inspiration. Watch videos, read articles about how to organize ideas and create an outline of your writing to structure it better and make your work more efficient.

⦁ Take care of yourself.

This point might seem off the topic, but it is important. If you do not get enough sleep, eat badly and do not make time to relax, you will find yourself lacking inspiration frequently. One of the more eminent writer quotes about life belongs to Ernest Hemingway: “In order to write about life first you must live it.”

By using these tips and tricks, you have a good chance of catching your inspiration again.

REINVENTING PINK FLOYD: FROM SYD BARRETT TO THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

New Book “Reinventing Pink Floyd: From Syd Barrett to the Dark Side of the Moon” By Bill Kopp To Be Released February 15, 2018!

Asheville, NC - Available February 15, 2017 from Rowman & Littlefield Publishing: Bill Kopp's new book “Reinventing Pink Floyd: From Syd Barrett to the Dark Side of the Moon.” In celebration of the 45th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon, Bill Kopp explores ingenuity with which Pink Floyd rebranded themselves following the 1968 departure of Syd Barrett. Not only did the band survive Barrett's departure, but it went on to release landmark albums that continue to influence generations of musicians and fans.

“Reinventing Pink Floyd” follows the path taken by the remaining band members to establish a musical identity, develop a songwriting style, and create a new template for the manner in which albums are made and even enjoyed by listeners. As veteran music journalist Bill Kopp illustrates, that path was filled with failed experiments, creative blind alleys, one-off musical excursions, abortive collaborations, a general restlessness and—most importantly—a dedicated search for a distinctive musical personality.

“Knowledgeable, well-informed, conscientious, and sensitive. Bill has written about what really matters. Bill's book is a great read, and well worth the price of admission.”— Jerry Shirley, drummer for Humble Pie

This exciting volume guides readers through the works of 1968 through 1973, highlighting key innovations and musical breakthroughs of lasting influence. Kopp places Pink Floyd into their historical, cultural, and musical contexts while celebrating the test of fire that took the band from the brink of demise to enduring superstardom.

“Bill Kopp's excellent analysis of Pink Floyd's post-Syd, pre-arenas era performs a valuable service to the Floyd canon.”— Joel McIver, bestselling rock author

The book draws on archival interviews and reviews as well as many new and exclusive interviews with Peter Jenner, Ron Geesin, Steve Howe, Jerry Shirley, Davy O'List, Willie Wilson, Robyn Hitchcock and many others.

“Combining research into their classic albums and a wealth of little-known and unofficial recordings with astute and entertaining analysis, Kopp generates fresh insight into Pink Floyd's formative years. Even longtime fans of the band will be surprised and enlightened.”— Richie Unterberger, author of “Unknown Legends of Rock 'n' Roll”

Bill Kopp is a lifelong music enthusiast, musician, collector, and music journalist. His writing has been featured in music magazines including Bass Guitar, Record Collector, Prog and Shindig! (all in Great Britain), as well as Billboard, Electronic Musician, Goldmine, Trouser Press, Ugly Things and more than a dozen alternative weekly newspapers. He is the Jazz Desk Editor and Prog Editor at BLURT online, and has written liner note essays for 20 albums, including titles by Julian “Cannonball” Adderley, Larry Coryell, Edgar Winter, Rick Wakeman, The Ventures, Dave Mason and Iron Butterfly. He has interviewed several hundred musicians and music industry figures of note, and his musoscribe.com blog has features thousands of music reviews, essays, interviews and features.

“Reinventing Pink Floyd” will be available February 15 from independent bookstores and Amazon, but pre-ordering direct from the publisher saves 30%.

Author Bill Kopp is available now for interviews, and will be scheduling readings and book store appearances around the publishing date.

10 INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES TO MOTIVATE ASPIRING NEW ARTISTS

Making it in the music business these days is not easy. While platforms such as Facebook, Spotify, and iTunes have made it easier to build your brand and get your music out into the world, you also have to contest with tens of thousands of other artists who are also trying to get people’s attention.

And that’s exactly what the big challenge is these days: attention. Not only do you have to go up against other artists, you also have to go up against dancing kitties, funny memes, and the latest news from Hollywood.

But the truth is, as long as you stay true to yourself and stay focused and motivated each day, you can carve out a nice little niche for yourself. The key to making it successful in the music business these days is finding your voice and an audience who really wants what you have to offer.

Rather than trying to appease a large audience, it’s actually much smarter if you focus on targeting a highly specific group of people who really want and crave your music. Then once they become fanatical about it, then it's much easier to build a larger audience once you have your core base. So whatever you do, don’t give up. Keep putting one foot in front of the other and make small strides toward reaching your goal each and every day.

While some days you might feel like giving up, it’s important to find ways to keep yourself positive. And one way to do that is by reading inspirational and motivational quotes. Yes, those memes you constantly see on social media. But the truth is, when you take the time to process them and are not distracted with the other noise on social media, they can have a profound impact on your inner psychology. Here are some inspirational quotes you can use to help keep you motivated when you feel down:

1. People who succeed have momentum. The more they succeed, the more they want to succeed, and the more they find a way to succeed. Similarly, when someone is failing, the tendency is to get on a downward spiral that can even become a self-fulfilling prophecy. - Tony Robbins

2. It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. - Herman Melville

3. Opportunities don't happen. You create them. - Chris Grosser

4. Nothing could be worse than the fear that one had given up too soon, and left one expended effort that might have saved the world. - Jane Addams

5. Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use. – Earl Nightingale

6. Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion. - Tony Hsieh

7. Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. – Thomas Edison

8. Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It's quite simple, really: Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn't at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, so go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that's where you will find success. - Thomas J. Watson

9. Things don’t go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be. - Charlie Jones

10. Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all. - Sam Ewing
