ROD STEWART'S FIRST HOLIDAY ALBUM OCT 30

Verve Music Group... it has been reported for some time that Rod Stewart would be releasing his first-ever holiday album this fall, and now we've got all the details. The disc, called Merry Christmas, Baby, will be in stores October 30, 2012

Rod's album features guest appearances by Michael Buble, who sings with Rod on "Winter Wonderland"; Mary J. Blige, who joins him on "We Three Kings"; and Cee Lo Green, who duets with him on "Merry Christmas, Baby." In addition, there's a so-called "virtual duet" with the late, legendary Ella Fitzgerald, on the song "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" Chris Botti plays trumpet on that track, while top saxman Dave Koz is heard on "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"

In a statement, Rod says of the album, "I have always been tempted to do a Christmas album, and now that I once again have young children, the timing couldn't be better."

The album contains one new, original song, which Rod co-wrote with producer David Foster and his daughter Amy Foster: "Red-Suited Super Man." The rest of the tracks are standards, including "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "White Christmas," "Blue Christmas," "When You Wish Upon a Star," "Silent Night, "Auld Lang Syne" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
