The force wasn't with them. Walt Disney Co. is pulling the plug on LucasArts, the video game arm of "Star Wars" creator George Lucas' Lucasfilm. The move to close LucasArts comes only months after Disney acquired Lucasfilm and is part of a broader strategy of pulling back from video games. More on the news from the Wired.
This has been sad news for fans of Star Wars TV, but it’s even worse for fans of videogames, who had been anticipating the tactical game Star Wars: First Assault, as well as Star Wars 1313, a third-person action adventure that would have been a darker, grittier look at the universe that gave us Ewoks.
“After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games…. As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization.”

The word I hear from gamers is that they won't miss it because they either couldn't or didn't care enough to keep up with gaming technology and got left behind in the dust (losing money) But at least we have the other Disney stuff ! Can't wait for the new Star Wars movie , some of the original cast members will be in it .
