Niagara Detroit and Pink go back a few years and know each other so it was no coincidence for Pink to drop into a Niagara exhibition in Los Angeles and buy a painting.
Niagara met Pink at a Stooges gig. “A few years ago I showed @Richard Goodall Gallery, Manchester, England. Then I was to go to Paris for a debut show of my Van’s shoe series,” she tells Noise11.com. “Ron Asheton was going to be there since The Stooges show coincided w/mine {which weirdly, happened often}. It was at Le Zenith. And finally: Pink was opening for The Stooges. We hung out backstage and watched the bands. She sure had a lot of pent up energy. She must be awfully healthy”.
Pink bought Niagara’s ‘Hello Kitty’ painting at the Known Gallery in Los Angeles this week and turned up to buy the painting in person. Niagara says it is the first of her works Pink has bought. “Unless she had used a pseudonym,” she said.
