NEVERMIND: MASONIC PAYS $10K, FORECLOSURE AVERTED

Well, that was quick! After just a day's worth of intense media coverage, the Masons staved off foreclosure of the Masonic Temple, negotiating a payment plan and handing the county treasurer $10K, reports Crain's. Seems like a pretty good deal, considering their unpaid tax tab was at $152,000.

The agreement demands a second payment of $36,000 come June. It's unclear when the entire bill must be paid off, but keep in mind: the $152K is reportedly just two years of unpaid taxes and associated fees. Unless a few of the Masonic's 1,037 rooms are stuffed with cash, logic tells us the Temple needs to make some major changes if it's going to stay afloat.
