THE STOOGES AT GOOSE LAKE FESTIVAL

Just saw this video not sure if it is accurate but it is fun so all you Stooges fans ENJOY! I did go to this festival on Sunday but it is a giant blur to me now. We spent the day finding our friends and partying. I don't remember what bands played but I am sure it was not the Stooges!

Stooges were Sat night. Burrito Bros (minus the great Gram Parsons) and Mountain also played that night. Stooges played a couple of songs then Iggy climbed the fence separating the stage and audience. So most of the set was the three musici...ans and Iggy's voice but without him onstage. The Faces were great Fri? night. I remembering hanging with Noy. I think Karl Weiss, Bobby McSpadden and Ricky Baldwin were all there but my memory is understandably hazy...

When he wasn't playing somewhere, he would come into The Chance & Nectarine, (usually with Niagara)...he would sit at my bar. He was usually a quiet guy. I think I remember him drinking CC & Coke, correct me if I'm wrong. Th...e night he was found (RIP), something told me to open the news up on the computer, that's when I was in shock by the news! It was no more than an hour after he was found. :( Eeerie...same thing happened when Lennon was shot. I had the urge to sit down an turn on CNN...it was breaking news!
Ron will be (and is) missed! I had the pleasure of getting to see him play so many times over the course of many, many years!See More

Hello Kim! Very much enjoy your posts. Without the high-energy r-n-r of Detroit/Ann Arbor I'd be completely lost.
Question for you. (Very, very geek.).
I saw Destroy All Monsters a few times, Dark Carnival a few times, and flew from Seattle to see the Stooges reunion twice (due to the bloody blackout).
Every time I saw Ron Asheton (God, I miss him.) he was wearing the glasses he wore on the the cover of the first Stooges album.
As one who can lose glasses without getting out of a chair, I gotta ask if you know where he got them. If they're the same pair, my mind is truly blown. I've always wanted a pair, and hoped one day to ask Ron about them.
S'alright if you have no idea. This may be the dorkiest question you've been asked.
In any case, my travel plans (and empty wallet) expect to be in Michigan as soon as possible. Would be nice to meet you.
You're good people, and I'm glad to have connected here.

@John I will ask my stooge experts but I would certain that over the years he would have had many pairs of aviator glasses, I even had them in high school. Thanks John hope to meet you too.

These are all educated guesses from someone with lifelong, severely compromised eyesight. Firstly, anyone who HAS to wear glasses must change the prescription for correction throughout their whole life, as problems in eyesight change throughout one's lifetime. It's just not a constant, and it usually worsens. So it wouldn't be the same pair of glasses no matter what.

Secondly, Ron found a style that suited him and stayed with it. How does one do that for 40 years? My guess is with a company that always manufactured classic styles like his aviator ones, and that guess would be Ray Ba

I've been living with my husband for 41 years and was very happy to see him highlighted in your pictoral. Didn't know him in 1970, what a great picture!
