DO'S AND DONT'S AT THE CASINO

A night at the casino can be a great way to unwind with friends. After a long week, there’s nothing better than enjoying some top-class casino action at the Roulette wheel, the Blackjack table, or the in the Poker room.

If you’ve never been to the casino before, it can be a great way to enjoy some social fun. But there are rules and a certain etiquette which must be adhered to when you head to your nearest brick-and-mortar establishment. Here, we’ve put together a quick guide to some of the Dos and Don’ts associated with the casino.

Do respect the dealer

It’s important that you always treat the casino croupiers with maximum respect when playing games. While everyone wants to have a good time, casino workers must remain professional throughout as they deal games of Blackjack and oversee the Roulette table layout, so chances are there won’t be too much banter between players and dealers!

Good manners are essential in the casino, towards both your fellow players and the dealers. The excitement of all the different games can cause some people to get carried away, so remember to always be calm and polite when interacting with the dealer.

Don’t take selfies!

Taking photos is generally frowned upon in a casino, and most establishments do not permit photography on the gaming floor. It may be a temptation to take a few snaps if you’re on holiday in somewhere like Las Vegas or enjoying a classic night out with friends, but selfies and photo taking is usually a big no-no as far as brick-and-mortar casinos are concerned.

Do dress properly

When heading to a casino, it’s important to dress appropriately based on the rules and guidelines put in place by that particular establishment. While some casinos, for example, resorts in Las Vegas, will have a very relaxed dress code, where shorts and t-shirts are permitted, some may adopt a more formal set of sartorial guidelines. It’s best to check ahead of time to avoid any potential embarrassment!

Don’t ask the dealer for advice

If you’re a newbie at the casino, it may be tempting to bombard the dealer with questions and ask for advice on what you should do next. While the dealer may be happy to answer one or two questions regarding the rules of the game, asking them for their advice or opinions is strictly forbidden. Dealers are required to be entirely impartial at all times, so asking them for tips on your next move is not a wise thing to do.

Do turn off your phone when playing

There is nothing worse than being involved in a tense game of Poker or Blackjack, only for someone’s phone to suddenly start blaring an annoying, incessant ringtone.

When playing games, phones should always be switched off to allow players to focus fully on the task at hand. Some players may have large amounts of money at stake, so you don’t want your phone to go off and cause a distraction.

One positive aspect of visiting a casino is that it’s a chance to switch off your phone and enjoy some classic social fun with other people. It’s the perfect excuse to avoid your phone screen for a few hours.

While a big list of Dos and Don’ts might make the casino sound a bit daunting, the reality is that when everyone respects each other and follows these rules of etiquette, the whole experience is much more enjoyable.
