STEVE MILLER BAND TO REISSUE FIRST 5 ALBUMS

Between the years 1968 and 1970, the Steve Miller Band released five albums that put them on the classic rock map. The group will reissue those five albums — with some help from Edsel Records — this coming Oct. 8 as digitally remastered special digipak editions.

The remastered albums include the embryonic blues and psychedelic rock of 1968′s ‘Children of the Future,’ and ‘Sailor’ from later that same year — the last album to feature any contributions from former member Boz Scaggs. Two albums from the next year follow: ‘Brave New World’ — featuring Paul McCartney performing backing vocals on ‘Celebration Song’ and ‘My Darkest Hour’ — and ‘Your Saving Grace.’ Finally, we break into the ’70s with the aptly named ‘Number 5,’ the first album solely produced by Miller.

Each of the CD booklets include original artwork, rare photos from Miller’s personal records, song lyrics, and liner notes based on a 2012 interview with Miller for the San Francisco Chronicle. Just weeks after the release of these albums the band is set to embark on an European tour, with the first stop being London’s Roundhouse on Monday, Oct. 22.
