31ST ANNUAL DETROIT JAZZ FEST!

The Detroit International Jazz Festival is in its 31st year, and where better to celebrate the art form that is Jazz than in downtown Detroit? In 2010, the free event will have five stages of continuous entertainment, Saturday-night fireworks, late-night jam sessions, poetry slams, a kid bop area, artist collaborations and giant puppets. Featured artists includes Mulgrew Miller, Branford Marsalis, Maria Schneider, Roy Haynes and Terence Blanchard -- just to name a few.

The coolest show in Detroit is coming up and my friend Mark Loeb is in charge of operations. I am hoping to stop in to Hart Plaza after I see Mitch Ryder in Hamtramck at their big festival.

Kim I love your web site! My name is K J Knight. I'm a rock drummer and vocalist. I came up in Detroit in the mid 60's and 70's. For several years I toured and roomed with Ted Nugent and I played on the album Survival Of The Fittest (recorded live at the Eastown theater). I also played in bands with Rusty Day (The Day and Night Dealers Blues Band), Ron Asheton (The New Order), Scot Richard (The Fallen Angels-managed by Angela Bowie) Ray Goodman (Hammer), Marcy Levy ( Hammer), John Angelos (The Amboy Dukes and Dave Gilbert (The Amboy Dukes). In addition, I played with Luther Allison on the album Luther's Blues, which was recorded at Motown Record Studios. My wife, Connie, was best friends with Carrie, whom I often see pictures of on your site. Connie and I live In Altamonte Springs, Fl. We've been married for 36 years. I just finished writing a manuscript entitled Knight Moves: The K J Knight Story. I'm currently in the process of publishing the book. The book is about my personal life, criminal activities and music career. When it's ready I'll send you a copy. Keep up the great work. Tell Carrie I said hi. KJ
