WEST SIDE STORY AT THE FISHER THEATER IN DETROIT

I went to see West Side Story tonight with my friend Trudie. We braved the rain and I 94 East in her little  Miata 2 seater to go see this show.  After seeing WSS Trudie and I agreed this play should be rated R....There was violence and some sexual scenes that we were not really expecting. Much darker thank the classic Natalie Wood movie.

We really  enjoyed the dancing and orchestra...The young cast did not disappoint. They were superb dancers and good vocalists as well...so great to hear some of my most favorite show tunes performed live..

Many thanks to Paul Buono and Trudie Duart!

West Side Story will be playing at the Fisher Theatre - MI, at 3011w Grand Blvd #f100, Detroit, Michigan. The last performance is on May 18, 2014. There are currently 7 performances scheduled. The running time is approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes, including one intermission

Based on Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story opened in 1957 on Broadway. Although the dark subject shocked some people, critics praised Jerome Robbins' innovative choreography. Arthur Laurents created the book, Leonard Bernstein composed the music, and Stephen Sondheim wrote the lyrics for the musical.
