GREGG ALLMAN BIO PIC: POSSIBLE HOMICIDE CHARGES IN SARAH JONES DEATH

Sarah Elizabeth Jones, 27, 
was a native of West Columbia, South Carolina. 

She was born on September 22, 1986.

Joyce Gilliard, a 42-year-old hairstylist working on Midnight Rider, an indie biopic about Gregg Allman featuring William Hurt as the 1970s rocker, began feeling anxious about the shoot from the moment she arrived at the 110-year-old bridge trestle over the Altamaha River in Wayne County, a wild, untamed land full of rivers, Spanish moss and gnats. “As soon as I got to the location, I started to feel funny,” she said during a series of interviews. “It didn’t feel right. I didn’t feel safe there.”

Jones, 27, was hit by a freight train a week earlier as she, other crew members and William Hurt (as Allman) were filming on a train trestle in Jesup, Ga.

Nick Gant — executive producer of the Gregg Allman biopic “Midnight Rider” — posted a comment Thursday, about the death of camera assistant Sarah Jones, that was so callous and inconsiderate he quickly removed it from his Facebook page.

The death of this young girl on a railroad track in Georgia just makes me sick.. As an operations person myself, my first question is why were they filming on a railroad track that was ACTIVE? There are lots of tracks that are shut down. Why not use green screen?

A graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and the College of Charleston, Sarah finished her formal education with a major in Media Communications and a minor in Film Studies. Sarah began her film career while interning on the set of Army Wives, a popular television show. With her spunk and determination, Sarah continued to climb the ranks of the film industry, quickly finding a passion in the art of Cinematography. She was a loyal and respected member of the International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600).

Sarah is survived by her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Jones, of West Columbia; her grandfather Andrew Jones, of West Columbia; her brother, Eric Jones, of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Rebecca Jones, of Boone, NC; and a devoted extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this terribly sad time...
